OK, that clears up alot. Disregard my previous comments on the other video. I am a firm believer that power will find the weakest link . Thanks for the info.
I could tell by looking your primary chain is too tight when that happens you can't go into neutral at all. you have to reset your tensioner put it back together if it happens again swap it out best bet with what you're running I would definitely change out the clutch basket to a Billet one and put in a manual primary tensioner
Ahh knew it. First one to call it on the last video. You're going to love the Evolution Ind. clutch assembly! Now you'll want to get a Mueller Clutch ramp.
Hey Big Guy I am currently running the same Evolution set up that you are getting, great choice. The evolution is a race application and you can get upgraded springs but before you do that I suggest trying the feel of the springs that come with the kit. Reason being is that set up out the box will work the heck out of your clutch hand especially if your ever in moderate to heavy traffic. I personally added a Rekluse Hydraulic slave cylinder and that reduced pull pressure tremendously.
Wow thank God it didn't happen in Daytona get well soon Silverback thanks for the info John.
Wow that must of had some heat in there ..👍🏻🇦🇺
So what your saying John is after you dyno silverback again we can also look forward to some new dragy runs as well 👀 that video was Epic!!!
So sorry to hear about this issue. Unfortunately all I hear about is that big builds equal big problems. An old time mechanic told me that big horsepower is big expensive.
Damn John, those plates are definitely warped brother. Silverback is a beast and requires those heavy-duty Evolution components. You’ll be riding her again in no time. Good luck.
I can't believe you are able to get the compensator bolt out with an impact gun, I have the Dark Horse compensator I'm getting ready to install the Trask clutch basket. I run synthetic ATF it keeps the clutch from slipping. Thanks for the video.
The stator magnets are epoxied and the hammering of the impact will pop them off. The M18 is an excellent impact though. More torque than my pneumatic guns.
@@guysmiley8473 I use the impact on a lot of things the compensator and the clutch basket is not one of them.
Well Big John I'm glad that you found the warped clutch plates but where did all that shrapnel on the magnet come from? Another run on Dave's dyno might be interesting. Good Luck.
I worked for Harley as a mechanic and that amount of steel is about normal actually.
Nice shirt! Good luck getting the bike sorted
Another beautiful video!
Anther awesome video ride safe and enjoy
Now you'll have to do another silver back vs street bob comparison. LOL!!
Why did these plates warp? Aren’t they designed to handle all that heat and force? Bad design by Rekluse?
That's sir is a damn fine question 🤔. I was informed they were good up to 200hp via rekluse..
OMG YES, please film and post the process of installing that Evolution basket. I was thinking if getting one myself because I wanted to swap out the clutch basket and I had no desire to go and do all that basket swap with the rivets and junk. That whole piece, I assume just replaces everything except the clutch pack stuff for 900$ right?
I want it, but I couldnt find any videos of it.
Hey brother, sorry about all your troubles with Silverback. I can tell you though, we are learning a lot from you and your channel. Keep up the good work!!
What does the Manufacturer say about this issue? I’m curious 😂 I’m almost pulled the trigger on a full set up. I was thinking about the Barnett Scorpion set us as well.
You saved me from Recluse with these vids. Thanks and I too am getting evo Industries stuff
Awesome, you do you man. Love it
What caused the clutch plates to warp? Were they warped brand new? So you’re moving on from Rekluse to Evolution?
Buddy I’m just bustin your chops. There’s nothing I don’t love about your channel! Nobody wants to see you ride a stock bike or dump the clutch (thanks for the plug🤣🤣), your channel is high octane brother, the best channel period. AND I appreciate you kind of blazing the trail on do’s and don’t on parts. The brake rotor issue was worth its weight in gold. So glad to avoid that one. And I am anxious to see this Evolution set up. Already looked at it on here and what a piece of Art that appears to be! Different strength of springs to determine I think I saw. Upgrade your basket…. I appreciate you showing me what I NEED to do to bulletproof MY engine, so when I’m out throwing down big rides, endurance runs, my bike giving up is the least of my concerns. I do hate to see Silverback down for the count though man. I don’t eat, I don’t sleep, I kick things, I’m flat out miserable….. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🇺🇸💪👊
Great information as usual 👍👍
Great content 😎 I really learned a lot, thanks for sharing
Great video 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽💪🏽
Great video, glad you know what’s wrong. STAR RACING has a comp that is made out of billet and won’t shatter like the oem comp does.
Yeah I can see it but would it be better to see if you flipped it around on the other side , and are you still replacing the whole thing
They got hot. All the power 💪🏻
I was really hoping it would not be a problem with the Rekluse Clutch since I have the same clutch in mine, I had the same issues with the basket sleeves that you did. Did Dave have any idea how the steel plates got cupped? This doesn't make me very confident in my Rekluse Clutch. Not that my bike even comes close to the power you're making on Silverback.. I am stock 114 with a Red Shift 468 cam.
Same here but stock cam. But I also have a friend that has had the Rekluse Clutch for 3 or 4 years and loves it with no issues
Gonna have to replace inner and outter primary bearings as well. Metal frags will destroy the future
Looking forward to learning why the steel cupped. I believe Moonshine installs a ton of these.
