Man that's a great Vídeo, my favorite part, is when you hear a station calling using the phonetic alphabet Wrong like "Ontario sugar Toronto" and you respond "ok Oscar Sierra Tango"😂 great job.
Hello Paul, First of all, thank you for introducing the antenna. I used a similar antenna a long time ago, but I discovered that it is very bad (especially on the 80m band) to use a magnetic base of any type. Unfortunately, the capacity to the car plate (roof) is far too small. Furthermore, it is too short for 80m to be any efficient. I would say that all bands over 40m work OK with it. I wish you and your family happy easter. 73 de DF7PI, Bernd
It’s rather similar to the _Comet “Toybox”_ antenna, except the 80 meter section is included in the main coil, rather than as a separate coil on the _Comet._ Also, the _Comet_ only has a single whip antenna with no hex key to lock it into place. *73 de AF6AS in **_“DM13”_** land*
I bought the same Antenna as an „Outbacker“ right after my exam. It sounded very tempting at first. All the bands in one portable Antenna. However I do not recommend it to new hams. Rather have an EFHW in a tree or dipole. The efficiency is very bad of this antenna.
That antenna looks very much like the Moonraker SPX-100. Only difference is it uses a telescopic whip to aid in tunning. Funny thing is I was experimenting with mine this afternoon with a nano vna. Best wishes David M0DUU
@@OM0ET ok, my antenna was given to me because the chap couldn't tune it. I discovered the wire link was open circuit. I have yet to use it on the air. Hopefully when the weather gets warmer I will be out portable again. Look forward to anymore videos you make on that antenna. Certainly work nicely.
It may be possible to couple the antenna to the car better without the rubber pads on the magnet. It would also possibly scratch the paint. Perhaps something thinner under the magnets would get better performance. Also ground the exhaust to the body with a strap. .

Thank you very much Bernd for this info! 😉👍 also for your comment! Happy Easter and 73!
This antenna is a dummy load - does not resonate in any band.
Built off the old "outbacker" antenna from years ago...wonder how it would do on the higher bands?
On 80m you have provide conterpoises or directly connect ground to car chassis.
I added this antenna to my collection and did a POTA with it. Longest qso was just under 2000miles
Great video! I use wax-paper under the rubber booties. The wax-paper help to preventing scratches. God bless and all the best, 73
Excelente !
What about voice portion of 40M how to set? 73 DE W8LV
Thanks Paul great job 73 from kb2uew
Thanks for a detailed video
Reminds me of the old "Outbacker" antenna
Can't find this antenna anywhere in the United States right now 😤

Hello thanks for information on this antenna , do you think it s a good choice together with QT80 radio ?
Greetings from Denmark
Does it not work on 10 meters? I don't see 28MHz listed on that guide
It does

Are these only available in Europe?
What type of antenna was that on your house roof? Is it for HF as well?

No, no, the SPX-100 is much lighter and smaller antenna. I have one too 😉

Hello Omoet. Nice. May be try this antenna with uvk5 in rx ? With the sister card 😉
Sure it is possible :) Antenna on the car and connected to the UV-K5
Nice antenna!
Do you think the outdoor elements will affect the open coil taps?
Thanx again!
Hmm, no I don't think so. It may change impedance, but not so much.
Fantastic 👍👍

It should be also something RF conductive.
@@OM0ET Possibly farady fabric.
Hi this antenna you are using can you use on the 27megs band cheers
Yes
Why don't they use fertile like used on Dremel tools to hold whip so you just undo nut and slide. Simple idea
Muito bom, parabéns 73 de PY1OTN
Like the mfj model.
Much better than the MFJ
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🙏
😀
Awful and inefficient antenna.
Always pull it up by the base magnet brother. It really weakens that joint (s). ✌️
