Neil, I'm hoping you continue this seat endeavor. for over a year now I was thinking about cutting off the metal hard stop tab on the bottom of my BX 23s's seat and finding better tuned springs for my 210 lb self. It surely jars my back hard when that seat tab between the springs bottoms out on the metal frame.
I added a Grumman mechanical suspension seat to my BX2370. It didn’t increase seat height much maybe a couple inches at the most. It made a huge difference in ride comfort! I’m a huge fan of Neil’s videos so keep them coming! Thanks
Lots of good comments on possible alternatives. Judging by the number of commenters on this thread Neal with give you a taste that folks out there are looking for a low cost alternative - that doesn't include putting blocks on pedals or scalping your head on the ROPS. Please keep doing the primary research. You have access to vendors and possible solutions we prosumers don't. Thank-you. Best
I can respect someone that pokes fun at the not so good ideas. On other notes I passed by one night and I can say they have a good lot full of equipment, had to pick up a load out of Johnson and Johnson so I got to pass by twice and the second pass I got to fully take in just how much they have
Too funny, when I was shopping for a new sub compact I think the BX2680 had by far the best seat. I ultimately decided on the 1025r for a couple reasons unrelated but even after installing bolt on hooks upgrade seat springs there still isnt much give to the seat. If you can figure this out you may be in the running for the noble prize.
Reminds me of the old farmers that used to deflate a football and put it inside the seat spring on old Farmall tractors. Then they'd inflate the football to cushion whatever girth they needed to support.
For the price of a BX2680, they sure dropped the ball on a comfortable shock absorbing seat. Nothing like waking that sciatic nerve every time I cut grass. Thanks for sharing, I’m gonna try a gel cushion. 🤷🏼♂️👍🏻
I don't know where to begin..... Between the disturbing noise that was coming from your bottom side as you were inflating the seat and watching your feet, kicking up and down in the air...... I am speechless!😂😂😂!😂😂😂
I was just pondering this very topic the other day as I was getting my kidneys jarred loose driving across the rough field. Don't give up, there's got to be a solution lurking out there somewhere.
Good suggestions, but haven't put any fluid in the tires, and the terrain that I drive on is full of hard dead tumbleweeds. I literally have at least one flat tire after I'm done with every shredding job I do.😢
I’m happy with the “better”( so someone said) seat on my maybe 2026 BX33S but, ( no jokes here), I barely weigh enough to prevent the mower from stalling going downhill. Plenty of cushioning for me.:)
A grand L grammar seat would probably work just fine. I install them daily and as far as air ride seats go. They’re pretty low profile. And they don’t have a whole lot of height gain when filled. However, the issue would obviously be the fact that it’s a cloth seat instead of vinyl…
I'm not too familiar with the new lines of products but I remember an adjustable spring-loaded seat on the zero-turns that probably could fit & would be an upgrade for people weighing under 250lbs.
You need to try a low profile air or mechanical seat like they used in GMC topkicks. There out there but more expensive. Mechanical truck suspension seats are lower and fit better in low cabs.
I have a L2502 with the upgraded seat, but there still isn't enough travel, it either bottoms out or bottoms out and hits the top now thats a real back buster, need to find a seat that has more travel and is damped by a shock, no need for air ride
I wish I had an air ride seat on my 3560. Also speaking of squeaks, my steering wheel just started to do this when turning. That's certainly getting priority on the to fix list :D
I don't really care about air ride. But does a current BX seat fit on previous generations of BX's? (I have a 2005 BX23). My current seat is starting to split, and the arm rests would be kinda nice.
When new the tractor seat annoyed me. Now doesn't bother me at all. But I also rarely use high gear as it turned out to have "features" with bolts, seals, bearing, etc that cost me more time and money than saved with the speed.
What about a suspension seat? Not as a comfy as an air ride but a lot better than a standard seat that can be hard as rock when you are on it for a prolonged time period.
Please don’t give up, if we can put a man on the moon, by God we can improve the seat on a sun compact tractor. What about instead of air ride what about some sort hydraulic dampener?
Hey, I asked this before but, would Messicks be able to help me with an air ride seat in my MX5400DTC cab tractor? I recently submitted a question about this through the web site but, thought I'd ask here just to see if it's even a possibility or if I am just out of luck. I am 6'2" but I don't think your one-off BX is big enough to do what I would need it to do.....lol..... Thanks.
Neil, I have an LX2610 with a cab and I miss my tool box so much. I have searched my tractor high and low and cannot find a place to mount one. You seem to have a knack for solving these kinds of problems. Any ideas?
If you don't have rear remotes, you can add a toolbox mount to the right cab support above the 3 point, and I've added one to the front loader support similar to how the sawhauls mount.
I have a B2601 and can say the seat on these is absolute trash. These things have so much instability and rocking side to side action, that if you didn't have a back problem before getting one, you'll end up with one after. Why they don't put a decent seat on a piece of equipment like this is beyond us. Then if you do want to modify and put a decent seat on it, you still end up with the side to side flopping around - if you want to keep the forward tilt and forward/back adjustment slides. Now you can make a big or platform to solid mount the seat and match the bolt holes, but then you lose access under the seat unless you unborn and remove the seat. It may however perhaps be doable, as the trans fluid fill is still accessible from the back. I am currently looking to do this, but i may stay with the flimsy, rickety, factory slide mount on which to mount the new seat. The seat I'm looking most at is the Trac Seats Pro Ride Suspension seat. This is the same seat found on many of the upper model ZTR's.
I weigh about 103. The air seat add on has made me into a jack in the box. It rocks back and forth way too much. It is painful and bottoms out. The original seat is much better if you just plant your feet on the sides and post as you would on a horse when you hit a bump. IMHO the air seat is more dangerous to your back. This from experience.
E for effort. You have to size the parts to the job you're doing. I made a simple base, that connects to the existing front pivot holes, bolted on a mechanical suspension seat, complete with seat belt and adjustable arm rests, and greatly improved the ride on my BX2670. All for under $700.
Why doesn’t Kubota put a good air ride seat on a bx like they do on the big zero turn mower. I’m going to put a air ride seat from a bad boy mower on my bx because Kubota wants $ 2000 for the complete air ride seat
@@blessedandhappy3921 , it has that metal bar that you can turn to add or remove tension from the spring. I just can’t seem to ever notice a difference no matter where I have it, either fully tensioned or completely loose, to every combo in between and I still haven’t seen a noticeable difference
I'm 6'6 so this might be a good fit for me! But I doubt it fit on my BX2200 lol! But hey! Least you tired and attempted. Try try again lol! You should have put that seat on tractor tim with Tim's excavator lol.
It's ashamed the newer tractors don't hold up like the old ones. I also don't agree with how Kubota deals with engines, the only way to get an engine is to drill multiple holes in the block ruining it. Because they really don't want anyone remanning the engines which is infuriating, as a diesel shop owner it kills any money that could have been saved doing work for customers and family. The prices are also ridiculous, everything usually has to be ordered especially for seals, way better off getting part numbers and doing a price comparison. I used to love Kubota but if you split enough of them apart and do your own mechanic work you'll know exactly what I mean :/
In the great words of Joe Biden, Come on man! Ill give you 2 options of air ride that will work. ZTR Puffer, is currently out of stock so not sure what is going on with the company. The other option is Grammer has air ride skid steer seats that are low profile. Looks like about $1200 for that option.
Bless you Neil for trying! That's probably my biggest gripe on my B3200. My next tractor will have air ride!

