    Another great and practical video.
Had the same problem on deck when replacing the anchor winch of our 1976 Nicholson 35.
The positive side of it was that we then knew the cause and (!) were able to repair only locally.
I hope that a cause in this boat’s hull can also be found!
    Regards, Harry

Yes I know the cause and as its a clients vessel didn't want to go into that but its a valid point. Deck locker drains drilled and a number of fastenings through the core is the most likely in this instance.

Yes decks are always a problem where a fitting goes through. The winch area should have had an area releaved of core.

erghh, balsa in the hull... very common use in decks of course

So where do you go from there

Very good question. Depending on fit out either cut internal and replace from inside or if she has complicated internal fit out replacement externally but not for the faint hearted. Costs potentially Depending on affected area could exceed the vessel value.

BER Oh no, if it's in an isolated area then possibly not but what's the chances of that.

@Mike_Shaw often depending on the cause. West epoxy make an expanding foam epoxy that's quite successful

Any bets whoever surveyed it before used the wrong hammer and did not understand his findings. Metal hammer is the only way.
