the big crab thing enraged and aethercharged during the fight but the devs forgot that most other behemoths will have a faint red glow when they enrage and some other cool effect when they aethercharge, in order to signal to the player that those are in effect. its so demoralizing to see that there was a hint of very cool ideas and it got swamped completely by this disaster
Almost 800hrs, I was there when flame escalation arrived, when we had Old Ramsgate. I always came back for some simple fun. I even took the time to make my own decent axe build. And now it's all gone. Wepons are all gone or diffrent, armor is all jumbled around, any and all progress is just undone. All that time getting the escalation wepons with their fun abilities just gone. I never uninstalled the game even after I found myself in the endless daily quest and reforge loop cause I knew that I could always do a round if escalations or just drop off a bunch of gifts in the lobby for newbies. But now I can't see myself coming back to this. Maybe it's finally time to try a Monster Hunter game, maybe they'll treat me better.
I put 1.6k hours into monster hunter world. Only like 70 hours into dauntless.. if you enjoyed the old dauntless you will definitely enjoy monster hunter.
This update makes sniffing powdered fiberglass sound more appealing. I can’t believe that they took away all my weapons and nerfed the few I get to keep to the ground. Everything I had before is gone or meaningless. I will never invest my time money and energy on a phoenix labs game again.

Reforge is bad, levelling is better, cells need to be back as they were. Weapon talents need to be tied along with weapon level, behemoths need to slow the fuck down or we need some mobility option. Old shit is mindless grind as there's nothing to improve, it all boils down to malkarion axe recycle abuse, new shit has less weapons bc of greed, but some of them are busted as long as you can reach talent cap.
I really want to hold out on this game. There’s a skeleton of a good game in here, but it’s surrounded by the meat and organs of a game wracked with greed and poor decisions.
the worst part is that the BASE game is still fun, because dauntless' combat loop is great, but now it's hindered by all of this garbage they've done, imagine if the new weapon ults were still customizable and had their own slot based on element of the weapon, so frost weapons could have the urska ult or any of the new ones, and you'd get to PICK which one you used like the old days. this update could have been done SO well, but they completely butchered the game and any chances it had at a comeback
when i read it in the notes i was hoping that was how they were gonna do weapons, changing what you had on the weapon sounded like it open up more possibilities and playstyles.

I'm a hammer main, with blades as my swap. When I switch between the two, I somehow permanently lose my hammer charges. So I can no longer prime my hits or interrupt. Overall, if they haven't reset long term players progress. It could've been a success. We did our part in the grind, now it was taken away.
I waited, and waited, and waited. Delay after delay, just waiting for this update. Believe me I tried to have a good view on this update but from the teleporting behemoths, the insanely low amount of weapon choices, cells being god awful, my 2 years of grinding is gone. And to top it off xp is the fucking most impossible thing to get when you run out of aetherite
Rebalances are absolutely in the works. For instance, the Hunger is a bit ass right now because it uses the old moveset but still only generates meter and valour on combo finishers, making it way worse at generating these things (after all, the old moveset was balanced around generating meter with each hit and therefore it has longer combos). Plus, its valour combos are kind of ass, since they're basically just combos from the old moveset. That's an issue that has been acknowledged and they're looking to give the weapon a bit more love.
My overall problem from this update is they basically stripped all my ability to make builds and such, weapons gone etc, made the game 10x harder to build but all the combat is the exact same outside having 2 weapons. But im an axe main theres 0 reason for me to switch weapons unless its another axe or chain blades for movement
I like the upgrading system in awakened, but dislike basically everything else. I prefer incremental levelling rather than just making it and then having a singular power surge. Everything else is bad, the perk system, the cells destroying on removal, the limited weapon variety, the removal of lanterns. Yea, about the only thing I like is incremental levelling of weapons and armour, but I miss reforging strangely enough, I prefer reforging and a global weapon level per weapon rather than individual weapon levels.
The cell system is worse. Less build variety, the issue before was lack of imagination for builds. Now it's even more 1 dimensional in terms of final product
It’s very disappointing for a “game saving update”. Honestly I figured the community simply wanted the seasonal hunt passes, new hunt passes too, new behemoths, pets, maybe more rewards for reforging…not taking all our stuff away and making the graphics worse
Dauntless -2.0 update. The update that they are either going to have to revert a lot of the new/reworked content or spend a lot of time and resources on improving it to being good. I feel like getting rid of the previous cell system reduces build variety and getting new weapons sounds like a boring chore now over previously just grinding the monsters to craft the armor and weapons.
They went with the mobile game gacha style monetization with this update. And removed years of work from players. Very VERY smart choice. Two thumbs up. sarcasm.

