This is my first time running across this channel. I like it so far. As I’m listening to her part I’m steadily saying, “yep. She ain’t wrong.” I totally relate to this mindset.
I enjoyed the video, & how Dr. Grande stayed with the client step-by-step, helped her acknowledge her thinking, as well as possible outcomes that would positive, instead of just focusing on the negative...
This is another good role play video for me to see because it demonstrates another action that I tend to engage in frequently. Like the client, if anything bad happens or something doesn't go right I always jump to the extreme negative thought process. This way of thinking has always been a part of my mindset and it is such an easy go to. Thinking of the positives just doesn't have the same lasting effect as thinking negatively does but I know that I need to change this way of thinking because it does not help the situation any. It will be hard but it is a mindset that will need to get worked on. In listening to the client I'm thinking to myself cmon it's not that bad, you still have a full time job and part time jobs are so easy to come by. Seeing that is how my thought process is I ask myself the same, why do I think of it one way and not the other? I also like how the counselor does not confirm nor deny the clients justifications that she poses, he keeps neutral while still giving her an answer to still make her think about her actions. The suggestions that the counselor has the client practice fit in with the goals of CBT in that they are intended to remove biases or distorted thinking in order for the individual to move towards a better way of life.
Dr Grande, how do you do it without laughing😂😂😂😂🤣😆😂😅. I guess im laughing cos i recognize some catastrofic traits in me🤔 and its halarious when i look at it from your perspective😆😆😆. Really good reflectin it gave me, thanks😀
I liked seeing this example. My husband and I have a huge situation coming up soon. I usually like to see what will actually happen first, then see what options are available, then go from there. But this time it really will be a catastrophic outcome without a miracle happening.
Wow, I think like this, I over think, over worry.... I have bad anxiety, panic attacks, ocd, ADHD, autism... I had kinda a chaotic childhood, A LOT of moving, switching schools a lot... I kinda think thats 1 of the reasons why. I've been in therapy & seen a lot of different therapists throughout my life, even when I was a kid. I was even put on Ritalin when I was maybe 7yrs old & made me feel like total shit, I remember being really scared & paranoid on it, but I was so young I didn't understand wtf was happening & cuz my autism, it made it even harder for me to understand how to explain how I felt... I've been on SO MANY different meds throughout my life & a lot of really bad side effects & ended up in the hospital many times... Started using drugs & alcohol when I was a teenager & tried to help my anxiety... Now, I've been in an outpatient treatment clinic & I go to therapy every week & have a mental health Dr. Things have been going a lot better. I did have a bad day last week & actually made me really worry alot about my future & basically started panicing. Thing currently are actually OK... I just sometimes end up starting to worry about the future & then worry about everything that could go wrong & so on... I actually paused this video so I could type this & not even half way through the video & realized "omg so this is what I sound like to other ppl lol yikes" 🙈 lol...
I think she is pretty reasonable with her reality. All her worries are valid, makes sense. If you would meet my mother, you would know what catastrophication is.
I remember thinking like that when I quit my second job because I was exhausted. I was so afraid I would be in financial hell. Nothing like that happened. I learned not to spend money on silly things. I have more time for my family and I concentrated on my health.

This scenario shows a women that is smart and thinking ahead. Reminds me of myself. It’s horrible but she has good points. She’s alone and when you’re alone no one cares. Acting or not it’s better to be like her than carefree until all the shit hits the fan
