Have you ever seen a 300tdi running with the cam and injection pump 180° out of time? i know its nothing to do with this video. but im in the process of putting a refurbished injection pump on. I have got all the timing kit and static pump timing kit to do it right. i did change the belt before fitting this engine in, but i did the old cut and slip with the belt 😂 so i didn't have to mess about too much, but it ran fine .now ive got a problem with the pump. i thought I'd just check it, and it's 180° out have you ever seen this or heard them being so far out and starting up ? Grate videos, you're my go-to channel for landrover mantinance and repairs
All camshafts of 4 stroke engines are what's called 'half speed cams' - that is to say the crank turns twice for the cam to turn once, so it is impossible to get the injector pump 180 degrees out. (not unless you removed the flange and put it back on wrong) I think you should look at the flywheel as there are 2 notches in it - one is larger than the other - you need the small one You can verify this by noticing the crank front keyway is at 12 o'clock - get this in the rough position and check under the engine, and you will see the smaller notch to put the pin in To verify all is well, with the pin in the flywheel, the locking pin for the injector pump pulley should drop in the hole - if it is out of line slacken the 3 bolts holding the pulley on and rotate until the pin drops in - the torque them up The camshaft has a mark on it that lines up with a pointer in the casting
Mike! always giving good tips. Thanks so much.
Any time!
