Wow 🤣🤣 I would have hoped to see people commenting and saying that celebrities are out of touch with the rest of society. This man said that people who are let out of jail pre trial don’t commit crimes. I guess he hasn’t been watching the news lately or better yet he lives in a gated community where they pay for cops to protect them and their property. Maybe this is why he is saying stupidity.

I really appreciate this interview with John Legend. Back in 1989 I made dummy decision and I paid for what I did by the court system. Since then I’ve had a successful career in law enforcement and now in the private sector. I truly believe that everyone deserves a second chance in life to be successful regardless of their race or fortune. Thank You, Jen. ❤

Florida’s two most populous cities, Jacksonville and Miami, each had a homicide rate more than double New York City’s last year, even though both had Republican mayors. And there are ones that go the other way. It's being overly simplistic to have ur narrative.

Why are public schools not funded equally instead of by property taxes?
If that were the case, that would mean that poor kids would get the same quality education as rich kids and gee the Republicans can't have that can they?
In California the property taxes for education all go to a pool and are allotted fairly. The problem is that wealthy communities can make up short falls. It’s very sad that we don’t tax enough so that all are adequately funded.
They receive government funding which they spend recklessly and also tax WE property owners where I live on all real estate ownership whether we have children or not. I used to feel proud that I was contributing to my community until I saw all the waste. Now I do but not happily.

As a Swede the whole notion of bail is just so - I don't know - weird. Either you are a threat to society or a flight risk etc and therefore need to be incarcerated pre-trial. Or you're not. How does a show of money make any difference in the matter? Nothing equal before the law about it...
Letting people back out onto the streets who there is evidence on for grave crimes while the investigation is being conducted is NOT safe for the community, neither logically nor in practice.
And only Democrat cities have this dangerous practice.

A recent study done here in Ireland worked out it cost €80,000+ to keep someone in prison for a year….. if 10% of that was spent on young kids it would be a massive saving for the community and the state🙏🏽🍀

John Legend does good work. But that whole "innocent until proven guilty" line came from white criminals who didn't want to see other white criminals locked up for their crimes, especially for crimes against Black people. So it was important that they proclaim white folks "innocent" because a court of law hadn't found them guilty yet (or ever, as in most cases). But "innocent" only applies in the public court of opinion, not in a court room. Notice how you can't plead "innocent"? You have to plead "not guilty" because a court of law cannot enter a plea of "innocent" into the court record before a trial. Dump pleaded "not guilty" in a court of law. He didn't plead "innocent". And he certainly doesn't look "innocent" in the eyes of the public at this point.
