For those that haven't handled any of the early Marvel Select figures, then you have to understand how much better Vision's articulation is over the earlier Marverl Select stuff though. He is an improvement. The issue I really have with almost all Marvel Selects is the single joined knees and elbows , but this Vision is still pretty good.
Exactly, he is actually on the same articulation of Star Wars Black series, that's a very good articulation, I won't mind some Legends with this scheme, since some of them don't need to be like Spidey or DareDevil.
I can't remember who mentioned it before and how reliable it is, but according to that person Diamond Select is contractually obliged to make their Marvel figures (Marvel select line) less articulated to avoid "competing" with Hasbro's marvel legends.
Hes got a bit of a big head for me but otherwise a good looking figure. The head beam accessory really is what sells it for me. But I don't really get normal sized characters in select anymore. I don't even mind the single joints. It's still weird that MS was moving toward double joints and then sudden 180.
Yeah! Its really strange, for a minute there a bunch of their figures had double joints. I wish they would go back to that. PS: Thanks for the support all these years. It shows me that you have been been subscribed for 6 years! That is crazy! Thank you!
When I started collecting in the late 2000's/early 2010's, I mainly collected Diamond Select, DC Collectibles, Neca and McFarlane, I pretty much didn't do anything Hasbro so for years I was used to great looking but restricted figures. Now whilst I have got much more into Hasbro lines, and a lot of those other companies have improved in terms of articulation, I still find that on the odd occasion when I get a really nice looking figure that doesn't move much, I don't really mind it. That said I don't really go for Marvel Select figures anymore, but I do appreciate that, at least to me, the paint quality and lack of reuse makes them feel more like higher end collectibles than Marvel Legends, without being massively different in price. They're the kind of thing I'd recommend to someone who wants a one and done Marvel collectible, who isn't looking to start a massive collection.
what I love and hate about marvel select is paint since I get ocd with the slightest paint imperfections, and you can easily turn it into a cloth mezco, if you know how to stitch the back.
Excellent job on this review Wade. I can see the issues with elbow and knee articulation but I really like this figure, great job with the sculpting details and paint. I think the reasoning for the Selects figures not having double joints could be a license issue that may conflict with Hasbro in some way. That Vision here is in the 7 inch scale which is the scale I prefer. IMO the best classic Vision yet!
Remember when Marvel Diamond Select focused on ART and STATUE SCULPT over articulation and competing against Marvel Legends and other "toy" lines...Pepperidge Farm remembers.
The articulation is fine. Marvel select used to have barely any articulation when they first come out and now they got some articulation. and also to marvel select his hulk figures an abomination in juggernaut are hands-down better than anything Hasbro has ever put together. With the Price increase Hasbro is doing. Marvel select are teller figures. And you do not have to buy seven at a time to get a build a figure put together. their Apocalypse & Red hulk they are coming out are really good looking.
I remember you saying the thing with smaller figures from Select is even from the package you kind of feel it's not quite the same as the bigger ones. His face does look great but I'd love to get bigger characters from these guys as other people are saying in the comments. Great review!
Although not the best articulation like you said I think it serves it purpose well. Hell a lot of figures I see now are over complicated by their articulation leaving them more frustrating then anything. I think what we have here is a good case of less is more..🔥
Great review! I think the figure is fire!!! We all know diamond select figures are not the most articulated. With that being said, everyone should know that they are limited to the amount of articulation that they are allowed to do with their figures. Even if they wanted to add more articulation to their figures, they simple cant because of their license. I will say this though, for the price point that marvel legends are sitting at these days, I feel I'm getting more bang for my buck with diamond select. Marvel select Red Hulk $29.99 vs Marvel legends Apocalypse $39.99 and their other figs going for $25.99 or higher!! Marvel legends price hike are still crazy to me...
I was totally waiting for your review of this fig to come out, definitely going to get this one up for my Avengers display bc the Legend in the vintage wave one is going really up in the second market in my country
I'm still deciding if getting this or not, honestly the scale is great and articulation doesn't look too bad.. but his proportions are weird, torso looks very long and his arms a little on the short side.
Good call on the articulation inadequacies! Nothing worse then getting deep into a stop motion and discovering the figure cant do what you want it to without breaking a limb lol
Recently but the figure and I’m very happy with this one on my marvel legends display…yeah the articulation it’s pretty bad but it works great for the usual vision posing 😉
Thanks for the review - this is a great product. The scale with Legends works and with those accessories should make anyone with the older Legends version envious. I love the OG colors, simple yellow and green with a red face. Articulation is enough to get it in any pose the character could be in with the exception of intangibility. First, Beta Ray Bill. Second, the Vision. And third should arrive later this week - the Red Hulk. Marvel Diamond Select is producing the quality for a price that increases their value over Legends these days. Any influencers Top 10 Marvel Action Figures of 2022 has to include these ones.
