I love that you mention Tonks and Lupin at the end! I’ve always been so attached to their relationship for a number of reasons and that scene made me hella emotional last time I read it 😭😭😭 (also hella bitter it wasn’t in the movie but that’s another subject entirely)
Half Blood Prince is a very close second to Deathly Hallows. I actually ship Harry and Ginny together and I agree it's a healthy relationship. The way we learn about the Horcruxes and also I really enjoyed the memories as well. I ship Ron and Hermoine as well but I wish they were more healthy about it. OMG LAVENDER ANNOYED ME TO NO END. Ugh. Just the ending and all the twists at the end. It broke my heart. You're making me want to read it again but I already have so many books to read
Oh my god Emma thank you for putting all of my thoughts on Dumbledore into words!! Dumbledore was remarkably intelligent, callous, manipulative, gentle and honestly, I still don't know how to feel about him a decade later and I'm pretty okay with that.
I think that really proves that he is one of the best characters in the series. He's very complex and very human. Some writers can only dream of writing characters half as good.
So glad Half Blood Prince is your new favourite- it's mine too! DH is close second for me. One of my favourite Hinny scenes is when they're in the common room and Ginny says she told some girls Harry has a tattoo of an Hungarian Horntail on his chest and Ron has a pygmy puff. I laugh every time! Oh my god I need that alternate ending where Draco goes with Harry, Ron and Hermione to find the horcuxes!! If someone writes a fanfiction I don't care how long it is I will read it!!
@@claryy8 you girls have gone mad with boys and love :D Don't focus on love relationships, boys and emotinal stuff. The story is also intriguing. Focus on it. But not on how handsome Tom Riddle is, how Ron looks proper for Hermione etc.
I was watching this on the subway and it was so hard trying not to cry!!! I get so ridiculously emotional when I hear people talk about their favorite Harry Potter parts!! And also because i agree so much with you!! This is an EXCELLENT video. thanks for sharing this with us 💙
I'm so happy for Harry and Ginny. I mean, he's Ron's best friend, saved her, saved her father, and had already been welcomed into the family. If any guy ended up with Ginny, it'd be him. It's so sweet! However I kinda wish there was a slow build up from the past 5 books 'cause it seemed pretty one-sided. I do ship Hermione and Ron though, because they're complete opposites and were always arguing. Opposites attract.
I'm doing a wild thing a re-reading the Deathly Hallows without having re-read the rest of the series, so your reviews have come in so handy! You tend to pick up on scenes and details which my puny mind forgets. That McGonagall quote at the end broke me the first time I read HBP. Great review as always Emma, thanks so much! :)
I feel exactly the same about HBP! I think it is because it is a nice reprieve between the very dark and political OotP and the wartime, siege feeling of DH. Slughorn, the luck potion, the trio's closeness and the budding romances give it the similar whimsical elements of the earlier books, whilst still obviously being dark and featuring major turning points. Plus all the Voldemort/Gaunt backstory is amazing. The movie didn't do it justice at all.
I love your harry potter reviews, especially since you mention things that people seem to forget about, like Dobby and Kreacher fighting, Tonks and lupins relationship, how great the romance is, and just so many more little things that make this series so wonderfull. and I'm excited to hear your thoughts on Deathly Hallows :D
Can we also acknowledge the moment when Harry tries to convince Snape that his nickname is Roonil Wazlib?? Absolutely hilarious, by far the funniest sass Harry has ever given!
There is a fanfic where Draco goes horcrux hunting with the golden trio called Temptation on the Waterfront on AO3 (it is a draco/harry story but it's pretty close to what you describe for horcrux hunting)
THIS REVIEW WAS EVERYTHING!!! I love every point you touch on and your thoughts!!! I felt the same way! This book is so damn good! I can't wait to reread the series again! I just love it so much. Thank you for reviewing them all! I'm onto Deathly Hallows now, this is only my 2nd reread.
Half Blood Prince is my fave Harry Potter book I love Draco I also started reading Harry Potter books cause of my brother he'd literally stuck to the books
The Half Blood Prince is my favourite too. But I also love the Deathly Hallows because it ties everything together. I have a feeling that in your Deathly Hallows review you may say that it’s your favourite again! Haha
I read the Harry Potter series for the 1st time in 2016 so the memories of the books are still pretty vivid in my mind, but I have to agree with you that The Half-Blood Prince is absolutely phenomenal, it's the 1st book in the series where I sobbed in, and I just found it extremely interesting. I mean we learn a lot about Voldemort's past and his ancestors and I just loved Harry's and Dumbledore's bond in the Half-Blood Prince. Although I have to say, The Goblet of Fire remains my favorite book in he series but the Half-Blood Prince is a close second, or a tie even!