Hey my name is Robert I have a 21 road glide special with a 114 I'm having a 131 crate motor put in stage 4 sceamin eagle I'm going to leave all the clutch and gear box do you think it will take the power for long or what let me know if you get a chance huh
Yep I can hear the pop
all the steels are warped because of the only 3 clutch springs which is uneven pressure on the clutch pack…
The new hub with the 6 springs will be stronger even pressure on the pack !
Are the new hub & basket Billet ?
good work!! Hope the new one comes in soon !! Peace brother!
@@CYCLEFANATIX sweet will be watching the install! Watching all you Laconia vids from last year all good stuff! Enjoy your day!!
Did Dave say why the steels cup like that?
I know the bike will be solid because it’s Dave’s bike but what’s the horsepower and torque on his roadking
Oh yea those steel plates are shottttt. That’s pretty crazy
Your primary chain looked like a banjo string get rid of that self ratcheting crap..... I've always had good luck with Barnett clutches.... good luck
Did you ever upgrade your transmission
You or going to spend more on repairs and modifications than the Motorcycle originally cost 💲💲I realize some people like doing that 💲💲 I have learned a lot about Motorcycle watching TH-cam ♥️ that I wood have never learned on my own 🕷4 someone who travels a lot leave HDs factory get extended warranty
If it breaks down give dealer $50 and it’s his problem now ♥️♥️ have another motorcycle for playing on ♥️ I wood like 2 have a new road glide ST It Will probably be a while before they have any in stock 🕷 I love the Indian Challenger the best ♥️♥️ Love from Mississippi USA 🇺🇸
Dang it man, hope you get her going soon.
Hey man im also living in nj and was wondering what u would think about a softail standard as a first bike i personally feel uncomfortable sitting on the sportster but no i wanna go with a harley.
@@peterpuller8569 well then im a small handed man or a big handed woman??? 🤔
So what made the disks cup the way they did??
I’m glad u know how to do this cause it looks like Chinese to me😂
Nothing is bullet proof. You ride hard, things will break faster. Hopefully you get back on the road soon.
Are you going with 46t or 49t
Oh boy it’s getting real now.
we're did all the shavings come from that was on the magnet?
The steels as the clutch or fiber plates ride against the steel plates they make what was shown in the video, it’s actually very normal looking.
John I had the wrong name for the clutch setup I have. It is from American Prime Mfg Inc. Made in the US.
Keeping riding hard ✌️⚡️🔥
I got a 114 with a stage 1 lol. Maybe 85 hp or so. I'm not worried about my clutch any time soon. I'm sorry your clutch went out again bro.
Hope silverback gets well soon!
Thats interesting. I just installed rekluse slave cylinder and it drags in gear a little when its cold. Just today they told me to check the clutch plates to see if the are still flat. I didnt have an issue with the stock clave cylinder though.
@@CYCLEFANATIX I definitely will now.
The stock chain tensioner is junk. Get a baker chain tensioner. I am surprised Dave didn't insist on it.
Time to get ride off my Recluse stocks lol
Hydraulic clutch leaver leak? Bleed off of hydraulic push cylinder right side of motor ? Wrote this before I saw the end never seen plates warp like that
Yep, too much power through that stock clutch.... You should feel a difference once you have the heavy duty parts, putting all that power to the rear wheel. The re-dyno should be interesting.
@@CYCLEFANATIX If its a clutch that's rated for Silverbacks power, then something else might be causing excess heat and warping those steels. Weak or worn springs, uneven pressure or bad bearings.
Welp I literally just had the exact same thing happen to my clutch rekluse torque drive I'm 150 hp 140tq and I absolutely use it and exact same thing. I'm giving it another try but I suspect a similar out come...
In the instructions rekluse says bluing of the disc's is hot and black is burnt..welp it looks like we both made that happen 🤣
Cup cakes for all…😉
Damm. Crazy.
Bowled out damn 🤦🏽♂️
👍👍
Never use an impact on the compensator bolt, you have very high risk of ruining your stator magnets. Also, please for the live of God stop calling the Man-O-War bushings teflon, they are NOT teflon, they are hard durometer rubber.
Gonna ditch that auto tensioner?
Ride it like you stole it let the parts fall where they may
I put Amsoil in my primary and neutral is easy to find now.
Your transmission will go next!
Clutch was not installed correctly it was slipping all the time.that Clutch got super hot
Your gonna have metal in the primary on a reg. basis. started gear takes a beatin...
Man that sucks ditch the rekluse clutch go with a bandit sportsman with trask hub.
Does anyone actually win these bike giveaways?
The BIG WINNER is the person who is getting $100,000.00 . That's if all 1,000 tickets are sold.
Just take your hammer and smack those clutch plates back flat. Follow me for more advice 🤣 on a serious note... That was clutch material on your magnet. Good time to upgrade 👍
T
Hint, hint…no impact tools on primary side. Not the problem here, but your playing with 🔥 for your stator 🧲s. 🦅 of a 🪶 🪨2-gether. 2020 Fat Boy. USN, Ret
Honestly I’m now confused 🫤. I thought the goal was to be able to crank some miles on the softail whilst keeping performance bagger mint for years to come. 😔
