    this is some 80s-level casio keyboard goofiness/genius and I love it! just wish it didn't require an app to use and let you input the vocals into the machine itself

    • @RenatoPernett
      @RenatoPernett 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Indeed! For example, such a beauty can't be used as a live vocoder per se! I mean, why Casio usually stops where the fun begins? This could be a match for the Roland VP series, or to the Novation Mininova... This could even enter into the stage keyboard podium (if 76 notes, modwheel, etc.). Nevertheless, it's possible they release something like that, and that this is the entry level or something. But question is, why on earth do they wait too long!

    • @EnochDark
      @EnochDark 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      yeah, could at least have some kind of keypad built in and maybe even predictive txt feature or whatevs

      More features on an entry level board is only possible due to Apps. Considering the price segment this is the only possible way. With increasing users connecting boards to their Computer DAWs that makes it more flexible on how this board can be used.
      Of recent CASIO boards are innovative in functionality and I expect a mid range keyboard with more features and controls than the big players if CASIO have an idea of stepping up their music market.

    Please, please, please bring out a new Phase Distortion synthesizer. The CZ5000 is one fo the best synths I've ever owned and it would be insane what you could do with the concept with today's digital technology

    • @curdoggie
      @curdoggie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think it's strange they choose to make something with such a limited use case before making a modern version of their classic digital techniques. This is definitely cool and unique, but it's less practical than their 80s synths. It's cool they're making actual synths again, but this seems like something that would be fun to use for a couple of days before it would just take up space. We'll see once the reviews come out though

      @@curdoggie You would not use this, at all. There are far better software solutions for synthetic voices out there, already. You can also pick up as many old CZ5000s for rock bottom prices on eBay as you like. That tells you that there is virtually no demand for them when a classic Moog, Oberheim or Arp in good condition can go for more than its retail price when it was new.

    • @curdoggie
      @curdoggie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@schmetterling4477 I plan on buying an old CZ series synth at some point, but it's at least $500 with shipping for a largely working CZ-5000. Most of the refurbished ones are at least $600. They could probably update the user interface and include multiple of their classic synthesis methods and sell it for less than $400 like a Korg Volca or Roland Boutique which have been very successful.

    Seen a lot of people already asking "why not just use a vocoder" but for me who spent a lot of time writing in the past, I can see an advantage of going this route. It's quite likely that what someone might type would be rather different than what they might just say. Hopefully that makes sense??? I can just see it being a whole different way to approach song writing than the standard using a mic...

    underwhelmed. Vocoders sounded better ten years ago. Roland's voice manipulation keyboards in particular.

      Same. I was really excited when I heard about this, so I came over here to TH-cam to hear it. Nope. Although it's fun and kind of cool, I was expecting something much more realistic and less vocoder sounding.

    This instrument is a proof what happens when you get Rich Formidoni to work for you. Now the only thing Casio needs is Bert Smorenburg.

    No option to actually use your voice through the voice synthesis engine?
    It’s 2022 and this is supposed to be innovative?

      @@vtechk yeah, the lack of proper 5 pin MIDI is the reason I will not be buying this. a real shame, as it looks like a really interesting synth

    • @warlok9
      @warlok9 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      OMG THANK U!! I thought I was the only one annoyed by this omission. I know manufacturers are tired of putting 5 pin midi jacks on their hardware synths, but midi just freaking works!!! It's a simple, lagless tech that just works for electronic musical equipment when you don't want or need to have a PC on stage with you. Forcing the replacement of midi cables for keyboards is like replacing 1/4" cords for guitars with Bluetooth. It's dumb.

    I loved CASIO keyboards and synthesizers from my childhood, but I have a question, why last 10 years' design been so ugly? :( where are designers who design CZ-101, CZ-1, CZ-5000, RZ-1, VZ-1, all PT, SK, MT, VL's? :(