Draco is such an interesting and complex character. One of the reasons I loved Half-blood prince is because we got to see his vulnerability, the struggle between a sense of family duty and morality. I can never excuse his actions, but I’ll never forget that in regards to becoming a death eater, he basically had no choice. And I’ll always appreciate the complexity of his character. Great review as always Emma!
I still remember so vividly how I felt the first time that I finished Half Blood Prince. I felt so many emotions at the same time and it almost physically hurt to know that I had to wait an entire year to get all the answers. I sort of didn't know how to function for the next couple of days after that.
20:42 I remember that video! I wasn’t a fan of the series back then so it was funny as hell to me. I began reading in the fall of 2018 with this spoiler in the back of my head, never knowing the circumstances or significance. You’re right, it didn’t make it any easier. I knew it was coming, I just didn’t know why. Cannot wait to finish book 7 now. I’ll be back for your reaction.
nah, i never found snape being the half blood prince being that big of a twist. i wasn’t that suprised. i figured if the halfblood prince was a character theyve already introduced to the story, it would be someone older than harry, a halfblood, male, and amazing at potions. and i first thought snape. especially when snape heals draco from harry using sectumsempra on him. cause i didn’t think snape was that good at healing spells so i’d make since if he knew a counter curse for his own spell
OMG, when you started talking about an alternate ending where Draco changes sides, I immediately jumped to The Last Airbender and Zuko switching sides!!! WHOA. If you haven't watched, sorry for the spoilers, but seriously, what's wrong with you?? It's exactly like that!
Loving this review series :) You're doing a great job! However, while I see everyone in the comments agreeing with you and saying that this is their favourite too, I'm going to say something controversial. This was my least favourite - and Deathly Hallows was my second least favourite. I couldn't tell you why, though - just that I was a little disappointed with both of them on my initial read and never really got over it. My favourites are the ones bang in the middle - 3, 4 and 5, probably in that order. But each to their own :D
Yay Draco love 💕I have a feeling you're not a fan of Snape? 😁 Luna's commentary is tHE BEST THING that has ever happened to the world❤❤ Watching your HP review videos feels so nostalgic, so many good memories😊
Great review, Half-Blood Prince is my favorite as well. I loved diving into the memories involving Tom Riddle, and I liked that Snape finally got Defense Against the Dark Arts after wanting it for so long, and we got Slughorn as the potions teacher. I also found Draco’s situation to be fascinating in this book. I still remember reading the first time and being completely shocked when Dumbledore was killed by Snape. Ah, sorry I’m ranting on this comment but there’s just so much in half blood prince that I liked lol
I feel like we can all empathize with Draco because in the end he was not glorified or made to be seen as a hero despite his actions, the way snape was
I didn't know before but i needed ur review in my life sooo bad... Throughout the whole thing i was always goin "MEEEE"... And i live in lebanon, so not a lot of people to spoil the book for me, but at the end of this book i literally through my book under my pillow to make it stop when snape kills dumbeldore. It was such a bold move to do and justtt....
I m harry potter fan like you but i think that this book is very said dumbledore should not die ( at least it was too bad to read and see on the film) I love your Chanel as a harry potter fan i think u are fantastic , good luck continue
In defense of Hagrid as a teacher: As a third year teacher, I completely empathize with Hagrid. It’s extremely hard to go into a career field where you’re passionate about something, but when you try to share it you get shit all over. I’ve had many days end in tears because my teacher education program didn’t adequately prepare me for the realities of the classroom and Hagrid didn’t even have any kind of teacher certification program! I think he tried really hard to share his knowledge and passion for magical creatures and even though he sometimes missed the mark I don’t think that makes him a bad teacher. Sorry for the rant-I know YOU didn’t say Hagrid is a bad teacher, but as you said a lot of people have shared that sentiment so I just had to share my thoughts on Hagrid 😅
I HAVE BEEN SPOILED FOR HALF BLOOD PRINCE AS WELL. But it wasn’t the video that you mentioned, I was spoiled by some punk ass kid in my freshman year in high school. IT STILL HAUNTS ME TO THIS DAY! Like seriously, I JUST CAN’T!

