Ive got a spot for you... Say youre on Shelter Island Pier, look to your right and you will see parked boats about 15 yards from shore. Go to the farthest boat to the right and there is a yellow buoy. From the rocks, cast towards that yellow buoy and all around it. There are always spottys and Halibut there. There are a lot of thick weeds near shore though, so make sure you reel in fast, almost at the surface when you're about to recast.