Been playing since the god hand glitch, this is probably the most uninterested I’ve been in the game ever. Even with the past few years I could just get in and brainlessly grind or try out random bullshit builds. But with all the things removed and the limitations all the things that’s made the game fun are either gone or paywalled

This update confuses me. It seems more like the devs just wanted to spend their time adding gimmicky weapon systems that they could easily monetise. The problems with the old build crafting system was mainly balance with lack of diversity. This whole overhaul feels clunky especially the weapon swapping which i have yet to even use. The main problem in the game for me was the repetitive gameplay loop and lack of build diversity. They really should bring back pursuits before they added all this shit, maybe even spice it up with weird terrain or special events. Behemoths working together with their AI would have been a better time investment. They just wanted to get people excited so theyd drop their wallets day 1 on all these boring ass new weapons.
Eh the +10 weapon to aether hearts conversion could have been executed better honestly (still salty about how much upgraded gear I lost), but compared to this bullshit ? I absolutely agree.
I was just reaching the endgame in dauntless of having all sorts of different builds to make and power surging the rest of my gear and now that’s all gone. I was there when Dauntless transitioned to Reforge. All Exp on weapons gone and ABSOLUTELY NO ONE was properly compensated with the materials to level up the weapons. I thought that update was bad and I just quitted the game over it. However, this update...Wow! Yeah, I was planning to check it out but hell no. I'm not going back.
I started playing dauntless a couple years ago, because i couldn't pay for MH. And while it wasn't MH, i still loved playing the game and trying to farm for stuff i liked. But now, Fellow Slayers, I believe it is time we leave this corporate greed behind, and give the well deserved love and support for the game series that started it all in the first place, Monster Hunter. I been playing on and off for years over 1k reforges collectively and over 2k hours played i even met my girlfriend on dauntless years ago it is absalutely heartbreaking what this update has done i put off playing for about 6 months because i heard there was a big update coming. Some of the things sounded cool but i didnt think they would just remove core mechanics that made this game what it was
My question is, where is trainer rosk getting legendary/exotic weapons, and enough of them to give to all new slayers, not an issue just doesn’t make sense to me.

i have about 4k hours on this game. maxed everything. suddenly an update came out and the dev just reset everything, all the hardwork that i've put. made it less enjoyable to play in a game that barely have content. the only thing that keeping me from dropping this game was the rank ladder. now that everything is gone. im done. phoenix lab thinks cockblocking their player and adding another paywall for progress is a great move.
I was never a fan of Dauntless original system. I like lantern effects but it felt goofy that such powerful effects (and there were very few of them) were tied to a lantern. The armor crafting since reforge is SO ass and the aethercharge bollocks was TERRIBLE. Everything was "original level" (with different stats) and one upgrade would be everything on the same level. That was so ass. I dislike cells, I always have, it's so complicated, the multiple levels felt unnecessary, most of us just used a handful of them and the other tens of them were useless. So I was open to the changes. I like the progression system with the weapons now. But the armors? What the fuck is going on with armors? Cells seem to be the same as before..? But destroyable when you swap..? Like what? That sounds so random. And also they have a "+1" level now like I'm so confused by armors and cells but that's me who's not willing to spend too much time to learn that. The monetization is ABSOLUTELY outrageous, honestly. The battlepass is so ass, you get nothing if you don't play that one new weapon (idgaf about repeaters), you don't cosmeticd and you don't get your plats back... Hunting grounds are still garbage, Gauntlet finally has a point and doesn't just give you titles (who the f cares about titles). Nothing done to core gameplay, new cosmetics look like shit, no new weapons, no new system, no visual upgrade except for the UI... This is SO sad, really. I remember the days when they implemented Terra escalation. That was fun, the battlepass was cool, I spent money into the game, the escalation was fun, etc. Reforge trash was there already but at least things were fun, to me. I'm appalled and really sad... I love Dauntless, I hate Monster Hunter for being so complicated, clunky, heavy, and draggy. We could have Wild Hearts but it's the worst shit of the decade too. Man...
This game just robbed all of my builds, took away my weapons, and nerfed me. They also added janky animations and basically took away the fun. However, I'm glad they at least attempted to revive the game, even tho they dis NOT cook

Remember how lanterns were supposed to be purely cosmetic? Yeah they still work. Open inventory, customise slayer, lantern, then select which one. It doesn't give any tool tip but for now they still function the same as they used to

Customization for new players is borderline nonexistent because only players who played before the update have all the cosmetics for the old weapons
The fact they removed everything and called it a massive update is cray, they removed more shit than they added and half of the shit they did add is garbage

What the hell were the devs even thinking. Dauntless was my stepping stone before I even got into Monster Hunter. It has some unique weapons and monsters, I'll give it that, but I havent played in close to two years, just from lack of updates. Then we get something like this? What a slap to the face. If I ever thought about coming back to Dauntless, I *Most Certainly* won't now.

