As a Sri Lankan, I got SOOOOOOOO excited when I saw them eat the egg hoppers!! They're one of my favorite foods and I love seeing people learn about Sri Lanka!! If anyone thinks they want to try them I'd HIGHLY recommend that you do, they're great! They're also made without the egg in the middle and the batter kind of builds up in the middle and I like to eat that part with some honey.

As a lifelong resident of the United Kingdom who has had many many scrambled egg dishes I can categorically say I have never, ever heard of anyone putting anchovies on them. It might be historical but pretty sure it isn’t popular anymore… Also egg hoppers are absolutely incredible but you need a curry or a spicy Sambal to put inside it.

It's a pity they didn't try Vietnamese egg coffee (cà phê trứng). It's made by beating an egg yolk with sweetened condensed milk for about 10 minutes until foamy, then having that over coffee. Delicious!
