Wow! I was all set on spending my retirement on a Yanagisawa S-W020. Thinking one of those would be more suitable for jazz compositions. The Silver Selmer SIII has such a sweet tone in the high registers. So many sopranos ... so little money. LOL Were you just using the standard mouthpiece that comes with the Selmer?

Hi mark ! I agree with you that silver-plated selmer has very sweet and great projection on higher register. But I don't like the oboe-like tone in lower register...
I am a classical music player, and I use selmer concept for my main mouthpiece.
      Hope you like this video:)

battlestupid Nice to meet you as well. I played a Yamaha 675 (I think it was) in a jazz ensemble during my senior year of high school. I fell in love with the soprano through that experience. That particular instrument was a loaner from our school’s instrument locker. I lamented having to return it when I graduated and have wanted to acquire a soprano several times over the years since then. Finally going to just get one. I could hear what you mean with the Selmer having an oboe like quality in the mid register. It’s difficult to produce an instrument that does everything without compromise. Impossible really. The Yanagisawa S-W020 sounds like it comes pretty close, though. Lol. Thanks for posting all of these recordings of your impeccable , no ... virtuoso musicianship on the sax. It’s really been a pleasure to listen to your playing.