This update confuses me. It seems more like the devs just wanted to spend their time adding gimmicky weapon systems that they could easily monetise. The problems with the old build crafting system was mainly balance with lack of diversity. This whole overhaul feels clunky especially the weapon swapping which i have yet to even use. The main problem in the game for me was the repetitive gameplay loop and lack of build diversity. They really should bring back pursuits before they added all this shit, maybe even spice it up with weird terrain or special events. Behemoths working together with their AI would have been a better time investment. They just wanted to get people excited so theyd drop their wallets day 1 on all these boring ass new weapons.

Eh the +10 weapon to aether hearts conversion could have been executed better honestly (still salty about how much upgraded gear I lost), but compared to this bullshit ? I absolutely agree.
@moumdoh they've been teasing the Bow weapon ever since late 2019 when Aether Strikers were released. Still nothing yet!

I was just reaching the endgame in dauntless of having all sorts of different builds to make and power surging the rest of my gear and now that’s all gone. How can they hard reset everyone even thier long term players and reward them with small amount of stupid new currency and all of your weapons turned into cosmetics.
They removed a ton of things... and it took a year to make things LESS available? What? They have to give us something to show for that much time. Insane.
Losing this game is lowkey more depressing than my actual depression.

I was there when Dauntless transitioned to Reforge. All Exp on weapons gone and ABSOLUTELY NO ONE was properly compensated with the materials to level up the weapons. I thought that update was bad and I just quitted the game over it. However, this update...Wow! Yeah, I was planning to check it out but hell no. I'm not going back.
I started playing dauntless a couple years ago, because i couldn't pay for MH. And while it wasn't MH, i still loved playing the game and trying to farm for stuff i liked. But now, Fellow Slayers, I believe it is time we leave this corporate greed behind, and give the well deserved love and support for the game series that started it all in the first place, Monster Hunter. Farewell, Slayers 😢.

I been playing on and off for years over 1k reforges collectively and over 2k hours played i even met my girlfriend on dauntless years ago it is absalutely heartbreaking what this update has done i put off playing for about 6 months because i heard there was a big update coming. Some of the things sounded cool but i didnt think they would just remove core mechanics that made this game what it was
the name is accurate. we infact did wake up to the fact that the devs don't care about us.

You can especially tell how much they nerfed atk speed and stamina with Pike heavy atk, Pike feels so shit to play now

Man, I played this game back in the early aplha and stopped after a little bit. It was a fun monster hunter sibstitute and hoped it would get more content after a while. Really, really disappointed to find it again in this state. Had a lot of promise
My honest to god opinion? I kinda like it, and i sank years into the game. Im of course mad about the progress loss and whatnot but i kinda like the new system. I can see it working a lot better with changes... Just wouldnt spend a goddamn dime on the hunt pass. Never would've, now i am less obligated to but still

250 hours of my life wasted,this is the biggest fall off i have ever seen in any game
i have about 4k hours on this game. maxed everything. suddenly an update came out and the dev just reset everything, all the hardwork that i've put. made it less enjoyable to play in a game that barely have content. the only thing that keeping me from dropping this game was the rank ladder. now that everything is gone. im done. phoenix lab thinks cockblocking their player and adding another paywall for progress is a great move.

I was never a fan of Dauntless original system. I like lantern effects but it felt goofy that such powerful effects (and there were very few of them) were tied to a lantern. The armor crafting since reforge is SO ass and the aethercharge bollocks was TERRIBLE. Everything was "original level" (with different stats) and one upgrade would be everything on the same level. That was so ass.
I dislike cells, I always have, it's so complicated, the multiple levels felt unnecessary, most of us just used a handful of them and the other tens of them were useless. So I was open to the changes. I like the progression system with the weapons now.
But the armors? What the fuck is going on with armors? Cells seem to be the same as before..? But destroyable when you swap..? Like what? That sounds so random. And also they have a "+1" level now like I'm so confused by armors and cells but that's me who's not willing to spend too much time to learn that.
The monetization is ABSOLUTELY outrageous, honestly. The battlepass is so ass, you get nothing if you don't play that one new weapon (idgaf about repeaters), you don't cosmeticd and you don't get your plats back...
Hunting grounds are still garbage, Gauntlet finally has a point and doesn't just give you titles (who the f cares about titles).
Nothing done to core gameplay, new cosmetics look like shit, no new weapons, no new system, no visual upgrade except for the UI...
This is SO sad, really. I remember the days when they implemented Terra escalation. That was fun, the battlepass was cool, I spent money into the game, the escalation was fun, etc. Reforge trash was there already but at least things were fun, to me.
I'm appalled and really sad... I love Dauntless, I hate Monster Hunter for being so complicated, clunky, heavy, and draggy. We could have Wild Hearts but it's the worst shit of the decade too. Man...

This game just robbed all of my builds, took away my weapons, and nerfed me. They also added janky animations and basically took away the fun. However, I'm glad they at least attempted to revive the game, even tho they dis NOT cook
I was really excited to see this update but after playing it really was a let down. Especially cause of some uniques i had ended up in the store and all my legendaries I grinded for are just cosmetics. And less customization of everything sucks too.
