I have searched for months to find a solution for this very problem on my WordPress website. I went straight to the 3rd suggested solution (check the WP-Config.php file), and that was the answer to my many prayers. Thank you so much Kerry for a clear and concise explanation.
Thanks, very much... this fixed it!! Also, In my case, I never had these 2 lines in my WP-Config file. Just a heads up.. do not put it right at the end. Otherwise, it doesn't do anything. I added it before this line: define('WP_DEBUG', false); and then here is the 2 lines of text as I know its a mission to have to copy and write it out................ define('DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT', false); define('DISALLOW_FILE_MODS', false);
Happened to me today on HostGator. Your video was very useful - taught me to look at 'wp-config.php' more closely, especially the article on WordPress.org i.e. 'Editing wp-config.php'. I did not find the problem you encountered but ended commenting out all of 'multi-site' options and all of the plugin menu came back. Thanks again for pointing me into the right direction.
OMG YOU ARE AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! I FOLLOWED YOUR INSTRUCTIONS TO THE T AND MY CLIENT'S WORDPRESS DASHBOARD IS BACK TO NORMAL no thanks to their last developer!!!!!!!!!! GODDD BLESSS YOUUU !!!
It totally worked! I kept poking around because godaddy looks different. I got lazy and had a Fiverr seller redo my site. It looked worse than the site I had originally built. But I couldn't add a reset plugin because he blocked me with that code thingy. Bangladesh my a$$! Thank you so much, Kerry. I am grateful.
Thank you, thank you so much for making this video! Someone hacked into my WP, added users / sites / posts and changed this so I couldn't update or add plugins. Such a headache, but you really helped me out here.
Thanks, this helped me find the reason my plugins weren't updateable. For me, I had to manually enter the two lines that were missing in wp-config.php: define('DISALLOW_FILE_MODS',false); define('DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT',false);
Thanks. It took me a while to even find the C-panel - still needed to install Filezilla and a suited app in order to open a php.file - but it worked! I changed the commands from true to false. Wonder how this code changed in the first place. But the new plugin-submenu is back. Awesome!
OMG it worked!!!! I have multiple public.html folders, so you must select under your the domain you are having trouble! I did have the 2 commands set to TRUE. I just can't understand who and why did this, because I am the only editor...
thanks you, thank you i watched your video i try the last option then a get the problem then i fix. when i try to solve every problem i follow all solution then the last solution is working for me. now when i there a problem the first thing i doing is to take last solution. thanks thanks 100%
This is good!, I have a doubt. If i buy a web hosting and domain from a hosting website maybe a starter plan, and download wordpress on the Cpanel, will i be able to access all the plugins?
This helped. Just in case if you also have issues in updating your theme (I am using newspaper theme in wp). This solution will fix that too. Thankyou!!!
Thank you so much that was clear and straight forward. as someone with no background in this area (an agency sat up my website) I struggled a little understanding how to go to control panel and access public_html. just a heads up so you could consider a bit more explanations for non-experts. many thanks again
I have tried all the trouble shooting options but I am yet to get a breakthrough. I will appreciate your assistance. Thank you Extra note: At the bottom of edit page on C panel, I saw this: /** Sets up WordPress bars and included files. */ require_once ABSPATH. 'wp-settings.php';
Hi Etta. If none of the troubleshooting suggestions fixed the issue, please try 1. Updating your php version (if not updated already) 2. reinstall WordPress 3. increase php memory to 256M by adding this code to the config.php file: define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M'); *** please make sure you backup your site before making any of these changes. Hope that helps. Regarding the message on cPanel. It's best to contact your web host about that. :)
Thank you so much... after editing the config.php file it works for me. my old web design company restricted me even he made me administrator after a serious conflict he thought his site was hims.thank you.
Hello, thanks for your help I've tried all solutions you said. I still have issues about adding or installing pluggins. It seems be from Elementor beug. When I cancelled manually this problem was solved and it came back, what do you think about?
Thank you so much. I went though the whole video and the third solution was the one that fixed my problem. Great video easy to understand...problem SOLVED
Thanks, Kerry... I have got three sites, I could do with one domain but I could not do with the other domain, please help... your tutorial is awesome..
Thank you for making the video. I went into the c panel but I think I'm in over my head in that area. I am the only one who has access to my website, although it was built by someone else. Recently I noticed that I never have to update plugins and I didn't change that. Previously I preferred to do it manually because my website sometimes crashes... anyway the need to update disappeared and I just noticed I can't download new plugins because the option is gone. If anyone has a suggestion I'd love to hear it! And I was only looking for a plugin because I just noticed I can't save blog posts... so something is going on

Thanks. It took me a while to even find the C-panel - still needed to install Filezilla and a suited app in order to open a php.file - but it worked! I changed the commands from true to false. Wonder how this code changed in the first place. But the new plugin-submenu is back. Awesome!
