    In the Spring (right now!) I love to pick the bright green tips of new growth and just eat them like a snack! Lots of vitamin C and very tasty!

      Just pick and eat raw? The bark or needles or both? Does boiling the needles, like other videos show of, have similar health benefits and taste?

    • @LarkinsWildEdibles
      @LarkinsWildEdibles  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Just the inner bark has the sap with the extra sugar.

      @@LarkinsWildEdibles so all the videos of people using the white pine needles as a tea are useless and wrong? Cool insight. Thanks for sharing

      The pine needles still work but you will not get the extra sugars. The pine needles and the inner bark, have the same vitamins and minerals.

    Interesting. I always thought it was the needles in the tea. Could you do both?
    I just received 5 two year old seedlings but some of the needles are turning brown already. Would using the cortex of those be worth it?

    • @LarkinsWildEdibles
      @LarkinsWildEdibles  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use both the needles and cortex, for tea. And I don’t recommend using any pine needles that are turning brown. The nutrients is not going to be there. Just use green pine needles.

    have you tried ponderosa pine needle tea?

    • @LarkinsWildEdibles
      @LarkinsWildEdibles  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So, no I have not tried ponderosa pine. I live in Maine. We do not have that species of pine here.

      oh, i see.....
      quite a few sources say that it's poisonous as well as norfolk island pine..... but there are others who say that ponderosa is not toxic.
