I wanted to drop a quick line and say "Thanks". Your tip about using a paperclip on the external power jack works. I have a Lynx Model 1 I am trying to fix. It arrived DOA with no signs of life. After testing primary power components on the board, using batteries and checking anything else I could think of the Lynx refused to turn on until I did this trick. I have ordered a couple power jacks to replace the one on the Lynx 1. I used a really small screwdriver bit as I didn't have a paperclip lying around.

That screen still looks good after so much time.
Nice video! I just watch ( borderline OCD) try a repair on this. He didn't have success but hopefully a revisit!
