I find routines helpful when I use them through my 1st 3 functions. So Ne supplies the ideas, Ti refines them to a goal with reasoning, Fe beings the accountability. When I can line all of that up, Si/routine becomes the most efficient way to get that outcome. That and I schedule things.

Good tips, I would add some more.
Don't think about routines as something that must be set in stone. Plan them in a way that skipping occasionally a day or two doesn't affect you much. Use an external planner.
Create weird routines: Maybe you have the best focus on studying at 4-6 am before you are distracted by anything else. Let's be it your routine and don't feel pressured like you have to do things in a certain way.

holy cow this is dead on. I have been trying to find a way for years to make myself something that I just am not. I would think / read of all these ways to be more scheduled / organized. I would love the process of learning of these ways and get very excited about them but then could never do it and not enjoy that way of life. I'm excited by the idea that there are ways for me to accomplish my goals but in a way that works with who I am and that it's ok if I can't do it in the stereotypical productive way.

"it's something we'll put a ton of time and effort into and we're just never going to get the return on it that people who have it as a driver, dominant or auxiliary copilot have"
thanks for reminding me of that. accepting stability as a recurring aspiration definitely sounds like chapter one. it's also easy to see because on the other end i indeed get a ton of results by applying Ne everywhere i can - so it's fair to have a payoff, like everyone else :)

I am a true blue ENTP. Planning is definitely not in my genes... It drives my wife nuts. I really need to learn how to operate as an ENTP entrepreneur now...
