I thought it would be nice to take a stroll down memory lane while answering some commonly asked questions that we get about Kumo and the Scottish Fold breed.

Such a beautiful coat and amazing eyes! He appears to be very relaxed and I will assume affectionate towards you. I can see he is a very comfortable weight and no doubt loves to cuddle and lay beside you all the time. Thank you!

I've got an 8 year old orange tabby, adopted him about a year ago. He's a lazy boy but also an absolute snuggle bug. And at 5am he acts like a total spazz

I rescued an Scottish fold a month ago. I adopted him and I don't have an name for him.
Killua, Gon, Kuma (bear), and Usa (bunny). My sisters recommend those names

That's so exciting! What did you name her?
We did not pickup Kumo until he was almost 8 weeks old and he luckily was not picky.
We fed him canned wet kitten food, then introduced dry kitten food and gave him both.
Now that he is on adult food he still gets both dry and (a little) wet food.

*Often* Scotish Folds suffer from diseases with which Straight Cats have no problems. They can have severe problems in their joints, spine and even a stiff tail, which can cause them pain throughout their lives. This problem is unfortunately very overshadowed and not addressed, which is why I recommend the following video:

People (just like me) often don't know when they are promoting this "torture breeding", which shows that research should always be the first thing we do before making such decisions. - No hate, no "I know everything better" but just a little food for thought, because you can literally love your cat to death!

I'm not sure but I think they will each have a different preference.
Kumo seems to be pretty easy going... he has been out in the snow and did not mind it.
Overall I would say they prefer a medium temperature. 😊
very pretty cat. I did not realize how chunky a Scottish fold can be. The folded ears are caused by a dominant genetic mutation that affects the cartilage in the ears and throughout the body. Feeding an excess of calcium can actually cause the ears to go back straight from what I have read. This mutation can also cause some serious health problems. There is an ongoing debate over whether Scottish fold breeding should be disallowed. I think that would be unfortunate as this is currently my favorite cat breed.

For a while when he was younger and wanted to scratch all of our furniture we put something on his claws called Soft Paws.
It covers his nail so he cannot do damage when scratching and it falls off when the nail grows. 🙂
Our veterinarian recommended it to us!

Why would you put nail polish on the cats claws? It’s toxic for them and they do go biting at their claws because there’s a new claw layer underneath. I agree the blue claws looked cool but it’s not good for them.
Jade, I completely agree with you that anyone who paints their cats nails are crazy! That is so bad for them!
Luckily Kumo is just wearing 'soft paws' a product that covers his nails so he cannot scratch furniture. He can still retract his claws and use them but they can't cause any damage. It was recommended to us by our vet and we really like it! 😊

It’s funny how everyone now in the comments are wanting a Scottish fold cat and thinking it’s soo cute but little do they know they suffer from health problems because of their ears. By the time they get older they won’t even be able to walk anymore. Their bone structure has an awful painful problem. I have a Scottish fold cat myself and I never knew about this and I also got one because I taught It looked cute. I see how my cat is suffering at 5 years old and can’t even walk properly anymore. I did some research and found the disgusting truth behind this. This is a human breed and the cats suffer from it. Please stop spreading these false images. THIS IS NOT CUTE. If you wanne see my cats heath issues, let me know!
