The ‘demo’ is just a point cloud without any integration. From an industry stand point, digital twins are pointless since the live data comes from sensor reports, any relevant insights are already lagging indicators of the data already in hand. If you have someone who knows how to integrate the data into a digital twin, then you already have someone who knows how to interpret the raw data without the dt. The bigger issue comes up with who is going to clean and MAINTAIN the data, are you going to produce a new vr experience every time there’s an equipment change on the production line? Are you going to rescan the point clouds every retrofit? Who’s responsible for updating post build changes? Whose budget does the dt come out of, facilities, maintenance, owners? Even if it can be budgeted into the build costs, do we really want to have a database administrator on the facilities payroll?
whos paying? Execs who haven't worked a day in their life. Digital twins are a "buzz", and practicality is determinisic of the application. some industries benefit, others it's just "Shiny". your really being too broad with those questions. it really comes down to a per use case benefit analysis.
@@jonahpeele when did i ever mention exec salaries? surely you know when i mentioned that execs would be paying you realised i meant they would be signing off the budget allocations right? sounds more like your trying to make up problems. did you get burned by some DT Scenario and just gonna hate on every facet of it for the rest of your life?
@@elliottbott7213 you’ve got my number right on. I won’t PM anything with a dt involved. It’s a good litmus test to see if the developers have a clue what they’re doing or not though.
Great presentation!
so cool
I’m gonna keep nodding and pretend I understand any of this 😅

@ sounds like a solution in search of a problem. Project budgets don’t come out of executive salaries btw.
