This is unbelievably cool. The advanced automation is unreal. Kinda helps explain why things cost so much, I guess. Just look at that line! I'm new here. LOL
Lots of looking, lots of pushing of buttons and not a lot of work being done. That’s not to say that there aren’t people doing a lot of work but they’re certainly not in this video. The reason you see so many robots is because it’s more accurate, it doesn’t complain, it doesn’t go on vacation, it doesn’t need a retirement benefits and it just keeps on working without causing trouble. The first robots I ever saw were at the Volkswagen assembly plant New Stanton Pennsylvania. The sound that everything was on break went off and everyone went away from the assembly line for the time off but where I was standing there was a robot welding floor pans and there were six of them still queued up and it welded all of them and then went to idle while everyone else was on break. I knew then what the future was going to be.
End of line inspection looks exactly as I remember it from Mercedes days, almost 20 years ago. But this can't really be SHAP. I didn't see a single foreman or manager running around making a complete ass out of himself.
No probably not. Robotics assembly has been going on for over 30 years now and is a mature technology. If they could replace a worker in a practical way at a reasonable price, it's already been done. Robots are like AI. Dumber than a box of rocks and can only do what thet are told as long as it is realitively simple.
@@wyo_garage20 I didn't see anything that wasn't being done at Warren Truck back in the '90s. In fact. the one scene where they are putting on the tires? My guess is they've been using it after all this time, and during the upgrade on this plant from cars to trucks.
I have a 2016 Chrysler 200C AWD, I remember seeing on sticker price it was built at Sterling Heights assembly plant. Thank you for great quality at assembly plant by great U.A.W. Members. I really like 3.6 liter engine and 9 speed transmission been awsome car.
Should have seen the REAL 200 as it was designed. It was a knock out. But Benz thought it would eat into C Line sales, So they made them redesign it to make it uglier. I was working at SHAP at the time. Huge morale killer.

Automation makes things less expensive to build over time with less rework. Read a book...touch grass.
Were with ya Tim build those Hemis
Thanks for sharing - love seeing manufacturing highlighted

My truck being built !! Thank you to all those hard working folks !!
Built with an unreliable untested straight 6 and a ton of problems. Wish ya luck buddy. 🎉
@@tingokumanif it’s untested how do you know it’s unreliable?
@@iuyozx Read about it on the Internet, everyone's an Expert today.
Looks more like hard working machines and robots with a few workers.
Sorry but $100k plus is way too much.
Sold my house to buy one. But now i have to live in it. Why are they over priced?
Ill be more impressed when I see the Ramcharger in production!.. How much longer do I have to wait?!
Seems to me that some of these installation methods will be robotic tomorrow

Keep up the hard work,
Bring the v8 back
You can still get it in the 2500 series and up. 6.4L Hemi
Stellantis is all about EV's😊
wowwwwwww thanksssss so much for the video
Cannot afford over price
Nice trucks, but where are the HEMIs? Oh right...
Hopefully Tim will fix that.
I am betting that one of those robots has more skill than all of the union labor combined at that facility. Sad.
Why does it looks like an old outdated process?
Primarily robot/automated is outdated? That means you were dead when you popped out. Oh right….another thing that isn’t true
😂😂😂

Must have been taken months ago because they are not making anything right now.
Why does everyone in the video look mad?
They don’t. They’re getting paid
that assembly line was pathetic,,, and then they strip all the lug nuts, hard to watch.
There's always been a lot of animousity between the union and management there. It can be a pretty miserable atmosphere to work under.
All those overpriced no Hemi trucks that no one wants or can afford. Sad 😔
Pretty clear why quality is so bad these days
I missed the work at Ford Motor Company
Son, there’s my replacement for the great paying union job, hi Robbie!
The robots won't be hanging out in the nearby park drinking beer on lunch break either.
Lets see it in 3 years when the fenders and rocker panels are rusted out!
It's so funny that they keep on producing trucks that they can't sell.
I always wanted a RAM until I saw the assembly line, worst crew ever,,, I watcher her strip all those lug nuts in shock.
Not one person in that building ever works hard enough to break a sweat while making all that money. I'm jealous.
Ur crazy it gets crazy hot there
Work a shift on the chassis line and you’ll delete this comment
Sorry it harder than it looks
Yea bruh you have no idea
@@TamarToombs Show me where in this video people are working hard and sweating. Like I said, I'm jealous it is so easy and pays good.

Don’t be mad 😡 because you can’t afford one 😂
Yes Tim may have the fix as rumor has it🙏. Plant is already 7 years old already!
Actually that plant is about 70 years old now. It started out making missiles for TRW during the Cold War. It's only been making trucks for 7 years.
