Nice video, but I don't think the TX-500 is making any power. Look at 2:59 when you go key down. The power graph on the TX500 isn't moving, so no output. What you are seeing is carrier leakage at -56dBm. Put the TX-500 in RTTY and then hit the mic PTT or put a straight key on the rig and go key down. if the Radio is making 10W CW, then the math is +40dBm (10W output power) Minus the attenuator -40dB = 0dBm is what you should see on the TinySA or the Siglent for the fundamental tone. Great video concept, you just need the radio to make some power for the test. de KB7ZUT

That was a good find and it wonder is the filter is less at the frequency you were seeing. The other issue is how close the spur is to the fundamental. This is really interesting, Thank you for the video.

Did you set any attenuation on the TinySA? Eg manual -20db ?
Fyi I have a tinySA and bought the same 10w 40db attenuator after watching your previous test video. I want to test my g90 (@10w or less) and my UV-5R but don't want to damage the TinySA

That level looks wrong... If its 10w (+40 dBm) and a 40 dB attenuator, then the fundamental should be around 0 dBm on the TinySA. It looked to be -50 dBm.. faulty cable, attenuator? Or is it just me?

    • @ra3apw

@@TheSmokinApe I don't use Siglent for any RF measurements (only as digital oscilloscope and logic analyzer). It reminds me of a case that happened many years ago when I bought a new spectrum analyzer of the similar level from USA with a phase noise measurement function for my home lab and for a long time could not understand why my UHF synthesizers were not getting better ... :-)
Well, I checked your measurements with another source and they are roughly the same. However, the measured parameters correspond to TX500 specifications.
Keep in mind that this is a portable 10W QRP transceiver and connecting a 10kW PA would not be a good idea.
