The TAG Kyoto inks are a wonderful series. Some of the series can be bought (in the UK) from good stores like 'Choosing Keeping' in London. One of my favourites was sadly discontinued (or at least I have never found a new supply)- a deep red burgundy very close to the ink you reviewed, called 'Bengarairo', or 'colour of Bengal'. Fortunately, I bought a large stock so have a reserve... Their Adzukiiro colour is quite close to the Tamenuri, but more based on the bean of the same name. I agree that they are pricey- (£18 a bottle and even more in other shops) but they are definitely worth it!. I wish I had the lovely Urushi pen you used in the video but, sadly, these are well beyond my price range!

Interesting. I did not know anything about this ink brand. Thank you.

You are so welcome! They are lovely inks, they have a few natural dye inks too

I only use pinkish red ink for my diary or to highlight information in my sketchbook notes, the inks are Sailor Studio 431 or Iroshizuku Tsu tsuji because the colour brings optimism and joy. Certainly anything that would revive interest in lacquering would be more than welcome. Plastic looks cheap save on beautiful acrylic or cellulloid pens, urushi has depth and warmth like no other.

I enjoy this series of inks. They were my one exception to not buying new ink. I had lost interest in them when they turned to sparkling inks, but it's good to see them going back to their roots. This is an attractive one.

I’m not to keen on sparkles in my inks. Mainly because of maintenance. But tag do a lovely lineup in general! Do you have many tag inks?

tame means accumulation of fluid, condensation, dripping, or dropping. In tamenuri the lacquer pulls away from edges preferring to pool or accumulate. There are some similarities to how ink behaves but the tamenuri effect of lookin below the surface is not replicated with this ink. I like TAG Kyo no Oto inks a lot normally, and they are known for using natural dyes, but this burgundy leaves me a bit wanting regarding the color and the naming.

Yeah, as mentioned, to get the same pooling effect with the right brightness I think is a nightmare on impossible task. Still, I’m glad that it exists!

Yet again, I am shamed by the stunning penmanship of a pen owner…. I just don’t write that neatly. 😢

Oh, my writing isn’t that great, but I enjoy writing! Thank you for the kind words though