I put a Grammar MSC65 series air ride seat assembly on mine.. Cost me a grand, but it's well worth it.. Very comfortable..
I don't know where to begin.....
Between the disturbing noise that was coming from your bottom side as you were inflating the seat and watching your feet, kicking up and down in the air...... I am speechless!😂😂😂!😂😂😂
The ZD 1011 mowers offer a good seat. It's not an air ride, but it's adjustable and is a vast improvement over the stock BX2380 seat. Try that.
I was just pondering this very topic the other day as I was getting my kidneys jarred loose driving across the rough field. Don't give up, there's got to be a solution lurking out there somewhere.
Lower air pressure in tires, and don't fill your tires?
Good suggestions, but haven't put any fluid in the tires, and the terrain that I drive on is full of hard dead tumbleweeds. I literally have at least one flat tire after I'm done with every shredding job I do.😢
Figure it out amd I'll buy one - only complaint on my BX!
I’m happy with the “better”( so someone said) seat on my maybe 2026 BX33S but, ( no jokes here), I barely weigh enough to prevent the mower from stalling going downhill. Plenty of cushioning for me.:)
Please keep trying since that's probably the biggest thing I'd like to change on my BX also
Hope you'll stick with this. I'd love to find something for my B2601.
I have a B2601 with the backhoe. The seat wasn’t bad until I added the hoe and the dealer had to change it to swivel around. Now it’s AWFUL.
A grand L grammar seat would probably work just fine. I install them daily and as far as air ride seats go. They’re pretty low profile. And they don’t have a whole lot of height gain when filled.

