Wow, what a beautiful story. I share a similar story with you as well. My brother was diagnosed with SMS at a very young age. Multiple specialists didn't know what he had for a long time. It has been a journey. From multiple major spinal surgeries, surgeries on his ears, a shunt installed to drain excessive fluid from his brain, and many many trials.. this story is beautiful and touching. It is very nice to relate to your family in many ways. The melatonin and the early stages were extremely tough! My brother is also non-verbal as well! Your family has so much patience, and its incredible to witness. It doesn't get easier, but believe me when I say... your son has an incredible big sister and the responsibility of caring for him would NEVER be a burden to her! (THE LOVE SHOWS) She is going to grow up and see the care you have demonstrated so well.. he will never go without! He will live many more beautiful years, even after your death, because he has an amazing family behind him!
