Good video. I got looking for a solution when I want the same color for may two or more options in the list. Say for example there is "aborted" in the options, and I want the cells color to be red just as "Not started" is there a way to use statement such as OR to combine this rule without having to do another line of conditional formatting for "aborted"?
I need something similar but can't find it :'( please help! :') I need the dropdown only to change the fill color, so text can be entered in that same cell and then change the fill color. I want it for a family ruffle I'm setting up, so I can enter the initials of ticket buyers. Maybe I just need a formula that changes fill color if there is any text input in the cell.... I think I just answered my own question, didn't I? XD
I was able to do data validation and it worked. My question is. Can I make a different cell on the same row change to the same color as the data validation I set up. Example Data validation is on Column H. I have my options with custom colors. ( TC rec'd{orange}, Register sent{yellow}, Approved{green}, Pending{red})- on column B is the list of Companies I run register for. I want Column B to turn the same color as what i Selected in column H. Meaning if i select Register Sent(yellow) Column B on the same row with automatically turn Yellow. I have i exampled it right.
I have two sheets in excel, in the first sheet on cell A2 I have a text and the color are green. I want in the sheet 2 on cell A2 to have the same color green. If I change the color on sheet 1 ex yelow automatically change in the sheet 2 the cell A2 in yellow. I have text not numbers in the cell . Conditional formatting not help me because I don't have numbers, I need something like conditional color, I don't know, can you help me ?
hi thanks, for this tutorial. I have a follow up question if you dont mind. in the sample above, is it possible for the product name to automatically change its color as well when status is changed? example if completed is seleted, the status goes green right? how about the text in product name, is it possible to turn green as well?
Can you assign a symbol for the option chosen? When I format the cell option to be complete, can I have a green tick inserted in the space, rather than the word complete in a green cell? Thanks for your help.
ok but how do i create a dropdown list FOR colour values for instance if i have a certain chapter, i want to be able to be able to make it green if im confident with it, instead of writing complete to the right and formatting that instead, to save space
I have just discovered when i add in a new rows in between existing rows the choice does not include the colour ? how do i get the colour to be added everytime i add a new row?
Good tutorial BUT this didn't work for me until I created a list of options in the sheet. I just created the list of options a random place far down in the sheet so that it didn't appear up in proximity to my project plan (which is what I use the sheet for - not that that's relevant to this). Once I had that list I could use the list as a data point and THEN follow this video guide and now everything looks good. Thank you.
I have a column with due dates in it. I want the user to be able to select from a list the colour to change the cell to, without changing the contents of the cell (in this case, the date). Can I do that?
It worked!!! Thank you so much! So easy to follow and understand!
Thank you so much! I was only able to change the one cell and couldn't figure out how to do it for the entire column. THANK YOU!!
This is really good. Can you crate a graph or table with analysis from row E?
This video trully help me, thanks men 👍👍👍👍👍👍
what if I want the hole row with color ??
Thanks for this! is there a faster way to colour the drop down list if you have close to 10 options?
Not that I know of
Thank you i have been trying to do this for a long time .😃

Awesome. Thanks!
Thank you very helpful ❤
Great work.

How can one add colour validation to a drop down list that is used across multiple tabs?
Thanks. Very useful

In the conditional formatting “Applies to” section you just need to enter the range which you want to turn yellow in this case the column B

Yes, apply the conditional formatting to the product name cell as well.

Nice one!
Excellent - Thank You

How do you make the color apply to the whole row
In the “Applies to” section mention the range of cells where you want to apply the conditional formatting
I have just discovered when i add in a new rows in between existing rows the choice does not include the colour ? how do i get the colour to be added everytime i add a new row?
Apply the conditional formatting to the entire column.

You need to add another column with the Dropdown of the Color and when you select the Color from the Dropdown the Date cell color will change.
Could you please do a progress bar
Did this a year ago :)
