    Malcolm, on a more serious note.. I think you should make more of these butter tricks/ground tricks videos.. I know theres plenty of of them on the internet but you have your own way with words/style of explanation that makes it easier for me to digest and understand. This video and the one with the cab 3 are my favorite recently. That's not to say your more technical videos are bad but they're a nice change of pace! Hope to see more similar videos in the near future! All the best

    Hey Malcolm. First I wanna say thank you for the content you create. It has helped me a lot to learn snowboarding at age 33 :). I just have a request. Could you create a video or explain it here which kind of S-turns is better for the steep slopes in order to control the speed? Is short turn better or longer and rounder S-turn towards the side of the slopes? Personally, longer and rounder turns make me worried about skiers who are coming from behind! Thank you again for your awesome videos.

    • @malcolmmoore
      @malcolmmoore  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Generally speaking short turns. That means less time in the fall line, therefore less time picking up speed. This video might help: th-cam.com/video/6DDlIbATM6s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=iOuftD7hsZmLzu61

    Somethings been wrong with my revert carves, loosing all speed, almost immediately after locking in the toe edge going switch direction, was thinking i need to grow some and hit it faster... after watching this I think i need to actually focus on the counter rotation. Prolly the speed into it as well. Thanks Malcolm

    Just came back from my 1st 5 day snowboarding trip. Watched loads of your videos before. Im a competent skiier and had some lessons indoor before going. not going to lie my body is in bits. Fall so many times and hurts a lot more than skiing. 2 things I'd like to know, like skiing is there a proper way to fall? Seems very sudden with 0 chance to brace on a board. Also I ski at decent speed which makes is less exhausting, with a board I dare not due to the sheer amount of falling and busy runs, should I just be braver and spend more time pointing down the run turning at an angle instead of full j turn constantly to slow? I had a 2.5 km run on a narrow flatish track where I must have fallen every 30 m 😂 it was pure hell ...

    • @malcolmmoore
      @malcolmmoore  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Technique = avoidance 😂
      But in all seriousness, when it's incredibly icy (and obviously everyone has a different definition of this) but when you literally can't even dig your edge in there's not a whole lot you can really do other than just trying to get across it. This might mean just going with a skid or flat basing over it. No magic pill I'm afraid!

    Hey man! Your videos have helped me learn my first S Turns this past weekend. I'm progressing really well because of your videos. Thank you. I have 2 questions for you though. I am having trouble where I am trying to get my board back to the center of the trail but my board gravitates and continues to slide to the downward angled outsides. Is there any effective way to make an exit from those down curved corners and back onto the center of the trail? Second question, any recommended stretching exercises before going out for a day of shredding the trails? Thank you again, sir!

    Great video mate!
    Bit of a random one for ya. Mrs and I are going strong after this video and we're considering buying a small place in the alps.
    What are Alp D'huez and l2a like in the summer? Is there much happening in the resorts or is it super quiet?

    • @malcolmmoore
      @malcolmmoore  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm a big fan of the summer here! I actually live down in the valley not in either resort. Lots of cycling, hiking etc. LDA has got the glacier so has more going on during the summer and is a lot busier I would say but depends what you're looking for, the whole area is lovely

    • @t0gden12
      @t0gden12 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@malcolmmoore nice one man!
      And winter wise, I know your usually in ADH so guessing you think that the better riding? How does L2A compare.
      Read loads of stuff that the two are gonna be linked but seems like they've been saying that forever...
      Sorry for the questions my man!

    • @malcolmmoore
      @malcolmmoore  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I prefer alpe d'Huez for riding, although LDA often has better snow...
      On a season pass you get 10 days at the other resort included (as well as some days at some other resorts) so you can still go to both.
      I don't think they're going to link the two resorts by cable car anymore but I'm not 💯, the latest chat is they're putting a lift from the valley floor to alpe d'Huez. There's already a connection from the valley to LDA in Venosc, and to Oz (part of the alpe d'Huez domain) from Allemond, so they're saying the next big connection will be bourg d'Oisans to Alpe d'Huez

    There was a time when I was learning that I felt comfortable riding switch. Now it feels alien as I have improved my carving in my regular stance

    • @elho001
      @elho001 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I can totally relate to that. While I could basically carve when I learned switch, my regular riding over the decades since then just gained so much more experience confidence in steep terrain and at higher speeds that the switch riding has fallen far behinde
      Riding way more switch could have fixed this, but as a vacation warrior with only so much time on the mountain you have to priotize and compromise.
      The one thing when it comes to switch that I should have worked on much earlier is dynamic/harder switch carving - now my muscle memory is so locked into regular carving, that in switch my body wants to put weight on the opposite leg of what would be needed in the given phase of the carve. I kinda have little issue mirroring the other movements and rotation, but the fore/aft movement is a real struggle to mirror.

    @malcolmmoore I love your videos. You explain things in a very natural and easy to understand way. I was wondering what your opinion is on board length and rider weight - do these play much of a role or it is just technique and a lighter rider can get away with a longer board? I am 180 cm and 63kg riding 157 medium-flex board. I never manage to create than thin line no matter what angles and forward lean I choose. The board just skids. Looking at the board specs the 157 Burton Process board requires rider weight of 61kg to 79kg which makes me only 2kg above the minimum required. What is your take on length when it comes to lower weight? Thanks!

    • @malcolmmoore
      @malcolmmoore  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks, glad you're liking the videos! Unfortunately it's not the board being the wrong size for you that is causing you to skid. If you're at the lower end of the weight recs for a board then it will basically feel stuffed, if you're at the upper end, then it will feel softer than what the website says. The process is a pretty soft board anyways, so to be honest unless you were way out of the weight recs it will be fine!

      It made sense to me coming from Skateboarding where spins / tricks starting Fakie felt much easier to rotate because of your momentum and direction compared to regular yet still popping the board with your usual back foot.

      Switch is one of the essential skills for ground tricks and for the park.

      @@DrumMayne huh? i kinda get swinging your back leg around on a 180, but a 360? landing blind switch? nah. Also, you're quite literally not popping with your usual back foot, that's your front foot that's now at the back.

      @malcolmmoore  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can do regular if you like, just switch fitted in better with this tutorial to get that same bs180 at the end that is in all of the other tricks in this video. Personally I also prefer to spin in a clockwise as opposed to an anti clockwise direction, hence I learnt it before the regular FS 360 and why I still prefer it.

    • @mankybrains

      I could have used that skill when I was going down a black and went over a bump I didn't anticipate and lost all edge contact. If I had that knowledge I probably could have looked cool reverting after landing from the bump. I slid for a good few meters before getting some grip. I'm still new so getting to learn these different scenarios on my own.
      Thinking about it now, I could have just flattened out and went over the hump despite the speed I was going to gain. But my noob skills could have ended a more disastrous scenario for me. So the slide downhill to a lower slope was just a funny visual for the lift risers.
