I have to wonder why a vehicle like this wouldn’t just come with AWD? So you have all the bulk of a AWD SUV, without the benefits? I like the Outlander just fine but 2WD seems silly. I’d love the Plug in model. Only ommision is it loses the jump seat in the back, a major stand out for this vehicle.

I have a friend in Australia with the Turbo Diesel Outlander with the 6 speed Auto, now the performance is good an quite brisk, however the Diesel is expensive to service ever 7,500 Km at around $400 a time [which is as hell of a lot for what is basically an oil change and filter only], also, the engine oil tends to get diluted with Diesel fuel, apparently a legacy of the need to do a "burn" when necessary to incinerate the particles in the filter at a very high temperature, his model has the on demand all wheel drive and whilst it is a good driving vehicle, he is having second thoughts as to whether he should have bought it, The four cylinder petrol version with a 6 speed auto would probably be the best option but they insist on using the CVT.

Service intervall in Germany for the diesel is 20000Km. Yes the oil gets diluted but that's ok. There is an extra indicator on the measuring stick (I dont know what that is called in english) to where the oil can be diluted. The torque is much better than with the petrol version and that is needed if you want to tow stuff. I'm very happy with my diesel. Cheers
