  • Tuesday night's VP debate took place in the context of multiple overlapping crises: Iranian missiles raining down on Tel Aviv, intensifying the threat of a regional war; a catastrophic hurricane ripping through Appalachia; a massive explosion at a biolab in the Atlanta metro area; a rising tide of neo-fascist anti-immigrant sentiment fueled by the Trump campaign and rightwing media. The Real News staff and friends of the outlet recap last night's debate and discuss what it revealed about the political crisis Americans are facing.

US needs a declaration of independence from Israel .

Israel is actually a project of the USA to project its power abroad and destabilize any non-US allies to protect the petrodollar. The US pretends that it has no control over Israel as a plausible deniability scam.

Maximillian takes forever to make any point. He uses so many words to say so little. It was super disappointing when he shut down Ryan when he spoke about tariffs and such. Ryan's short talk was by far the best part of this podcast and had way more substance using far less time than any other segment. Maximillian spent more time telling him to shut up than Ryan took to make his good points.

Its good.to listen to media reporting drom outside ones bubble.
It is quite scary to witness how extreme and misguided it is.
The first women to speak was so racist and sexist surely some.of the rest of the viewers noticed this?

I don't get why people act like the presidential debate was so uncivil when that was almost all Trump. Sure Kamala did some somewhat obnoxious head movements at times but who wouldn't standing on a podium next to him.

Imagine voting for Kamala who has been in power over the last almost 4 yrs lol I guess you’re not suffering at all right now. Must be nice.

@@jenniferglenn14Please explain how a Vice President can do things concerning the economy. What did Pence, or other VPs do in the past to issue executive orders or sign bills into law? Granted they are and were Presidents of the House but not the country. As Truman said of Vice Presidency duties, “the vice president's job is to "go to weddings and funerals.” Granted they can be called upon by the President to draft legislation favored by the administration and "talk it up" in an effort to gain the support of members of Congress, by no means do they have the power to do much more.

I didn't hear any of that about the demonization of migrants. Is not important we are being made to fight for resources and these people are predominantly being forces in black and brown neighborhoods and as a black person I think you ignoring our plight is just as bad if not worse than what you said about two white men.

The right wing propaganda apparatus have successfully pitted you against others who are suffering in their divide and conquer strategy. This channel, which promotes helping both immigrants and black folk, is not as bad as the white supremacists just because they don't buy into the fearmongering about immigrants.

They don’t suffer the consequences of the policies they vote for so they stay ignorant. They obviously don’t worry about living paycheck to paycheck and ignorantly hyperfocus on race.

What kind of dolt trusts republicans better on the economy? After 40 years of free makert based solutions failing who would trust the party of big business and free markets?

Generally I love Taya's critical perspectives...but was for once, I was disappointed in her endorsement of Kamala Harris. One, Harris is not "Black / Afro American"...she is South Asian on both sides. She merely appropriated / co-opted Blackness (identity, history, social struggles, et al) for the sake of a political career. Second, she represents the Democratic Whyte Status Quo masquerading as "Black". There is nothing "radical" or "transformative" about Harris or her Neoliberalist social policies. Understand, that Harris is a Black Proxy deployed by the Democratic party to dupe and regulate the Black Vote into Compliance with DNC. I shutter to think of all the skullduggery this lady is committing in the name of "Blackness", Undermining a truly progressive Afro American political Agenda and merely Upholding Whyte Hegemony !

After they let Hedges go I could sense a tacit shift toward ambivalence or even support for team blue. This really confirmed it for me.
We're all entitled to our views, including the team at TRNN, but I used to think they were the real ones. They drifted, like so many others. At least this provides some clarity.
