Here's a video that shows very clearly what I am called upon to do in the studio sometimes. I do seven versions of the solo while watching the chord chart.
The chart is important because I have to pay attention when the band goes to A minor..
it's a twist because the rest of it is in E major.

Late to this one, but loving' it just the same...That's a real PRO. the cuts, they keep getting better. When tracking, after three takes or more, I have done my best & lose inspiration & it goes downhill from there. Now, sometimes, after a break, I can come at it more fresh. But Tim..just wow!

Tim Pierce is so underrated it’s not even funny. He is as good as any of the greats of our time, I put him in there with Jeff Healy, Steve Via and Slash on his worst day. To boot, he seems like a real down to Earth guy, I once commented on a video he made and he sent me a message from his iPhone. I wish I could meet him and just jam at a cook-out… but I’m a just a guy who plucks on my guitar in my living room and I get to an open mic night now and then. I learned a lot from his videos. God speed Mr. Pierce!

Fascinating insight into the session world! For what it's worth, I liked the third 'style' best as well, although it's hard for us to hear which really worked 'the best' without hearing the backing tack. Superb tone too! I love that tone on a Strat and use it lots on my Suhr S4...probably too much really. Nice to hear you using it. Do keep these amazing videos coming please. I learn colossal amounts every time I watch one. Many thanks.

I just got back into playing electric guitar and I have learned more in the past 10 days than I probably learned in the previous 10 years from his videos...especially when it comes to the Hendrix stuff. I never thought I'd be able to play his stuff much less being able to add my own touches in and actually have them sound good!

Thank You for posting this video Tim. I feel a little better about myself now and the way I track guitar. Sometimes I do too many takes on a small section of music and stress on it a lot :( But I see now that I does require more than a few takes to really capture what the Producer wants. Thanks Tim Keep Rockin!!

So interesting to see how similar this is to the voice over sessions that I am used to doing. Sometimes you just gotta try stuff and see if the producers/director or you yourself even like it....and sometimes if you're really lucky (or just "on").. it's brilliant! It sure beats 9 to 5!!

Wow, that`s awesome! I`ve always wondered about the differences in quality between world class professionals and us mere mortals and I have to say this just blew my mind. I usually only have one good take in me and even then there are parts that need to be corrected so as to sound as close to perfection as they should. There`s a huge difference in the quality of my playing when alone and relaxed or in the studio, I wonder if that`s something that happens to you too or are you just so incredibly talented and experienced that stress plays no role in your performance?
