    Hands down my favourite on-camera microphone ever!! So grateful for Rode and their innovative products in both consumer, enthusiast and professional audio!! Not to mention I love supporting fully designed and manufactured in Australia products! Your emphasis on quality control for all your products is one of many reasons why I will always support you. Especially when so many companies that target enthusiasts like me, compromise and are constantly trying to make a quick buck on us.
    Great video Ryan!! So informative and helpful!

    The -10dB safety track is going to be a lifesaver

    • @r0z3d
      @r0z3d 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      could you please explain what exactly that is? I've not heard of it before

    • @ProartyomEtherdem
      @ProartyomEtherdem 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @apricity, it records two of the same tracks to both the L and R channel of your audio but one of channels will be -10dB lower than the original recording.
      It's pretty useful when a loud noise is unexpectedly erupt and picked up into the mic, it will always be -10dB attenuated to prevent clipping and distortion.

    • @epicbarista

      It should've always been standard... I remember when I got the Rode Pro because everybody was raving about it, and I was stunned at how user-unfriendly it was... from the awkward PITA battery compartment to the fact that you had to turn it on every. single. time. I was like, "Are you kidding me?" It had the ergonomics of something from the 70s. C'mon... and now they're giving you auto on/off like it's a luxury feature for $300? And yet once again, everyone is raving about it. I guess tech-obsessed people are easy to impress. They'll get in line for the new iPhone every year, while I'm still wondering when they're gonna give me the actual improvement worth the upgrade - faster internet and better signal.

    Nice feature additions to an already good performing mic. I presume they haven't changed the capsule in any way, but I like new new EQ options. The new power features are smart, but as 9V batteries last a long, long time, I have never run out of battery power with my Video Mic Pro. The rechargeable battery is nice, but I simply LOATH micro USB connectors. Fortunately, the VMP+ can use regular batteries after the micro USB port fails (it will). I will likely upgrade to the VMP+ as I prefer the new suspension mount over my current mic. Good job, Rode!

      if you mount a headphone to the mic and movement of that wire would cause excessive noise. Also what camera doesn't have earphone jacks? Most amateur to pro cameras have them

    Hello, I got purchase Rode Mic Pro+ and we tried to put it on our GoPro Hero 8 and do our TH-cam live streaming but we have a major issue encountered. There's a buzz sound in the Streaming Live, we set the mic settings to 150, +20db, ON Safe track feature and ON the high frequency boost. We do indoor live stream and the distance between 1m - 1.2m. Is there a best settings for Rode Mic to cut this buzz sounds?

    Hi I have constantly upgraded my RODE mics to reduce wind noise because I shoot cruise ships coming to port etc. I now have the RODE Videomic Pro Plus thinking that this would eliminate the wind noise. It still does not! Why please? Which settings on my mic do I need to change to reduce the windnoise? I also use a RODE Deadcat which hasn't helped either.Thank You

    • @rodemic
      @rodemic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there, unfortunately if you are in incredibly high winds and you aren’t receiving adequate protection from a correctly mounted deadcat, an on-camera solution may not be the best option. Perhaps a lavalier microphone with the furry windshield or a Blimp paired with a shotgun mic such as the NTG5, pistol grip and DeadWombat might be a better choice.

    I really wish you guys had added a +10db as well. That +20db is literally one notch off mute on all my Canon DSLRs and sometimes its just too high and I end up peaking/distorting. Although that safety channel might work. This does look pretty damed awesome though.

    • @rodemic
      @rodemic  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Safety channel combined with +20 means you'll have a +20 track and a +10 track simultaneously.

    im quite new to mics and learning a lot, my question is: should I just leave the high frequency boost on the whole time? if it enhances the audio, what are the downsides to continously running it?

    • @rodemic
      @rodemic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question! An important consideration when using the high frequency boost is how it would impact environmental/ambient audio, as high frequency boost focuses more on picking up the voice in noisy environments. So if in your recordings you prefer a touch of subtle ambience and environmental noise, then you probably want to use it more sparingly.

      The mic should automatically power on when it's connected to a camera that supplies plug-in power. If it isn't, you may have accidentally switched auto on/off. You can turn it back on by pressing the power and high pass filter buttons at the same time.
