The Mast Fold Pro is a long awaited machine to be featured on this channel. Sorry it took so long but it's finally here. The wait was long but boy was it worth it. I went into this unboxing without any research on the machine so I was really surprised with the new battery pack. It is a welcome change to be honest. It makes the value of the machine even more worth while because of it's many upgrades. If you compare it with the older mast fold, it's basically the mast fold with a custom wireless battery but with better performance. I have used the machine a few more times after recording this video and it keeps making me want to rank this higher and higher in the dragonhawk rankings. I will probably be doing a banger video with the dragonhawk top machines for 2023 really soon.

First of all, I would like to thank you for this useful video. I have a question. Which do you think is better, Dragonhawk Mast Fold Pro or Bronch V12? As someone who reviews both machines.
The v12 is awesome as well. It's battery life is better. It is much heavier thou. The fold is really really good at shading thou. Black works and realism artists love it. Also some fine line people too.
Btw I'm giving away a mast archer. Checkout the 4 years later video on it.
It's quiet when it doesn't have a cartridge because the drive pin is not engaged into the flywheel /motor because this machine relys on the cartridge membrane to provide the tension a stay up spring would

It's removable then you can clave grip and uv oven the whole pen

Yup It can. Most machines can do that.
I’m curious how you sterilize this machine? I’m looking to buy it to start practicing but would like to have the possibility to use it on real skin but cannot find anywhere about how you take it apart and sterilize this machine
I will start making disassembly vids soon. But you just remove the grip and throw that in the sterilizer
You can put the whole machine in a uv over too. And of course properly wrap the machine.

I’m doing mostly traditional and line work, so I want the harder hit of a 4.2 stroke. I am comparing the Archer Max 4.2 with the Fold Pro. Will the Fold Pro (or even Flip Pro) perform as well as the Archer Max 4.2 at lining/packing? If they perform equally at the higher stroke setting,I would buy a Fold Pro for the stroke adjustability. Willing to spend more unless the Archer Max is a better liner.
Flip pro or archer max is better for trad stuff. But I'd say archer max
This machine is dog water. This has got to be the softest hitting machine I have ever used. The only strokes that change anything is 4.2 and 2.4. at least on my unit. To add to the fact my cam already failed. At about 15 hours of tattoo time. The racer and the X7 are still going strong.

@@lucasbottinha no! 15vhours in and the cam failed. Dragonhawk told me I can purchase a new cam, but only 15 hours into a machina and the cam fails is a definite no for me.
What's your favorite machine? I got this machine about 2 months ago and it does seem to be really soft... I was sold on the adjustablilty but haven't tried any other pens. I was looking at the bronc v12 or the racer. How's the racer treating you?
They've paid a bunch of small TH-camrs to do videos like theses. Where they don't tell people what they're really like. It's a really cheap machine. Of course it's a piece of shit haha.

I was just looking at this! And was seriously considering getting it. I as well am a complete beginner..well I don’t know if you can call it that. Definitely want to start tattooing just need the equipment. I have the time being a 100% disabled Vet so it’s just school and my family and needed something to learn and possibly make another career out of since I’m not working currently. And oddly feel like it will be very therapeutic as well
If you hit the power button 4 to 5 times instead of holding it you get a lightning bolt on your screen, what does this mean?
That's the jump start feature. It's normally better for coreless motors.jump start is when the machine starts at a higher rpm or voltage then drops down to your last used voltage.

I've had the machine for a few months now, I love it but the battery life is dookie, I get maybe 3-4 hours out of it, reminds me of the shorty battery for the bishop wands, if they could make a 2000mah slightly larger battery for it that lasts 6-8hrs+, that would be awesome. its a good enough machine that they should make it a modular line, batteries, grips, disposable grips etc.
At what voltage are you running it? I use it at 6-7 volts and it lasts me atleast over 5 hours. I wish they sold them with 2 packs so you could switch between the two.
@@TortugaPH I saw sir audz TV here in YT... He got this unit with 2 batteries. I guess they no longer sell it with 2 packs of battery
@@TortugaPH I run it around 8.5-9 volts for lining. I drop it to 7-8 volts shading. Might just be the amazon version, I got it when they were sold out on the official dragonhawk website, Getting the mast archer 4.2mm, I run a 4.0mm FK irons EXO as my daily driver and honestly the Fold Pro, Ambitions Soldier and mast tour pro are just as good if not better.
@@corylara8081 i agree the battery pack is pretty bad on this but pen performs well. used it a few more times and it drains after 5 hours they should sell this as a bundle with a spare pack
@@valeriksart47 yeah been getting messages saying they sell packs for this. kinda wish they did a bundle where it comes out cheaper if you get the spare battery along with the machine rather than separate.

