they were the only thing that help my chronic depression. it's a nasty ass bitch but it's like he wrote a lot of them for me bc they reflect exactly how i feel

So as me.. I'm 48
I love The Cure. They have made my life more complete since 1985 when I discovered them at age 22. I was living in Encinitas, CA at the time. Life was so...........Good.

I wonder if Robert, when he looks at old song titles, thinks, "What was I thinking to call a song 'Splintered in her head'?" ....cool song and those murky early years were so interested. New Day is another incredibly atmospheric darkish song that my younger teenage self reveled in and wondered what does he mean??

I got to see them play The Exploding Boy live, but not in 85. I saw them play it in San Diego 5 years ago (I think it was around 5 years ago). Seeing my all time favorite song performed live made it the greatest day of my life.

Nice stuff here - I'm not sure how some of these songs fell out of circulation live, they are great. I guess I can understand the occasional forgotten lyric when the band has been going for 40 years :)

Can feel that Bob doesn't like Torture anymore... I have read somewhere that he hated the entering part. A bloody great track in my opinion, even though the very beginning of the song isn't its best part. The rest if it makes it up for sure!

The first song's guitar sounds like The Loudest Sound.
It's a pity that on the current tour (2022) you won't be surprised with some more rarely played 'pearls'. If you read the setlists......actually very static and with the 'greatest hits' and exactly the same encores. What's the matter with you guys??? With this huge euvre behind you, it should be quite easy to vary something from place to place! HERE, this would be a dream as a whole, to give a concert without all the pop hits, many B-sides and the songs 'in between'. Even those have infinitely more talent and substance than 2/3 of today's 'pop music' with autotune and all that plastic shit! Honestly....

Hey man, totally standing in solidarity regarding he and Mary’s decision to not have kids.
Why? Well, my reason is I was born with a chronic, terminal condition that has left me without this ability UNLESS I undergo a slightly expensive surgery. Cool, doable, but then someday I have to explain that “Dadddy has to go away and you cannot follow him.” This would be the beginning of a SHIT STORM. about life, death, and consciousnesses. I had to learn these things very early in life, and
they STILL make me unsettled. The song “The Boy I Never Knew” is a song about that very issue: regrets about not having children near your twilight years....
Or losing a child as in my case. He does say years ago as if there was a child or in their case a miscarriage.

Hearing I Don’t Know What’s Going On live is just more evidence that The Cure 2004 would have been a much better album had Ross Robinson stayed clear the f’k away from the Producer’s chair.
