Family holidays in the 60's , Girvan every year for 2 weeks and dad always took us for a WEE stroll up the Byne hill, went to an army display one year and an olde English sheepdog(Pure White) picked up an red army smoke grenade and for ever after was a shocking pink Sheepdog , this video brings back many very happy memories of my childhood and I'm 65 now , thanks
Been to / passed through Girvan half a dozen times and I think it possibly has the best bone structure of any town in Scotland - the curving beach, the harbour, the hills, the cottages and villas - valleys and glens out the back, Ailsa Craig out the front. I think over time more people will rediscover its charm, especially with footage like this!!!
Used to love Girvan in the 60s and 70s. Down to the harbour to see all the fishing boats . Up to the gardens to see the minah bird , then into the newsagents at the cross to look at and maybe even buy an Airfix kit. Happy days . This video brought it all back. Thanks!
going down to girvan for a week this saturday with my wife a 3 dogs staying in a cottage in pinmore.when i was young i stayed in a caravan site in the town, walked up byne hill with my dad. when i see the comment minah bird, my god i remember it.
collihill Have a great time . I was in Girvan for a day in July . The front greens were all well kept , there were people on the beach . Victory Park at the back looked good . The town is not what it was , but no Scottish town is . It’s still a nice place to go . The gardens where the Minah bird was are still there , alas no Minah bird though!
Mark Stronge, you sir, are a legend. I use mobility scooter, and we are looking to move, somewhere I can poodle along to my hearts content, you have shown me, the long path next to the sea would be excellent. Thank you.
Fantastic footage. Great to see the town from such an angle. Next time can you make it further up the coast to woodlands Bynehill and surrounding. Would be great to see.
Dont forget also the addition of the Quayside...gym, pool, restaurant. We get a load of motorhomers here staying for overnights and more at the harbour too. Yes, I live here and love it.
@Craig Murphy you are correct I’m the problem the people of Girvan seem to think that suffering from health problems and disability is something to be ridiculed and a reason to mistreat people. I have only been in Girvan a little over 2 years and in my past I have lived in some pretty dodgy areas but never has it it been this bad
Enjoyed that , used to work on a wind farm project in barhill and drove into Girvan most nights to walk the beach, loved the area, Im from Wales

You are lying you either don’t live in Girvan or you do but hate it. It’s the worst place in the world (except North Korea maybe)
@@matta5160 why do you say that whats wrong with it
Excellent quality! Thanks for the astonishing views.
Yes, it's a lovely place, pity there is no commentary, I can remember do many lovely things from Girvan. The drone is droning on, and on.
Good show. see you are getting a tad braver down near the water :)
Aye. good old adrenaline rush..
When I was a kid there, the park was a trampolines grass and sand!
Putting green, boating lake, beach pavillion, tons of amusement arcades, proper beach, sand dunes......
Lovely little town with lovely friendly people.
Sarcasm I’m guessing or very outdated information ؟