Yay!! I've been checking UU channel daily to see if the review is up yet since the live stream Wade played with Vision 😆 i feel like 'bad articulation' is a bit harsh bc the neck and diaphragm are pretty good! It reminds me of shf Avengers assemble Thor figure. I mean, its one MS fig that has better articulation than one shf fig haha. And the neck and diaphragm are better than rnv spiderman. So as far as the poses that don't require 45 degrees albow and knees go, i think this vision looks really cool in those poses!! Man i like this one so much and i had to defend alittle bit 🤣
You guys say that about every character lol. Realistically, I think Mafex should prioritize characters known for being drawn in crazy poses like Daredevil and Nightwing
Informative review sir! I would like to see 1.12 scale companies implement the removable gem/forhead laser effect. I think that would be ballin'. I can see a 3rd party release going beyond with those types of effects.
Great review. You mentioned he looks like a guy in a suit but that doesn't really sell the look of him being an android, I think they should've not sculpted the creases, they did the same way back with Silver Surfer too. My only criticism was that you didn't pose Vision next to any Select Avengers, the figures 95% of people are gonna have him on the shelf next to lol Considering he's not Spider-Man, or has to hold any rifles or bows, the articulation is serviceable, my only conflict is do I get this now or hold out for the inevitable white version? 😅 Selects 4 life 🤟🏾
7:47 _Daaaamn son!_ That's a money shot right there! He has no "little head" to shoot a beam out of, but he sure as hell compensates with his big one. It's been a little minute since I've bought a Marvel Select, but I'm like ridiculously impressed with this release. Doesn't even matter I'm not a huge Vision fan, it's this that tight of a figure.
I've been collecting Marvel figs since Spider-Man classics, and I've _never once_ owned a Vision. That's kinda crazy. As soon as I get some more expendable income that's not really expendable but fuck it, I think I'm gonna order me this one. I mean I had the Select Gambit displayed with my Legends for years, I'm sure this one will work out just fine.
You are right, that's also a Hasbro articulation but from Star Wars series or Indiana Jones, Select was very clever to twist the rules of Hasbro, and delivery an interesting result. Still I have my doubts about Apocalypse, but I don't know, the Hasbro version didn't do right for me, he is lacking of something.
@@LosMSR to me it feels like there’s something “Toy Biz” in those recent Select figures, like Silver Centurion, Titanium Man, Beta Ray Bill, this Vision etc. The sculpt is more organic, has more life and definition to it, the finish also has more paint than bare plastic, while Hasbro’s ML often time look way too plasticky and artificial, and almost for the same price recently.
@@UnparalleledUniverse hm, but what if his elbows and knees were still single jointed, but had more range, like some of Hasbro’s Star Wars figures, which have a single joint, jet still go far beyond 90 degrees?
Not a weak articulation, basically Star Wars Black series articulation, and Indiana Jones, some Marvel Legends should have this articulation, why you need a full articulated MJ or Gwen, too much waste of money.
Not anymore As of the age ultron arc: he underwent a protocol to submerge himself in the sun to advance and upgrade himself to further his chances of survival He can project energy from his hands and his body in an omnidirectional aoe burst effect among other powers
If all of Select's figures looked this good I'd have no problem dumping Legends for them, even with lesser articulation. Edit: This review and the side by side with Scarlet Witch has convinced me to replace my Legends Vision with this one.
Vision doesn't shoot energy FX from his hands so useless accessory imo.Everything else is on point. As a select figure, he doesn't scale well with the ML line, he's 6'3 not 7'3.
I don't mind much limited articulations. Most characters don't have to do crazy poses like Spider-Man so apart from those awful shoulders and elbows I think it looks cool. What I just can't take it is that sloppy painting not to mention those horrible teeth. What the heck just happened there? It's terrible!!
Select should focus on doing heavy hitters like Galactus, Giant-Man, Goliath, Sentinel they are great on big figures
I wanted a Blob from them.
Idk about galactus or Sentinel but Giant man and Blob could work
Blob would be really dope
Holy shit man, Select making a Galactus or Giant-Man 😳. What'd that be for them, like 7 and a half foot tall figures?
Maestro and Kingpin would be sick from marvel select
For those that haven't handled any of the early Marvel Select figures, then you have to understand how much better Vision's articulation is over the earlier Marverl Select stuff though. Marvel Select works great with Mcfarlane if you want to do DC Marvel crossover for a decent price.
I agree, one of the main reasons I shifted from Marvel Legends to Marvel Select. Plus Legends ridiculous pricing and increasing number of QC issues
Agree
Marvel Select needs to make more Spider-Man. I missed out on their previous ones lately.
I can't remember who mentioned it before and how reliable it is, but according to that person Diamond Select is contractually obliged to make their Marvel figures (Marvel select line) less articulated to avoid "competing" with Hasbro's marvel legends.
Yes this was mentioned before, fortunately Vision doesn't need Spider-Man level of articulation, so this figure wasn't affected too much.
Hes got a bit of a big head for me but otherwise a good looking figure. The head beam accessory really is what sells it for me. But I don't really get normal sized characters in select anymore. I mean, he's close in height to the Legends Thor, so it does work imo
Pretty cool fig. I loving all the creative ways they did the power effects. Thanks for the review!
Thanks for watching! I like the power effects too but I wish there was more!
The new intro is so fitting for you now since that is the unparalleled cap

