- Full titles read: "Roland - of the Berlin Zoo." (new title) "One of the world's largest sea elephants, Roland, consumes exactly 150 lbs of fish per day. He is the leader of the 'Eat more Fish' Brigade."

Various shots show an enormous elephant seal called Roland, coming out of his pen and into his pool at Berlin Zoo. His keeper says "Good morning" to him and feeds him several fish. Roland then lumbers out of the water and sits beside the pool, putting his head up and back to take fish gently from the keepers hand - Roland must be about 12 ft long! Roland twitches his nose, and opens his mouth to make a growling noise.

As cute as he is all I can think of how terrifying it could be if it gets in a bad mood, a small one is dangerous but one his size could bend steel bars without trying just my leaning against them.

Roland died in 1935 because of a lung edema. His body was stuffed and showed in a museum in Berlin. It was destroyed in 1944 during an air raid.
After him there were four other Rolands:
Roland II died in 1938. He had a "wive" named Freya who died in 1939.
Roland III died in 1944 because of shrapnell wounds when the zoo was bombed.
Roland IV died in 1961 because he ate things visitors had thrown into his home. In contrast to the other four Rolands who were southern elephant seals he was a northern elephant seal.
Roland V died in 1970. He also had a "wive" named Bollie who also died in 1970.

Sea elephant is bigger then seal much bigger and its have longer nose
@@krystiankakol6547 this seal lacks the long nose of a sea elephant. Berlin Was a center of the chemical industry in this time. I guess there were mutagenic substances in his food!

He’s a teenager, teens don’t have ‘‘em long trunks yet hahah
@@Melody1474 Not really, it's a fully mature southern elephant seal. They don't have a full on trunk like Northern elephant seals, only a very big nose
