My two summer purchases: the 2x4x6 cuboid and the face-turning octahedron - both eluded me as the busy summer months passed. I tried other tutorials because yours can be lengthy sometimes. Foolish me! Returning to your *EXCELLENT* tutorials means I completed the only two UNsolved puzzles in my collection in two nights! And best of all - I *understand* what I'm doing, not just memorizing algorithms. SAV - Another spectacular tutorial and I won't let impatience sway me in the future. In case you ever doubted it, you are much appreciated in the cubing community and very much so by me as well. Thanks, man. Great job as always.
I just used a 3x3 with only 3x3x4 turns to develop algorithms to solve the last layer! It’s the first time I ever developed algorithms, (one for edges one for corners), used another cube to simulate the movement characteristics, and used a 3 cycle as one of the algorithms to move the corners how I saw fit! Anyway I picked all of this up from watching your videos over the past couple of years that I’ve been cubing thanks 👍
Thanks a lot! Your tutorial helped me solve my puzzle! i couldn't understand other tutorials, and i just found out that you are VERY GOOD at explaining how to solve.
Thank you so much for this! The only thing I ask is posting the algorithm for the centers part cuz I had to rewatch that part like 10 times to get it right. Here it is for those who don't know: r' R' L R r R' L' R
Great tutorial! Not only a nice explanation on how you came up with the algorithms from other cubes, but also a great and easy to remember solution for the entire puzzle by just repeating a few steps over and over again. Thanks to this tutorial I solved my new Face Turning Octahedron. Fav., Liked & Subsc.
Do you have any videos on the Cancer Cube Eitan & Lanlan Edge Turning Octahedron? Please let me know. I haven’t found it. Thanks again for all the information.
You have actually introduced something new! You had to design a commutator! You actually don't need to. Your edge turning algorithm also cycles the centres on the top face clock or anticlockwise with the edges. You can use this to solve centres after corners and then when all centres are solved you can work on edges - therefore you only need the one algorithm!
I need help... on the first part I got the bottom layer..."solved" the second layer, but not quite. All of the corners are face up with the right color, but I am left with one in the correct position, but the other two are need to be swapped. I can't figure out how to swap the two corners. Can you help me. FYI... I have solved this several times before, but this time as part of the scramble I actually twisted the corners...am I missing a step?
You can solve it only using the sune-like algorithm: first you place the vertexes, then you place the centers (the alg 3-cycles also these pieces) and finally you place the edges (when the centers are in place the alg acts like a pure 3-cycle of edges)!
I've got a truncated version of this (no corners), i tried to use your tutorial to solve it but i ran into a parody were only two edges needed to swap. Pease help!
So i was solving my face turning octahedron and came across the thought of a superoctahedron (supercube). How would the solving of the superoctahedron differ than that of the regular one?
Sure do. Here is part one where I go over the dino first and move into the rex: watch?v=n0CLiZmcRIU Here is part 2 for the rex: watch?v=MG13XYakMxs Enjoy!
This was great, but I got stuck in some places that you didn’t explain. I have two pieces that just need to be flipped (gray and green, and gray and blue. I thought that I can use an algorithm from the 4x4, but then remembered you said we are young 3x3 algorithms. Great video though.
you compared this puzzle to so many puzzles, but you did not compare it to the rex cube. It is a shape mod of the rex cube. it can be solved the same way. the only difference is the centers (the corners) have to be turned the right way.
Finally got it after trying a few different methods and this was by far the best. Thanks for always sharing your great videos.

Fascinating reasoning, adaptation, and execution.
Thank you so much! It took me a little while to get what exactly you were cycling at the end, but I got it eventually!

Thanks GML. It's fun to think of algorithms and strategies as tools, something that you can apply to a variety of situations to solve problems.

Thanks to this tutorial I solved my new Face Turning Octahedron. Fav., Liked & Subsc.
WOW!
I could actually solve the face turning!
You are a Super, sir!
Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the kind feedback tehcubedude :) I think I'm topping off at about 90 or so puzzles. But more is always on the way...
Thanks Atharv, I'm happy to help.
Could you do a tutorial on the Hexagram octahedron?
EASY TO UNDERSTAND
Wild that this video is 12 years old and the FTO is just now getting a bunch of attention from speedcubers.

You beat me to it!!!!!
Hey, hey...
Banana🍇
It's also R-U-Ri-U-R-2Ui-Ri for all three objects
I solved this, you are awesome!
Greetings from Poland ;)
Helpful video
What if you have two centers swapped on opposite sides like a red and blue one
Good question, only one way to find out...
Very nice tutorial! Thank you! :))
Can you please do a solve of Master Face Turning Octahedron ?
Thanks.
Good point!
Please do a video on how to solve an octagonal edges extended A528A00145C03. Thanks in advance and I'm looking forward to it.
@crazybadcuber Don't let that stop you, partner! Think of me as just the opening act, now be the main show :)
this video is super helpful. thanks :)
13:30 this skips the explanation :)
I did watch the explanation though, very interesting
Hmm, can you get me a picture of the puzzle or the situation that you're in? That can help.
Aha! Very cool!
Not exactly. But it can be solved similarly to a 3x3x3
Meme man wants the octahedron back
another name i would call it is the "master skewb diamond"
is this lanlan octahedron good
You mentioned you did a diamond skewb tutorial before but I couldn't find it. Could you please add a link?
I've got a truncated version of this (no corners), i tried to use your tutorial to solve it but i ran into a parody were only two edges needed to swap. Pease help!
where can the puzzle be bought?
I'm stuck on part 3
So i was solving my face turning octahedron and came across the thought of a superoctahedron (supercube). How would the solving of the superoctahedron differ than that of the regular one?
Tbh this is like solving a superflip with only U-perms
Sure do. Here is part one where I go over the dino first and move into the rex:
watch?v=n0CLiZmcRIU
Here is part 2 for the rex:
watch?v=MG13XYakMxs
Enjoy!

Question: right?
Answer:
right
IDK if it's available in any cube shop. I already figured out on how to solve it since it was just a mechanism of 3x3x3 truncated on 8 edges.
you compared this puzzle to so many puzzles, but you did not compare it to the rex cube. It is a shape mod of the rex cube. it can be solved the same way. the only difference is the centers (the corners) have to be turned the right way.
MrWhy2okay It is a rex cube shape mod!? *thinks about it* OMG IT IS!! Mind blown
so its a master skewb
Tbh this tutorial was really confusing.
29:45 is the alg this is myself tbh
28:52 AAAAAAA why did you have to include that...
Sure, if it's the skewb dodecahedron that you mean, here ya go:
watch?v=KTgv09TLFzI
