Yes. Imam ibn Taymiyyah is probably the most misunderstood man in history. He was a balanced, genius critical thinker and its unfortunate to see his works taken out of context by sectarian, close minded, zelots.

The modern Saudi Salafi(usually Hanbali) ironically share more in common with Sh.Sulayman Ibn Abdulwahab(r.h) than they do with MIAW. Their refutations of the Khwarij are almost entirely from his thought. Shaykhul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah(r.h) thought was actually used as a rebuttal against the takfir of the early Najdi movement

I don't slander or bad mouth Ibn Taymiyah or Mohammed Ibn Abd Al Wahab. I've come across many who do but I do not understand why. I stay away from stuff like that. I believe both were trying to bring back the Sunnah in its authentic form.

Is Muhammad Hijab a Salafi or does he follow a particular school of jurisprudence like Hanafi, Shafi, Hanbali, Maliki?

    BaarakAllahu feek.
I would highly advise those who have access to arabic texts, to read
إشكالية الإعذار بالجهل في المبحث العقدي
    By Sh Sultan al-'Umayri (hA).
It is one of the more balanced, and impartial books authored in this important masa'alah.
Another important thing to note is that Ibn Taymiyyah (rh) is unique in that opposing groups with diametrically opposing opinions often sight him in defence of their stances! One my mashayikh in Usul al-Fiqh, in Madinah (Sh Dr Abdullah al-Baariqi) pointed out to me: "Ibn Taymiyyah has not been read as he should have been".
As for Imam Muhammad b. 'Abdul Wahhab (rh), historically it is difficult to ascertain his exact stances, as a number of his taqrirat differ and sometimes contract one another. As a whole, the da' wah najdiyyah aren't a monolithic group with single, set opinions, but rather various, detailed and nuanced and opposing views, held by numerous 'ulama who ascribed themselves to the movement. And as a da' wah movement, much like many of those present today, mistakes were made and there was also a lot of khair present.
May Allah ta'ala forgive the mistakes of those who came before us. Aameen.

No one Should insult All these people mentioned above as by Allah they were great people however they would have not wanted such state of followship today with divisions. People take certain things out of context which can lead to great problems, as seen with certain extremist groups that have aligned their actions unjustly with such people. To call yourself salafi, hanafi etc is not accurate since you are not a verbatim student during that time. ONLY students from these eras can lable such things at best 3 generations after during such times. IAM just a muslim who follows the Quran, Hadiths and sunnah while also taking credence from the Sunni schools of jurisprudence aswell to gain further understanding, even if you agree with more than 80% of hanafi methods does not mean you are hanafi. In todays dunya, the problem is we need to label everything.

This brother made a mistake. Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab didn't launch a rebellion against the Ottoman's. Najd at this time wasn't even under Ottoman rule, and how could it be when even local tribes were warring and highway robbery was rampant at this time. Rather the Ottoman's attacked Aal as-Saud and Muhammad Abdul Wahhab when they saw their dawa spread, particularly when the news spread through the entire Muslim world that these people were protecting the Hujjaj in Mecca. Sheikh Albaani has a talk about this among many sheyookh, but his is on youtube I think.

The current crop of Salafis are SELECTIVE in what they take from Ibn Taymiyyah, who was a real scholar of Islam albeit on the conservative extremist end of the spectrum (التشدد) . They are essentially a BRITISH-SAUDI curated version of this extremism, so that they only select the parts of Ibn Taymiyyah's teachings and opinions that serve their political and social and economic agenda at a particular time, while shifting away from extremism and even adopting extremist liberalism and laxity on these same issues or other issues when it suits their agenda. If you were to take any of Ibn Taymiyyah's book, you will find that for every 1 issue that the Madkhalis/Jamiyyahs claim to be adhering to to the letter, there are 100 others that they conveniently skip or gloss over, because they don't suit them. Basically, the Madkhali version of Salafism takes the worst views selectively, and applies them in the worst manner possible, also selectively. It's the DEVIL's curated version of Islam.

    Mohammed Hijab,
Calling onto other than Allah (ie. dead people) in the form of dua or supplication is major shirk that takes him/her out of Islam whether he/she identifies him/herself as Muslim or not. Please name one reputable scholar of the sunnah who unequivocally/unambiguously states that calling onto other than Allah MAY NOT result in a person leaving Islam.
From your video you seem to be proposing the opposite. I trust you will provide a response to this.
    Thank you.

The takfier of Ibn Abdul Wahhab is very famous in his books. On very very very much pages in his books.
The Oummah has never been in shirk, but Ibn AbdulWahhab killed 10.000s of muslims in the name of his crazy way of defining takfier

Mohammad Hijab, see your followers? They are insulting both Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn Abdul Wahhab. You keep saying these scholars but never mention your scholars, you were exposed by Shamsi who brought evidence and mentioned scholars. But you on the other hand have gotten so arrogant that you dont need scholars. May Allah guide you ameen
