I always remember my Papa pointing out a woman in a brand new $100,000 AMD and her red soled LV shoes, fancy business suit. We were at a coffee shop sharing a cappuccino. He asked me what I saw, I said "She's rich!!" And he said "No, she has A LOT of bills!" That always stuck with me.
She may be rich for all anyone knows I know some people that pay for cars like that in check and wear plenty of jewelry and yes some are happy and some people are not
Papa is a very smart man. Appearance is everything but you never know what their life is really like. Also Graham feels he has to keep up with his Friends because he's scared he won't have any. My Cousin does that, spending like it's an addiction. 😢.
Graham is lovely. I can see how his issues arised because of his mums partner treating him badly and the mum not protecting him from this. The scene in the london restaurant is lovely where his mum says she is proud of him. You can see how much this meant to him. I do hope he went on to have a happy life as I sense he had so much to give in terms of career. Hopefully he found some sincere friends too.
I loved this episode!!! It's amazing how all these different traumas can lead to bad adulting decisions! I've learned a lot about myself through watching these! Thank to all those that made themselves vulnerable going through this process so we can all learn and grow!
I've watch about 4 episode of this show and to be quite frankly this episode and this man is kind of fresh air to watch. He didn't complain he actually trying and not blowing the budget money that he was assign. He's pretty mature about the situation and it is refreshing to watch. Also, he's taking the responsibility to actually pay for his rent. He take extra hours instead of partying and using credit cards so that's quite good.
i love this show but since these are circa 2002, they are so ridiculously outdated I’d love to see new ones. I cringe when I see what we used to pay for cell phones
Andrea Bay very few people actually buy them outright, these days you usually just pay 50 quid a month with unlimited everything, Back in the day the handset was cheaper but you could easily spend hundreds on calls if you weren’t careful
Poor boy, you can see the pain in his face. He's very brave and so self aware. I'm sure he'll fix his low self esteem and go on to do great things and live at peace with himself.
Works 15 hours a week, emotionally blackmails his mother for money and laughs about it, tells his flatmates to move out for being behind on rent when he pays nothing. So self aware.
I am glad I didn't comment until the end of he episode. My first impression of him was just pure disgust, but by the end I find him charming, smart, and quite humble.
@@meaganglaser Clearly Mum chose a man over her children. Happens all the time, sadly. This episode still bothers me, even watching it now. I'll never understand how a parent can choose another person - particularly someone who HATES their kids - over said children. It's sick.
Because the children play on the guilt factor and so they can't say no but unfortunately it just doesn't benefit anyone in the long run. It has to be drilled into people that you have to work for what you want and to live within your means.
Absolutely Ridiculous I agree. But if I was his mum I would see sense and wouldn't put up with a partner who disrespected and had a problem with any of my children. It seems with the money given to Graham it was only treating the symptoms not the root cause. Love your name by the way 😅
She deserves to be taken for granted because all the time he was growing up she took him for granted assuming that he would be OK with her placing a man as being more important than her own son. She gets what’s coming to her in the end called karma.
My parents are very well to do. They worked hard their whole lives and lived below their means and invested carefully. They eventually built up a sizeable investment and real estate portfolio. They made it perfectly clear that it was their money and they weren't our personal ATM machines. They paid for our college tuition but we had to work part time to pay our expenses. IF we graduated they bought us a modest new car and gave us a one time cash gift to help us establish ourselves. If we blew the money on a Las Vegas vacation , oh well, no more was coming from the parents.

Something that interests me is that the only mention of his (presumed) sexual orientation was between mum and Benjamin. He didn't seem to have a boyfriend, or to be spending time in specifically 'gay' clubs or venues. I wonder whether he was having issues accepting himself in terms of his sexual orientation? Things were quite different in the early 2000s. Could have been worth exploring that rather than just focusing on mummy issues.

Graham’s mother really pisses me off. Back when he was younger and even right now it’s clear that men have and still are far more important than her own blood child. That is disgusting. 😡
In every one of these shows that has the person spending money on expensive clothes that person looks awful; you can't see where the money has been spent.

I so wanted to dismiss Graham as an idiot but in fact he made me smile and was a total sweetheart

I really like this episode. It goes to show that a little guidance goes a long way, as long as you're open to accept the guidance.
The mother is an enabler.
He seems so nice I can't believe he treated his mum so poorly.
Sadly, she is an enabler. She does not demand respect. Until she changes, he will not change.