Neil, I have a Toro zero turn "My Ride" that has a wonderful seat might want to look at that. It incorporates a shock beautiful ride.
Wow, it's like Home Improvement and Top Gear had a kid...
Love both..
I put a spring ride seat on my B 2710 hst is only about two inches taller love it !
check out the seat on a bx231,the uk version of the bx2380,has a lot of other neat features as well
I'm not too familiar with the new lines of products but I remember an adjustable spring-loaded seat on the zero-turns that probably could fit & would be an upgrade for people weighing under 250lbs.
Added one to my Kubota zero turn, absolute back saver.

Hey, you're on the right track, good on you for trying .
The 'squeak' coming from the seat-release-hooks is definitely something Kubota needs to do research into removing. The noise is in many YT videos.
You tried and and that's what counts, just imagine if u where successful..thanks for videos Neil and Co.

That's not an air-ride seat, that's an ejection seat. I know Tim is laughing his backside off...................
Use an air ride seat base for a cab over truck, they are low profile with pretty decent range of motion.
Would a good suspension seat, similar to the ones on the LX2610, be a good compromise for BX owners?
could be. In my mind if I was going to improve it, I want to really improve it.
Word on the street is that Kubota has a new version of the B 2601. Any information on that?
not for 2024 anyway
Can air ride seats swivel 180 degrees? Would be nice to have but could limit using the backhoe if it doesn’t rotate
Bobcat has a low profile air ride seats in there skidsteers wonder if u can’t use that fir this
Another thing! Did you raise the roll bar to see if you'd remove your scalp bouncing in the seat? Looks close!!!
Maybe try the Air ride seat from the New ZD zero turn...
The LX tractors NEED an air ride seat option
They sell them as a premium tractor
Neil… I laughed but appreciate the attempt! 😂
When new the tractor seat annoyed me.
Now doesn't bother me at all. But I also rarely use high gear as it turned out to have "features" with bolts, seals, bearing, etc that cost me more time and money than saved with the speed.
A great idea, and an inventive mind! The solution is on the way. Your videos are excellent! 😀
Keep trying my back is killing me...maybe additional springs ?
What about exmarks air ride seat? They sit much lower than that.
Step 1: Sell Shaq a tractor. Step 2: sell him the seat that is custom made for his weight and height. :)
What about a suspension seat? Not as a comfy as an air ride but a lot better than a standard seat that can be hard as rock when you are on it for a prolonged time period.

@@MessicksEquip The price problem doesn't surprise me. Price is why this octogenarian with a bad back hasn't put it on our ZD1211. It's almost $2,000.

drilling holes in the block is mandated by EPA. Every company does that. Its so prior tier engines do not grow in circulation.