Dude, the articulation was great, very expressive! I honestly don't agree with you, but it's ok, the point is we both enjoy it for what it is.

Consider me off the fence. I don't know why I doubted. Marvel Select figures are awesome most of the time.
Nothing wrong with being on the fence with any purchase. Its defiantly a good idea to gather some info before rushing to buy.
Remember when Marvel Diamond Select focused on ART and STATUE SCULPT over articulation and competing against Marvel Legends and other "toy" lines...Pepperidge Farm remembers.

The colors look great.
Why didn’t we get a comic scarlet witch wth

Totally agree!
Marvel select needs to make a habit of double jointed elbows and knees but overall the figure looks great
I think it has to do with licensing issues. Since Hasbro has the main contract for Marvel figures.
I always assume that’s the case too but they have don’t figures with double joints so who knows haha

4:10 vision looks like zoolander puckering his lips like that
I think the problem with vision is that they can’t find the right body for him,now this can describes him a lot
True!
The best Vision will be with Vulcan mold, pinless, taller and hope brighter, but if this with the same colors of Select I won't care either.
In this case the aesthetics of this figure make up for the slight shortcomings in articulation. Plus the pricepoint and availability are a huge plus.
I would like a classic Hela and a classic Thena with a good amount of accessories. I think diamond select could do that
Yoo new intro is clean!!
Should have given him the wide open hand from his first appearance cover

Rhino from amazing Spider-Man 2 would be hella dope. A classic Korg from planet hulk would be badass.
I wouldn’t say the articulation is that bad. It’s basically ML articulation with some single jointed elbows and knees, but it looks much much better.
I think missing those joints you mentioned is what puts it in the “bad” category for me.

single joints sucks A$$ u r right i really wanted that vision but im not paying even 1$ on something that could upset me while posing
