I am also a classical dancer.. For now just 6 years.. But I am telling you all.. She is amazing... She has done great work... Everything in Indian classical dance is pure grammar and maths... Every single second is important and one miss is nothing but wrong and betaal.. It comes after years of dedication.. Her sams are really good.. Thankyou for being a part of this form..
I see lot of harsh comments. She might not be the best kathak dancer. She is not Indian. How many bad Indian kathak dancers have you seen? many. well that's something really shameful. As I said she is not the best kathak dancer but she has gone beyond her comfort zone in search of something in the other end of the world. She has studied it seriously. This kind of perseverence only make cultural harmony possible. Lots of Indian music lovers in USA and Europe like to learn the art. Hats off!
@utsavmohanlakhera The quality of a aTabla player is that he can adjust to the person he is accompanying. I agree Zakir has dumbed it down to her level. This is why I love and respect him so much because he does not show off.
Toni is a huge talent and wonderful person. She has a beautiful voice and can sing pure khayal style, ;and probably makes better dal bhath then you desi armchair critics. Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Ustad Allah Rakah, Pandit Ravi Shankar all treated her like family.
Its really a surprise as Ustad Zakir Hussain is termed as the king of Rhythm, she may be his wife, but as a performer there's a huge difference, I really love the confidence in ehr which might be out of love that Ustadji in ehr, she is a really very tall filled lady to dance wiuth him, dancinga s Ustadji's wife and dancing with ustadji's accompaniment ahs a huge difference. There's nothing to say about Ustadji, its liek showing light to Sun. He is a holy devotee of rhythm throughout his life.
I am surprised at your surpise, give her a chance, she seems a foreigner learning dance like kathak from her guru sitara devi . i have seen Ustad ji accompanied few gayaks who could'nt even get along with their own voice's akaars !
I know both Zakir and Toni personally and people are being extremely harsh. Do most of you who criticize her not realize that she is over 60 years old and still dancing? I know that this is not that uncommon but personally I think it's amazing. I hope at that age I can keep on dancing, as she does. Obviously most of the work she did when she was in her 20's and 30's was not recorded so we don't have proof of what she was able to do then. If you don't like her style, that's your right, you don't have to but whether you think she knows her stuff or not she has studied this art form for 30+ years.
wife of a great master of Tabla, student of great kathak dancer, she is good in rhythm and Padant. ofcourse a rare vedio. but it would be more better if she had chosen the costume and other outfits apropiate for the performance.
i really like the dancer's care free approach to the dance but what really would enhance it in my opinion is an uplift of the spine thereby improving the posture and ofcourse the ever-true factor of constant riaz. the only thing i am unhappy about is the footage, covering the tabla player where it should have been the dancer. that's rather unfair. As for zakir ji's experties there is no doubt:every one is aware of it :-)
it depends on how important is pronuciation in an art form, in opera singing pronuciation is hardly ditinguishable -I'm Italian. Anyway foreign opera singers who have a better pronunc. sound better to me
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! That's the worst piece of Kathak I have seen in a long time. Also what's unique about Kathak is that the dancer often leads the accompanying tabla player, they play off each other. In this case, an absolute waste. The dance piece had no complexity, no grace.

Dance is poetry of parts of body, she is missing the rhymes.
@@akaghzi she isn't. That's her best part.
Wow, she's sorta out man.... The beauty factro of Khatak is out!!
Most people dont know tht is Zakir's wife....

Wonderful performance by husband wife artist pair.

It is amazing to see that being husband and wife their rhythm is in perfect sync!
She is very good.
Zakir-ji is always good.
Wonderful
There should be 93k likes too
She is Zakirs wife so one must respect her as much one must respect anybody's wife-however ART is art-she is NOT doing justice to Khatak

Yes. In fact they met in the home of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan.
Just amazing wah wah wah
She is Antoinette Minecola, wife of Ustad Zakir Hussain. Kathak is her life so please don't criticize her pronounication

@gandalfthegrey41 The one dancing.
she is zakir ji's wife
costume of danser is not giving visual delite that lifts performance of artist. it is just study not an concert
which one is zakir's wife ? on tabla or the one dancing ?
the dancer.
Unfortunately the dancer is not covered.
Both can be done and it would have been wonderful
lol!
is she really zakir's wife???
Yes really
dont matter who she is or whoose wife she is ,, shes to be judged as an artist,,, wonder what the response wud be if she performed in subcontinent.
nothing to do with her nationality but her arms were all over the place and her back was bent over.

She needs more practice and to strengthen her form.
She was taught by the legendary Sitara Devi. This is after 40 years. Please don't her like that.
Umm I don't know how to say this without being harsh but even tho she's zakirjis wife, she can't dance. I just thought it was really sloppy
I'm not a big musician at all but it's not seems good or sharp whit the rhythm .
you think being married to zakir hussain she'd have a better accent in saying the bol lol..but nice dancing
not true, I've seen great dancers who were not exactly slim, kathak and gracefulness go hand in hand!
I think she should stick to opera
Her clothes are not appropriate for KATAK DANCE !
no offense, but dis be sad.
Her clothes do not fit for KATAK dance !
