I feel this song so much. Tears streaming constantly from my eyes the first time I heard it. I found out a couple of days later that baba yetu means "Our Father". So much joy in my heart that this is a Christian prayer ❤️
I recognized this amazing composition in the first two seconds with the cymbal rattle. I almost fell out of my chair, was surprised, open mouth shocked to hear it. Loved it!
We watched this in seminary and I instantly recognized it from Civ 4. It turns out this song was created specifically for that game and is the only song from a video game to ever win a Grammy
Thank you Alex for such a powerful and magical performance I haven’t stopped watching this and I never will Alex deserved a standing ovation from everyone for not just sheer guts but for breathtaking self belief
WOW WOW WOW AS CATHERINE SAID MAY NOT BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE LANGUAGE SUNG BUT THE LORDS PRAYER TRANSLATES INTO ANY LANGUAGE BECAUSE MUSIC IS THE COMMON THREAD TO UNDERSTANDING EACHOTHER AND ACCEPTING WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENCES BUT WE ARE ALL THE SAME AND MUSIC AND THIS PREFORMANCE JUST SHOWED THAT GOD BLESS ALL BECAUSE WE CAN ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE IF WE JUST ACCEPT WE ARE DIFFERENT BUT THE SAME WE ARE ALL BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF GOD :);):):):)
I would love someone to let me know what he's singing at the section around 1:30, I can't find any lyrics for this anywhere (only for what the second singer is singing)
Baba yetu, yetu uliye Mbinguni yetu, yetu, amina Baba yetu, yetu, uliye Jina lako litukuzwe Baba yetu, yetu uliye Mbinguni yetu, yetu, amina Baba yetu, yetu, uliye Jina lako litukuzwe Utupe leo chakula chetu Tunachohitaji utusamehe Makosa yetu, hey Kama nasi tunavyowasamehe Waliotukosea, usitutie Katika majaribu, lakini Utuokoe, na yule, milele na milele Baba yetu, yetu uliye Mbinguni yetu, yetu, amina Baba yetu, yetu, uliye Jina lako litukuzwe Baba yetu, yetu uliye Mbinguni yetu, yetu, amina Baba yetu, yetu, uliye Jina lako litukuzwe Ufalme wako ufike utakalo Lifanyike duniani kama mbinguni, amina Baba yetu, yetu uliye Mbinguni yetu, yetu, amina Baba yetu, yetu, uliye Jina lako litukuzwe Baba yetu, yetu uliye Mbinguni yetu, yetu, amina Baba yetu, yetu, uliye Jina lako litukuzwe Utupe leo chakula chetu Tunachohitaji utusamehe Makosa yetu, hey Kama nasi tunavyowasamehe Waliotukosea, usitutie Katika majaribu, lakini Utuokoe na yule msiba milele Baba yetu, yetu, uliye Jina lako litukuzwe Baba yetu, yetu, uliye Jina lako litukuzwe

Here’s an English translation: “Baba yetu,” in English, is “our Father.” This is the translation for the entire song. Our Father, our Father Our Heaven, our amen! Our Father who art in you M Your name be glorified. give us today our food What we need, forgive us Our mistake, hey! As we forgive them Do not blame those who have wronged us In temptation, however Deliver us from the wicked one! Let your kingdom come Let it be done on earth as it is in heaven. Go to google translator and you can get the Portuguese translation if that works better for you.
From google, here’s the Portuguese translation: Nosso pai, nosso pai Nosso céu, nosso amém!
Lacks the dignity of then Lords Prayer / Our Father, and the Church of the Latter Day Saints tends to ignore that the gospel ended 1800 years before Smith.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints witnesses of Jesus Christ as the Son of God, Redeemer, and Savior to all who accept Him and believe on His name.
What the hell is with this dude trying to be the new Baba Yetu Michael Jackson!? This music doesn't need you to sell it with a stage performance... relax, and don't take away from the choir. Thanks
Alex Boyé made a total idiot of himself on this rendition. By far the most tone-deaf (literally and metaphorically) rendition I've seen of this wonder by Christopher Tin.
The director, or whomever hired the choreographer should be fired. This is the Lord's Prayer! Not an opportunity to try to get movement out of a bunch of white boys who can't more and black girls whose stereotyped movements have zero to do with the words/lyrics. This is actually offensive and painful to watch. Even Alex is entirely over the top with his pseudo-Michael Jackson moves. This is particularly disappointing since the video, which the BYU men's chorus & orchestra did of this song, is actually extraordinary. If you think I'm being unreasonably hypercritical just for the sake of hating on the work, just go back and watch that video. And read my comments there! That was phenomenal. This performance, unfortunately, was a crass, amateurish and offensive disappointment. Especially, compared to it.
I'm actually in agreement with you. It also sounds like the small ensemble lip-synched to that recording as well. Their steps are pretty much what they've done while performing this song for years.
It's amazing how you can feel the lords prayer even though the language is different. Or not my language . I feel it. Know what I mean.
That’s the power of music. It’s what I love about it. It reaches another level of people and it soars. It’s an amazing feeling.
Linda musica parabéns a todos

When i listen to this song ,tears start to fall down .may God bless you all
African voice is very distinct it's really good to listen.
This performance deserves an OVATION standing up and clapping very hard.

