Theory of Planned Behaviour

  • The Theory of Planned Behaviour is built out of a number of constructs. The first construct is the attitude towards the act or behaviour. That is, an individual’s belief of whether a certain behaviour or act makes a positive or negative contribution to that person’s life.
    A second construct is called subjective norm. This construct focuses on everything around the individual. In other words his or her social network, cultural norms, group beliefs and so on.
    A third construct is called perceived behavioural control. This construct refers to a person’s belief of how easy or hard it is to display a certain behaviour or act in a certain way.
    We can use the theory to predict that if a person has a positive attitude towards an act or behaviour, and they are surrounded by favourable social norms and they have a high level of perceived behavioural control, these are the best predictors for forming a behavioural intention and in turn, they will lead to the person actually displaying the behaviour or act.

    This is how you teach PERIOD
    Too many professor just throw verbal diarrhea and expects you to learn. Good job on the video, I really like your teaching style. Many professors can learn something from you.

      Thanks for the video content! Excuse me for the intrusion, I would love your thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Trentvorty Kids Science Theorem (just google it)? It is a smashing one off product for becoming an excellent parent minus the headache. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my mate after many years got great success with it.

      Good point! Yes, they throw verbal diarrhea and expect it to stick! They throw paper diarrhea, too, in the form of poorly written and unfinished, insufficient notes.

    I missed the class for this topic in class and I went to my professor asking her to give me some of her time and if she could explain the topic since both her and I didn’t have any class. She just sipped her tea and said “you missed it it’s gone then you are on your own” . I can’t believe such attitude is so common in my current college. But am glad I found this video

      As a professor myself, allow me to say: that was horrible behavior, by yr Prof. Granted: we (profs) often get jaded by many students’ lazy attitudes. But 2 wrongs don’t make a right! “Jus’ sayn’.”

    While this is interesting to understand, what's more disturbing is the people with power and influence able to use this information to construct your world view for you without your knowledge or consent.

    sorry to ruin the flow of good comments, but I'm pretty sure the video is wrong
    perceived behavioral control means if you can perform the behavior at all, so in the case of the smartphone, it would be more if you think you can afford it, or can choose a phone for yourself at all. it's more like how much you think you can control your own actions.

    Could someone explain to me where a for instance "price" come in? Does that influence your "attitude"?

    • @lijiannan4598
      @lijiannan4598 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think this comes into perceived attitude (disclaimer: I am a CS student and this video is my first encounter with the theory)

    • @Anna-js6fy
      @Anna-js6fy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lijiannan4598 Yes, I think you're right. The attitude includes all the beliefs and knowledge we have about the object (phone), so the object's price would be integrated here.

    Hello dear,
    Whether TPB cover uncertain situation like in case of any robbery, fight or accident etc what we react can cover by TPB factors.
