I thought for sure you’d figure out that the cat was the key to the whole thing! I was thinking a few steps ahead of you, envisioning him swinging on that original platform from your garage door. Oh well.... he did a most excellent job demonstrating the use of the cat toy that inspired you. Well done both of you!😸😽👍🏾
@@EmilysElectricOddities Seems like the z axis would show minimal change but the x and y should have given you an indication with every direction change. Those things are usually so sensitive you have to average the output.
Emily's Electric Oddities yes, I really do. Your challenge would be deciding if you wanted to do each one custom for a higher price and do the word turning yourself; have someone work with you to create a plastic commercial version; or, sell the parts as a kit with or without a turned case
That’s really kind of amazing! First, amazing job on the ball itself- it’s gorgeous! And with no effects other than motion, that has a fabulous Sci-Fi sound to it. Way to represent!
Fantastic! I started filming with 16mm 17 years ago, and just bought a new 16mm camera and 1k ‘ of film. I really appreciate what you’ve done here. Truly, Benjamin ✨👌
Very amazing and impressive project! It reminds me of a project of a german startup (the "ichó"), a ball for people with dementia which responds to sensor inputs with sound, vibrations and light. Thanks for sharing!
I was thinking about subscribing, and then you held up the cat, and I was totally sold LOL! But watching this 1 1/2 year after you made it, hearing you talk about quarantine, I can't help but worry. I hope you're doing okay now!
Great video, intro was well done! Nice story telling. Project is awesome, original idea and high level of detail. I see a CNC in your future. : ) Mahalo for sharing! :)
Love it - great project and well done. Made me think of 1970s era Doctor Who sound effects. Just a suggestion - have a read about the BBC Radiophonic Workshop if you have never come across it before - loads of inspiration for sound projects.
I've heard about the Radiophonic Workshop! The very talented Helen Leigh (check her out on Twitter) has given a couple of very well done presentations on its history.
Interesting build. I know the problem with the aluminum front panels. It is really hard to get a decent finish on them, that stays. I have watched some videos about anodizing aluminum. I have not tried it, yet, but it looks like it is not really hard. You have built it very well. It would be interesting to have a filter, that is controlled by the accelerometer instead of the pitch. And the notes are played back via a wireless Midi kind of thing.
Amazing!! It would be one of the instruments most used by Syd Barrett (Pink Floyd) in his compositions. One of their favorite toys/instruments. Who knows how it would have been "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" with Emily's synthesizer... 😉 Muchas Gracias por compartir tus experiencias 🙂
You have that way better balanced than a weeble or one of those cat toys, and it does a much better job of making absolutely, fantastically awful noises. I love this build.

Could you use a magnetometer on the pendulum? It wouldn't be affected by the acceleration. This one on a sparkfun breakout board will give you orientation data at 160hz. www.sparkfun.com/tutorials/301
I think you should patent it and sell them, even if you have already told people how to make them. Is that a contradiction? Oh well, I'm sure some people would buy them if they could.

I dare say this is the coolest project thus far! Well done.
That's quite a compliment. Thank you, Dean!
Oh, man. The drilling. Flashbacks to drilling out through-hole PCBs by hand.
I dig this. Interesting concept, and it looks very cool.
Thank you!
That is so cool! And I loved the explanation of why the pendulum idea didn't work.
Thank you!
Like I said, I'm not a physicist, so I might be totally wrong about the pendulum thing!

I’m imagining a stereo version of this. And/or hearing this through effects. Can’t say I’ve ever heard such sounds.
The pendulum and the serendipitous inspiration, super cool!
Always cool to watch someone else's process.
That is amazing! You're inspirational. I love the video production and The Orb!
So cool! Loved the freaky intro too
😎
This is f*ing brilliant!
The sounds remind me of the old black and white sci-fi movies
Amazing work! You have a lot of sweet shop stuff!
Thank you!
what a beautiful piece, so well made and sounds very unique!
What a brilliant idea and thank you so much for sharing the schematic and code.
You're welcome!
Wow! Super fun idea and excellent execution. Arrived here via the Arduino blog and I will return for more!
Thanks, Dezio!

Absolutely awesome job, very creative and fun. I always know it's good because when I see a project and wonder why I didn't think of that myself.

You could have screwed down the speaker grill plate (like you did when you sanded the circumference) when you drilled the grill holes.

Try adding:
#include
somewhere near the top of your sketch and recompile. Let me know what happens.
Also, which file from github are you using? The_Orb_final.ino shouldn't give you that problem. I don't see any usages of SIN8192 in there
