    Thanks for this video and the FCR series. I really appreciate how you show the mapping AND then where those buttons reside physically in the Apache. Helps my brain work a little better. Your approach to show & tell is excellent. Thanks for taking the time to record and produce this content for the community.

    Excellent video. Did not know I could slave the FCR to the Pilot or CPG helmet. Great detail to know. It will change the way I use the FCR. Thanks for doing this video. Please do more.

    Great video, simple and to the point. I love the way you present the information!
    Thanks for taking the time to present this to us. I also have the grip and collective on order from Virpil, should ship in February. Can't wait!

    Man, these videos from you and Casmo are quite sobering ngl. As a kid, playing games like Jane's Longbow and other games that feature Apache Longbow in general, they always portray the FCR and Longbow Hellfire as magical and infallible and of course as a kid I always believed it. Then I learned of ground clutter and how it can affect radar. I also saw some videos with both you and Casmo and you guys mention that the missile itself may not always go for the target that you are aiming for. Now multiple missiles striking the same target. No joke it got me off of that romanced view of the system and grounded me into reality (or at least as best simulated reality). Good stuff always yo. Looking forward to more vids.

      Trust me, the romantic notion of “fire and forget” was crushed for us in real life as well once we started using these in 2003. 😂

    I moved to the Alpha Prime left because the UH60 grip was too limited. I also like to be agnostic with controls as I am not trying to build a 1-1 sim pit. I have ordered the collective counter weight as even with the prime i have to crank the tension to a point that it does not move as smoothly(lightly) as a counterweight will allow. Make sure you got the counter weight for that ah64 grip.

    How do you check if the targets it is displaying has not already been killed by someone else? I mean the FCR can still pick up the metal from the wrecks that are still there but are no longer valid targets.

    • @schoolio64D
      @schoolio64D  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can’t. To avoid that when fighting with a team of Apaches, you set up priority fire zones and no fire zones. That tells the FCR to scan for targets in your zone and not your teammates zone. Check out Wags’ video on those. Maybe I’ll do up a video sometime about them as well.

      @@schoolio64D Thanks for the reply. I found a way by jumping into the front seat. From there I can select the FCR targets and then slave the TADS to visualise them. Via the TADS I can zoom in and verify. I assume that's what a CPG would normally do.

    Wow, did they improve the position hold functionality? I know I'm supposed to be impressed with the FCR, but that rock solid hover was stealing the show for me. Lol Seems a lot better than when I was last in the Apache module.

      @schoolio64D  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You can use it to detect targets and then use any weapon system to engage, but only the 114L will be fire and forget. You’ll still need to lase targets for 114K missiles, whether that’s self-lase or buddy lase.

    Is there a way to simply cycle through the icons on the FCR and quickly change the firing order? Something like next target and previous target.

    • @schoolio64D
      @schoolio64D  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      L1 Button will cycle through your next to shoot (NTS) options. Your cursor should automatically reposition there when you are using the FCR, so all you should need to do is push the cursor enter to cycle to your next icon.

    Is there a way to slave the TADS to the NTS target from the backseat? The lack of IFF makes it very scary to blindly fire in some senarios, and a TADS ID would certainly help

      As has been pointed out, it’s an upcoming feature.
      However, the FCR target is marked out on the TSD, so it’s really quite easy to use that information to move the TADS manually onto target (the Link feature will perform this automatically once modelled).

    @schoolio64d is that normal for the FCR to designate an already destroyed target or a DCS bug?

    • @bulletstop100
      @bulletstop100 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    • @martwint6
      @martwint6 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The FCR only see a junk of metal, why should it know if it's alive or dead? So yeah it's realistic and not a bug. The X symbol only indicates, that a missile was shot at that target, that's it.

    • @schoolio64D
      @schoolio64D  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes, completely normal. However, I’m not sure that there isn’t logic in the system to where it is supposed to know where you’ve already shot. I need to dig into some of my old manuals and see if there is or if I’m just imagining things.

      @@schoolio64Dbit of a random question, but since I’m looking at the Virpil counter-balance for their collectives: what’s your experience of collectives in the Apache (or helicopters in general I guess)?
      Do they move stiffly, as the Virpil collective becomes when the clutch dampener is tuned up, or do they move more smoothly?

    • @schoolio64D
      @schoolio64D  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Most(all?) helicopters have a collective friction that allows you to make it stiff [TWSS]. Completely loosened, they generally are as smooth as butter, but don’t hold their position when released. Some people like it really stiff, some don’t [TWSS]. Personally I preferred mine just tight enough to maintain position when released. You don’t want it so loose that it falls down if you hit some bumps.