Essa música é maravilhosa! Com ele cantando e a melhor Versão.
I recognized this amazing composition in the first two seconds with the cymbal rattle. I almost fell out of my chair, was surprised, open mouth shocked to hear it. Loved it!
I just discovered Alex today. He and his my today's interest. What an act.
We watched this in seminary and I instantly recognized it from Civ 4. It turns out this song was created specifically for that game and is the only song from a video game to ever win a Grammy

I think the BYU Men's Chorus has come to eat, sleep, and breathe Baba Yetu. It's pretty much become their signature song.

Baba yetu, yetu uliye
Mbinguni yetu, yetu, amina
Baba yetu, yetu, uliye
Jina lako litukuzwe
Baba yetu, yetu uliye
Mbinguni yetu, yetu, amina
Baba yetu, yetu, uliye
Jina lako litukuzwe
Utupe leo chakula chetu
Tunachohitaji utusamehe
Makosa yetu, hey
Kama nasi tunavyowasamehe
Waliotukosea, usitutie
Katika majaribu, lakini
Utuokoe, na yule, milele na milele
Baba yetu, yetu uliye
Mbinguni yetu, yetu, amina
Baba yetu, yetu, uliye
Jina lako litukuzwe
Baba yetu, yetu uliye
Mbinguni yetu, yetu, amina
Baba yetu, yetu, uliye
Jina lako litukuzwe
Ufalme wako ufike utakalo
Lifanyike duniani kama mbinguni, amina
Baba yetu, yetu uliye
Mbinguni yetu, yetu, amina
Baba yetu, yetu, uliye
Jina lako litukuzwe
Baba yetu, yetu uliye
Mbinguni yetu, yetu, amina
Baba yetu, yetu, uliye
Jina lako litukuzwe
Utupe leo chakula chetu
Tunachohitaji utusamehe
Makosa yetu, hey
Kama nasi tunavyowasamehe
Waliotukosea, usitutie
Katika majaribu, lakini
Utuokoe na yule msiba milele
Baba yetu, yetu, uliye
Jina lako litukuzwe
Baba yetu, yetu, uliye
Jina lako litukuzwe

Baba Yetu: 》YHWH
Why do people always have to add the applause by end when recording a performance show?
🙏💗🖤

그저 듣고 전율..
Uauuu!
He butchered that first verse but still beautiful
About a quarter step flat also. Really noticeable when the chorus came in in tune.
wonderful song, well interpreted, but I miss the women's voices. Great though
He wasn't articulating some words correctly , though the performance was still ok
Didn’t the LDS church at one time not accept blacks and also be extremely racist towards Africans in-general?
alejandro fernandez
He has a Kenyan accent in this song ! 😂😂😂
Kiswahili hoyeeeeeeeeeeee
You've got to scramble pretty hard to make baba yetu cringey.
He botched some of the pronunciations 😢
listen to this at speed x2
What the hell is with this dude trying to be the new Baba Yetu Michael Jackson!?
This music doesn't need you to sell it with a stage performance... relax, and don't take away from the choir.
Thanks
True also his swahili pronunciation isn’t clear like not good
This is Lord’s Prayer should be relaxed
Que genial paravilloso este es un Mundo de canciones que nos muebe y nos transporta hacia mas alla de este mundo 💔👍
Alex Boyé made a total idiot of himself on this rendition. By far the most tone-deaf (literally and metaphorically) rendition I've seen of this wonder by Christopher Tin.
It's pretty bizarre.

lol
I'm going to just say this sometimes you're not going to like every performer and that the truth if you know Alex boye this is how he performs
I'll always Love this song and meaning behind it for God, but you did make me realize such, it is a shame.
I'm actually in agreement with you. It also sounds like the small ensemble lip-synched to that recording as well. Their steps are pretty much what they've done while performing this song for years.
아자씨... 각기춤만 안하면 완벽한데 ㅠㅠ
Doooh
This must be the whitest black guy in the world. Feels like some 60 year old guy from the Midwest was asked to write an African choreography
Alex is an immigrant to the United States. He grew up in Africa and Europe.
