Chances are you're not the only person here with experience in handling breeding stallions. It's one thing to jiggle the chain a bit to get him to pose, but this handler goes beyond that & aggravates the horse. Giant WAS posing & minding his manners till this jerk began yanking him around. In the horse's mind, he was being corrected for behaving himself. If the handler had left him alone, perhaps Giant wouldn't have tried to grab the annoying, jiggling chain in his teeth.
Wow, he was like totally calm until that handler started jerking the leash. What the hell ? He's such a well-behaved stallion, stop doing that for no reason !
Absolutely--who wouldn't try to stop that aggravting chain from being yanked around their mouth repeatedly? I think the wrong one was being corrected. Giant was perfectely behaved. The same cannot be said for the "handler." He would not be permitted to treat any of my horses in that manner--especially when the horse was being a perfect gentleman.
The majority of comments here are coming from mostly hypocritical, ignorant people who have little or no experience with TB race horses or have ever handled a TB stallion. GC is gleefully, on his own accord, playfully holding the chain in his mouth because it is his joy to do that. Many race horses do that -- think of a dog holding his own leash while leading his walker. This is obviously a well behaved stallion, yet capable of dragging a man around if he wanted to. This handler is not phasing the horse by shanking him a bit, nor is he abusing the horse in any way. He is simply keeping his attention, reminding GC to stand. The horse does lean into him, begins pushing him, and will bite him -- better the chain than the man, and to see what he can get away with. This is not your average draft horse or show pony. He is GC.
This horse is amazing!!! He is being playful with the lead and the man handling is playing back! He isn't yanking on him. The thing that makes me laugh is that people walk behind him, calm or not horses can't see behind them that well.
I can't imagine what that fool would do if GC was misbehaving . I used to assist in the handling of a 17 hands Irish Draught stallion called Clover Hill and what a pity he's not around anymore because he would sort that idiot out in two minutes !!
??? Certainly many of Secretariat's descendants inherited his flashy white. But Giant's Causeway didn't get his white "from" A.P. Indy, because as I said, he is not descended from A.P. Indy. : ) Perhaps you meant he has Secretariat-like socks, like A.P. Indy has. (Though A.P. Indy has only one sock, that I can tell, plus the blaze.) Sorry if we're having a language problem here. : )
Gun runner his son he a nice looking horse it nice look at to bad he died so young he my boy age 22 hope gun runner life a long healthy life and is retirement in a place like old friends
I don't know this handler personally, but I seriously doubt Coolmore/Ashford would tolerate mishandling of this or any other stallion. Very few stallions are shown without some kind of equilizer... the extent of which depends upon the individual. Unless you have handled breeding TBs and had the misfortune to be lifted completely off the ground, nailed from front or behind or downright savaged, I suggest you save your remarks for the show barn where few horses still have their testicles.
Wen dieses Pferd weiter so behandelt wird, möchte ich ihm in ein paar Jahren nicht begegnen! Der Mann scheint gar nicht nachvollziehen zu können, wie schmerzhaft und unfair das für das Pferd ist!
he's just freakin GRAND. And nobody can take that away from him. He's absolutely grand.
he has the most beautiful coloring, look at that rich deep toned chestnut coat
He's one of my absolute favorite racehorses.

I’m just here for the comments from “backyard horse” people who think they know to handle a thoroughbred stallion than an experienced stud groom

+guessimalivinglegend It's called a lead and he was being playful
This horse is built well... and ornery to boot but makes incredible offspring. could be a sire for all disciplines. really well built stallion
R.I P. Giantscauseway you will never be forgotten. ..a horse that will fight and die for ya ...the steam train

Big tough guy yanking on his mouth when the horse is just standing there. Unreal.

Giant's Causeway doesn't have A.P. Indy in his pedigree. He is sired by the Secretariat grandson Storm Cat (who also had two white socks).

Clover Hill what a Sire he was
RIP to a horse that will live forever. You will be missed.

He is such a beautiful horse. But that handler needs to have a chain ground against his teeth for no reason. See how it feels. -.-
Isn’t there some secretariat and his background
AMEN!!!
looks just like his dad the great Galileo
His sire is storm cat
Wow...yank on a chain, bugger the teeth up and piss off ...a perfectly wrll behaved stallion who stood quietly! The handler needs a punch in the face
Abenteuerliche Zäumung!
Wonderful racehorse and stallion, a shame the prick leading him around hasn't a clue how to treat the great horse properly.
YES!!!
I have a paint stallion who doesn't get handled like that. My stallion is 17.2 hands tall I have a shank on him but not in his mouth
he havent a clue how to handle the giant
Gun runner his son he a nice looking horse it nice look at to bad he died so young he my boy age 22 hope gun runner life a long healthy life and is retirement in a place like old friends
Gun Runner is by Candy Ride. Giant’s Causeway is his damsire.
The handler is a bollox

I don't like that groom. Surly looking character and crummy acting towards this beautiful sweet horse. Not nice.
