I'm glad more artist are tackling this style of music. It feels like HfM has been carrying the whole team on their back for years so it's nice to see some new blood throw themselves into the mix.
Monodrone... man whole new level. Most electronic music is just beats with cut out mellodies but this guy... He make a lot more that just tracks he creates emotional scenery to bath you sences with. Anyway what exactly is the name this genre? Vaporwave is on many youtube tags but it ain't seems to me this is correct.
@@simeonmargaritov516 Seems like the community has welcomed "barberbeats" as the title for this genre with open arms. I here for it, keeps the esoteric nature of the soundscapes while paying homage to the OG.
@@SkyIsTumbling Making it sure, listening no. You call it popular yet nearly everyone I see in barber beat comment sections is scattering to find a term for this "amazing new genre" and so they name it after someone who popularized it in the vaporwave community despite not really making vaporwave but only plays into its aestethics. Even HFM himself said that he doesnt want to be associated with barber beats, which I find hilarious considering its origins. Don't get me wrong, I get it, lounge music as it is popularly defined today has merged with generic house music and other shit, finding music like this is becoming harder if you don't know where to look. I think its just the disassociation from the sample origins and the current audience that irks me, many seem so clueless. You keep doing your thing though, appreciate your channel.
@@GAZEREAPER I knew about lounge music for long enough but it never really dawned on me how much I loved the sound until I found macroblank. Then I broke off from there. The sound of barberbeats is distinct and refined, it's something past just lounge music to me. That might be pretentious though
Oh man, the third track is nuts. I love when the weird pads at around 9:52 start to swell and step over the mix. After two decades of sidechain compression and multiband compressors, I'm ready to hear instruments compete in the mix and lose again.

Aww yeah Barber Beats algorithm
I still find it so bizarre that seemingly no one in the barber beats community knows that lounge music has been a thing for decades.
to even make it though you need to know its origins lol, you're seemingly forgetting that lounge musics been popular for like forever lol

@@ember4303 yes, it presents a distinct sound within lounge music as lounge music as a whole diluted over time. it's not pretentious at all :)
Now that I’ve discovered this, I don’t feel like listening to anything else. No music has been able to reflect my emotions so well.

I can see Nujabes, but Seba's collection to me feels more uplifting. This and HfM seems more low-key and loungey.