I just got my mast flip 2 weeks ago now I got my eyes on the fold , I’m new to tattoo but loving it , I have art background so that’s helping, if things work out tattooing for me I will need a second machine so the fold it will be , I did three practice skins already and made 4 tattoos on my self , will continue wAtching ur videos my brother it’s been a big help

hi there!I have one too.What voltage do you use it for lining?I usee to ru it at 8.3 but i have seen that on reel skin it tears it...On human skin though i didnt have any problem...any ideas?
I only line with 8volts for bigger needle groups. 7 for 1-7rl slow hand speed.

I had my stroke on 4.2 mm( dragonhawk fold pro) and used a 3 rl to make the lines . I noticed that the reel skin (if i stretch it) looked liked having cuts on the lines i made(not through cuts)...Is this normal?Then i tried to lower the voltage from 8v to 7, 6 and even 5 volts and at 4.7 volts was ok.But isn't this too low?

An adjustable stroke pen is good if you want to learn how to use different stroke settings. It's a more advanced machine but more useful for learning. The mast archer with a fixed stroke at 3.5 is a good beginner machine as well. 3.5 is kinda the best all around stroke. If I were you I'd start with a regular mast flip.

Does this machine have a problem with overheating like other Dragonhawks? I just had my second machine overheat and die on me. I like to run my liners around the 8-9v range but they can't handle the voltage for too long before they overheat and just die, which happened with my Mast Zion, which is advertised to run at a start of 9v. Looking for an honest answer, I know this is a sponsored video but I can't afford to have to spend $200+ every month when my machines die on me.
And is there anything I can do to prevent this and still run the voltages I prefer? I didn't think 8-9v was too much for my machines but I guess they can't handle my smoke. 😂
I'm sure it can handle the voltage but will probably drain pretty fast. Max 4 hours. The battery in this machine isn't that great. You'll be better off with a fixed stroke pen or a pen with a strong battery. Examples are mast archers and the mast flip pro. Those can run high volts and have long lasting batteries. Just a tip when it comes to batteries. It's best not to completely drain them although I always do. Also don't over charge the meaning try not to leave it charging overnight.
@@TortugaPH Hey thanks for the response. I did order one anyways because it has the ability to use an RCA cable but I'll probably use it as a backup machine more. I was looking at the archers and I had the chance to borrow one from a fellow artist and it did actually hold up pretty well so I'm gonna grab one of those eventually as well.
Good to know, I had my eye on this. I normally only use the high $$ machines & I run my lines at 12v & shading 10v so I’m sure I’d get like an hr out of battery lol

No problem I think they have a package now that comes with a spare battery. Which is the weak point of the machine. I like it alot don't get me wrong just needs more batt or spare batt.

Hey what do you think. I am looking to start out and cant decide between fold pro, flip pro, x7, and racer. Does adjustable stroke really matter over having something thats 3.5 mm stroke like x7? From what ive read 3.5 is very versatile but dont know because I dont have hands on experience. Also, is brushless worth it over coreless? Thanks for your time.
I'd get either flip pro or fold pro then re invest into a steady stroke machine 9nce you find your ideal stroke. You probably end up with a few down the line specific for each need. Be it stronger lining or soft shading.

Depends on the kind of work. Build wise I do like fold more. The flip has more power thou and a better battery
@@TortugaPH for mandalas (with some linings) and dotwork 4 or 4.2 stroke is better than 3.5, right? because i am thinking about getting mast lancer with stable 4.2 stroke instead of fold pro because fold pro has worse battery.

I liked the fold pro best among the recent ones. For lining and everything. I also like the mast sensor which is about 4 months old but really good machine

@TortugaPH just an all rounder really but one that has enough hit to punch out some larger lines. I'm a little worried that my shading won't be so smooth with 4mm stroke on the racer.
i was torn between the racer and fold pro. but ending buying the fold pro, way versatile at any stroke. 3.7 , 3.4 sumthing would soften the shade more
