All of these actors are great in their parts, and it is such a joy to watch them act,in this movie! Thank you,Mr.Stevenson, for sharing this movie! Nancy,Missouri.
"Bats good. They not hurt Herman!" Dwight Fry having a ball again. Fay was in all the good adventure films...and the camera loved her. Look for her in The Bowery, with George Raft and Victor McLaughlin, and Jackie Cooper here on youtube. Amazing film that only takes a few seconds to let you know what you're in for. Great production.
Edward T. Lowe, Jr was my Mom's uncle. He was a newspaper reporter in Nashville, TN for the Banner. He was offered a job to write 'scenarios' (screenplays) in 1912. Moved from Nashville to Chicago, where the movie business was originally located, then to Los Angeles. My Mom got to visit 'Uncle Ed' on the set of one of the films he wrote back in 1937. Got to meet a ton of movie actors. Among them were Lew Ayres and John Barrymore
There is a nice article in the Tennessean June 08, 1913, about your mom's and your uncle. It chronicles his start in Chicago and progress to Los Angeles.
@@gregorywellssr7857, thanks. Mom has a scrapbook of her Uncle's screenplays showing his career in films. I have a program from the Nashville premier of 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' in my collection. He was a very talented guy.
@@MrFletch821 Yes he was, you're welcome.Talented and SMART...a lot of the jokes in his work will fly right by you if you're not really listening.Very clever.
Atwill and George zucco need to be talked about more for their important contributions in the horror field. Carradine definitely because he has probably made more horror movies then any other actor.
Hi I must thank you for this masterpiece. You see when I was a kid and I mean eight nine years old I remember watching this. I grew up watching all these great very early horror movies. With my most all-time favorite favorite Dracula Bela Lugosi, Dracula 1931 (((( When he walked down that staircase ))) He was and still is Bela Lugosi the best Dracula. God Rest his soul No on the issue all of that particular movie : Now I could be wrong but I believe the name in the movie was The night of the vampire And look how young Mister Atwill is in this movie. ? He's playing the doctor. It's just great thank you ever so much.
leftcoaster67 .....yes she was ... celebrated as the girl to climb the empire state building with King Kong she died in NYC 2004 (97years old) living to see the destruction of the Twin Towers ... would love to have met her .....
The 1930s had lots of hotties besides fay like ann Dvorak, gloria stuart, Francis farmer, madge evens, Francis drake and Jacqueline wells among others.
Does anyone know the name of the first "von" person that was killed? It sounds simply like "von Els." He never appears in the film, just the name is mentioned a few times. Thank you!!
Another thing is this thumbnail makes it look like Fay Wray looks like she's the one who has the fangs . But I'm watching the movie on a very small screen
If you planned it all out correctly and all the actors really knew their lines a film maker could have shot this entire film in five days tops. Maybe some evenings. Any director taking more than seven days for this shoot would be a lazy bum. I say this because planning out shooting schedules to maximize money is key to actually finishing a film when funds are slim.
I found this disappointingly silly for he most part; the first 40 minutes are pure piffle. When we find out what the evil doctors' up to, it improves, but then gets silly again. Could've been so much better I think.
It's always good to watch these older movies.I wish we had more available.
Watch the house of terror boris karloff superb
86 years later, taking these flicks for granted on youtube. ...... not even a hundred years later.
Well thank you for posting it
Poor Hermann. Mob rule and persecution killed him. This film from 1933 was very prescient of events that took place in Europe.
An apple for a nice soft bat! What a trade!
Awesome gotta watch this!!
Fay Wray is one of my favourite actresses along with Barbara Steele she was a beautiful lady as well.

What a unique take on a vampire film!
I’ve always loved this film. A terrific cast gathered from the four corners of Hollywood. My favorite of course being Dwight Frye.
fay wray was beautiful, such a beauty with grace.
She was. And she played the PERFECT damsel-in-distress.
"Says it. Not proves it". Great line.
Dwight Frye fantastic in these type roles!
All of these actors are great in their parts, and it is such a joy to watch them act,in this movie! Thank you,Mr.Stevenson, for sharing this movie! Nancy,Missouri.
Are we related 🤔
Lionel Atwill was a terrific actor, always menacing, an excellent villain. Fay Wray was so talented. This is a very good film.
Loved the character of Aunt Gussie.
Lionel and that gorgeous speaking voice.
Yes, Dwight Frye!

I remember this when I was a kid.I love the music and low lighting.
Some pretty ambitious cinematography here. Very nice and moody. Thank you for sharing this!
Another great Fay Wray movie
Happy 120th Birthday to Mr. Dwight Illif Frye, (Herman Glieb), Feb.22 1899 - Nov. 7th 1943 ♥
Lionel Atwill reigns supreme!! The essence of evil if you watch as the plot unfurls.
And that marvelous speaking voice Lionel has. Of course my favorite actor ever, Melvyn Douglas is in this too.

Love Lugosi. Truly LOVE the man. And Atwill rules too. You know what's good!
That mad doctor really seemed MAD. He played his part well. He scared the crap out of Fay Wray.
He did seem angry.
I love Maude Eburne she is so good and funny 😆 one of the best character actors💕😂
dwight very underrated
Great classic movie, thanks.
I love frye!!
This is due for a Blu-ray release in April, 2017 from the Film Detective. It was restored from the original negative.
Good flick and hottie fay.
Poor Herman, i can see where this is going. :/
Dwight Frye is the 💣!!
Oh, so he's trying to create a homunculus! I was wondering what that weird, mossy looking thing was in the tank.
Herman do Herman do ---"""--- love Dwight fry
One the underrated actors of his time.
A bit silly, but nonetheless very good viewing. I enjoyed watching it. Thank you for posting.
Filmed on universal sets with rko and universal actors .brilliant.
With George E. Stone from Warner Bros. and Melvin Douglass from MGM.
Added attraction of Melvyn Douglas!
I'm voting for 'Dwight Frye 2024'.
I'm voting Trump.
You oughta make a pretty fair meal for a vampire. 😮
Dwight Frye is absolutely gorgeous..
That woman seriously thought he turned into a great dane?
I only watch this because of AUNT GUSSEY and the VAMPIRE BAT.
I wish, all of my aunt's were like AUNT GUSSEY.
+ Chris Stevenson thanks for the tip with the arrow keys, it really works!
Fay Wray was so hot.

@@stevelindstedt8858 Ann Doran played Carol, Jim Stark's mother.
You are correct......I was thinking of Fay Wray in "Dragstrip Riot"......and mis-quoted.

The music in the opening credits is the same in Bela Lugosi's, The Corpse Vanishes.
Melvyn Douglas was s very good actor, in comedy or mysteries. Very handsome man.
I did not expect this movie to end with a poop joke.
woo hoo, thank you!
So i see many of the cast from Dracula 1931
The same creepy opening music is in the movie "One Frightened Night" with Charley Grapewin and Mary Carlisle.
Totally 💘this creepy 🎥
Maude Eburne and her "cartoon" like voice!
Carti hiding in his tomb looking at this
17:03 i❤ Fay Wray she’s good in the 1933 King Kong and the vampire bat two
That woman keeps crying wolf, and no one will believe her when she's actually having an emergency.
Tnx

My favorite actor always. Yes Melvyn Douglas.

Omg is that lady Lizzie the maid in The Bat Whispers? Lol she‘s looking a lot richer here
What ever happened to Fay Wray? That delicate, satin draped frame?

That was Devil Bat 1940 I believe.
