Nice review definitely on par with the 'Vacuum Wars' channel review. I was totally blown away by the 'Vacuum Facts' channel testing and review, which really does set the benchmarks for the entire internet, but this was also very interesting. I really want to buy one of these now...but that price!
Thanks so much, Paul! Vacuum Wars is a great channel. I've always been impressed with his content and testing. To even be considered at the same level is high praise. I haven't seen Vacuum Facts, but I'll check out. Glad to hear our video was helpful!
The tests were done in boost mode. I like to see it done in auto mode to see how effective the sensor working in tandem with the motor to be effective. The vacuum can have the strongest suction but if auto mode is not effective then motor may not give enough power for suction
Finally a new Dyson vaccum with a button you push once to get it running instead of a button you need to hold in to get it running, Dyson please make every future vaccum with that kind of button so you dont need to hold it in with you're finger to get it running
I intended to buy Dyson Gen5 Detect. I really like it and it fits my needs..The only problem is that there are some negative reviews on TH-cam, and I had read the comments of some customers,All of them agreed that Dyson Gen5 Detect is having problems with carpet.. I don't know how true this is, but so far I can't take the risk
Hard to imagine what those users could be complaining about. The Gen5 is easily the best cordless vacuum ever created. It has the most suction power of any cordless vacuum and more suction than all but the absolute highest end corded upright / canister vacuums.
If your carpet has a thick and/or dense pile, the cleaner head will create a stronger seal requiring you to open the front gates or decrease the suction power. The cleaning performance shouldn’t be reduced with the gates open since the thicker pile will still create a good seal. Your best bet is to buy from a place that allows returns, but make sure you know the return policy so you don’t get screwed over (such as not allowing returns if the vacuum has been opened and used). You should be fine as long as it doesn’t stall out on the normal/auto mode. If you have to run on eco mode in order to work, you’d probably be better off with a lower model that doesn’t have as much suction since you won’t be able to use that extra power afforded by this model.
I just got a gen5 and ran into the rug issue. I can only vaccum with the gates open otherwise the head stops. I can get away with the gates on the middle on eco but barely. I can't use boost mode on anything. The vaccum is so powerful even with the gates open I was seriously impressed with how much junk ended up in it. I was using a Animal 3 corded and I'm honestly impressed with the gen5.
This one or the v15 detect Labor Day sale starting soon. I’m going get this one or the v15 only thoughts is between having to hold a button down to use the v15 vs not having to with this one.
Gen5 is definitely the better vacuum...so it really is more of a question of price difference between the two and whether or not that's worth it to you.
Awesome review man 👍 I just watched your other review on the Gen 5 Detect Outsize, I am stuck between the 2 now. I honestly want the best one out of the 2. Which one would you recommend ?
If you've got a house that's 2500 sq. ft or more I'd say go Outsize. A larger home will benefit more from the larger dust bin and extra battery. However, with a smaller home you'll still have plenty of run time / dust bin size with the Gen 5 Detect.
Why is the sand just layed on top of carpet in these tests? I would like to see how well it sucks up when it's been walked on a ton, really gotten down into the carpet to simulate an actual household. This is only realistic if you get around your house by hovering.
It's a fair question. In the past we've done what I called "embedded dirt" test where we do just that...take sand, sugar, dirt, mud, etc. and grind it into the carpet. However, we really weren't seeing significant differences in performance on those tests compared to the tests you see here. The vacuums that did well in our standard tests did well in our embed tests, and the vacuums that did poorly in one test did poorly in the other. Ultimately, I believe our test as its done here is providing us with reliable and consistent data that showcases the best performers.
HA!!!! He didn't give a specific weight,...which means it's heavy. As always,...I will wait for the rich people to sell there's and buy it at a serious discount.
Hilarious... 7 minutes run time. Unless you want to use significantly less suction. If only they stopped pretending sticks are good for the whole house. They're great for hard floors only. And extremely handy. Just stop misleading people!
Well said! Sticks are great for a quick cleanup of hard surfaces but OVO central vacs and Miele canisters are vastly superior and can last for decades. If you have miles of thick carpeting and want the best deep cleaning, Kirby all the way.

Indeed - seems like they are heading that direction. Hopefully it stays.
I just bought this as bday gift for myself, and the button was the main reason I paid extra 100e instead of buying the V15. Love it!
My best vacuum cleaner yet. Love mine!
Nice! Glad to heara it's working.

Do a video on the best shower filter head.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll see if that's something we can do in the future.
Maybe I missed this in the video, but which setting (eco, auto, boost) were the debris tests done on?
All of our performance tests are done on max suction for every vacuum unless otherwise specified.
Do you think that the dyson gen5 detect can replace an upright vacuum?
Definitely
Naw… I rather buy 3 animal 3 on Black Friday and still have an extra $100 leftover instead

The other issue with the outsize is stock of parts...
Will be interesting to see how the Dyson robot vac does when it comes out.
Definitely. We'll plan to buy it and test as soon as it comes out.
Can you please tell me why brush not rotating
Most likely it's dead. There is no on / off switch on it...so if it's got power, but still not rotating it's dead.

I'm torn between the gen5 detect and the Samsung bespoke jet.
Help?
If money is no object the Gen5 is the clear choice.
That said, as far as value vacuums go, the Samsung Bespoke is incredibly in that respect.
Don't ever buy samsung bespoke. Rubbish.
@@yasminibz9270 thanks. We ended up with the gen5 detect complete
What should i buy this dyson or samsung bespoke jet?
Dyson
It was a notably better performer compared to the Samsung Bespoke Jet

@@lygophilia4127 You're welcome
if you have wooden floors you don't need a powerful vacuum,. You could just get a basic cheap cordless vacuum with good hepa.
I don't think I've ever seen a cordless vacuum I'd call cheap that also had a good HEPA filter.
Good HEPAs are always on the more expensive vacuums.
@@ModernCastle get the cheapest cordless Dyson from older model. All that power is needless for hard floors. Carpet is where you need the power.
@@Theloverboy2987 Yeah, that's fair. Anything V7 or higher would be sufficient.
My arms getting swole using it 😂

I wonder how this performs compared to a Samsung bespoke jet.
We may be able to do a comparison in the future...probably a big wrap up Dyson Gen 5 vs. Samsung Bespoke vs. Samsung Jet 90 vs. LG Cord Zero, etc.
Can you do this today?? Torn between the two
Just buy a Miele. No fancy design features. Just does a good job
Miele brilliant C3 will last a lifetime with superior HEPA filtration. I would agree that stick vacs are nice for quick hard surface cleanups.

It weighs 7.7 pounds.
That's pretty lightweight in my book.

Why are you in such a hurry... Go to the bathroom and finish the video calmly.
Most people on TH-cam prefer a faster pace. So that's what we do.
If you prefer you can adjust the playback speed in TH-cam's player.