I mean, they were mean to eachother as friends before, but don't friends get into arguments a lot? I feel like the fact that they got through all that just brought them closer
Them quitting Hagrid's class made me so sad. It felt like it was so disheartening to have them leave him. Even if logically it was the best for them. Draco's surroundings and family left him with basically no choice or rather extremely prevented him from making an active choice to become a death eater or not. However, that in no way diminishes or is an excuse for how he acted throughout the books. I love these reviews!

Yay you ship Ron and Hermione and Harry and Ginny!!!! I don’t have to argue my way through this!!!
Snape: yes, sir.
Harry: there's no need to call me sir, professor.
I love that you mention Tonks and Lupin at the end! I’ve always been so attached to their relationship for a number of reasons and that scene made me hella emotional last time I read it 😭😭😭 (also hella bitter it wasn’t in the movie but that’s another subject entirely)
THEY'RE SO CUTE I LOVE THEM
lol yes the movie leaves EVERYTHING out!
Severus Snape having no choice but to kill Dumbledore was always one of the most effective scenes in all the films/books.
YES YES YES
Half Blood Prince is a very close second to Deathly Hallows. I actually ship Harry and Ginny together and I agree it's a healthy relationship. The way we learn about the Horcruxes and also I really enjoyed the memories as well. I ship Ron and Hermoine as well but I wish they were more healthy about it. OMG LAVENDER ANNOYED ME TO NO END. Yes! Love the points made here. The relationship with Dumbledore is soo endearing!
Thank you for acknowledging Harry and Ginny's romance and relationship! You perfectly described why these 2 are just so perfect for each other.
Can we also acknowledge the moment when Harry tries to convince Snape that his nickname is Roonil Wazlib?? Absolutely hilarious, by far the funniest sass Harry has ever given!
I LOVE THAT PART
Oh and also this was my favorite HP review you’ve done yet! So many feels 😭

THIS IS MY FAV BOOK TOO GREAT REVIEW
THANK YOU DARLING

My favorite is also Half Blood Prince, and my second favorite is Deathly Hallows!
I finished the book three days ago. Have yet to start Deathly Hallows because of work and started reading Looking For Alaska
i hope you enjoy it!
HBP = vol. 1 of 2-part final episode. It set up the cue-ball for HP7 DH. That's what JKR intended & she did it.

When I reread them this summer I cried so much at dumbledores death! I was so surprised that it was by far the biggest reaction I had to the reread
I really loved 1st and 2nd book but my favorite is Deathly Hallows
HALF BLOOD PRINCE IS MY FAVOURITE TOO!!!!!!
You should do book recommendations more often! Specifically one for addiction.
i haven't read many books where the main character has an addition, but i definitely will consider it!
My favourite Harry Potter book. ❤
the best :)

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH UUUU
The scene when he's trying to convince Draco to let him help him makes me cry every time
I HAVE BEEN SPOILED FOR HALF BLOOD PRINCE AS WELL. But it wasn’t the video that you mentioned, I was spoiled by some punk ass kid in my freshman year in high school. IT STILL HAUNTS ME TO THIS DAY! Like seriously, I JUST CAN’T!
Oh god now I so want the different ending for Draco in The Half Blood Prince. I NEED IT!!
Same
I read Harry Potter's series twice but I wasn't the same age and it were in two differents language. ☺ French and English. And just an information in french "language" is writing "langage" without an "u" but lots of people made the mistake to write it the way you write it in english.

ah yay twins!
Notification squad!❤️
you're the best!
emmmabooks AHHHHH!! Thank you for making my entire day! I literally just woke up to see this! Love you so much, keep up the great work!!❤️
I personally saw the snape being the half blood prince coming

i know the feeling!
i'm so glad we almost always have the same opinions on every book XD
IF SOMEONE MENTIONS A FANFIC PLEASE MENTION IT IN ONE OF YOUR VIDEOS!! ID LOVE TO READ IT!!
HBP is actually one of my least favs out of the 7 books, I think it’s because Draco plays such a big role and I’m just not interested in him at all
Half-Blood Prince is also my favorite Harry Potter book :)
twins!!
JKR sucks at writing romance, to be blunt, but she writes friendships well, hence Harmony shipping.
It was Draco who had the interesting storyline in sixth year, but JKR had written herself into a corner of having to follow Harry's POV. The series was always Harry Potter and...
Never noticed the Holy Grail back there on the shelf before.
Because it's the Mortal Cup from The Mortal Instruments.
Does that mean it's holy?
holy to shadowhunters!
Yeah the creature is Dobby thing is hilarious can you imagine what would happen if those to switch roles and creature got to be Malfoy Servin. definitely!!!!
emmmabooks Okey then i will give it a try ☺👍👍.
HINNY 5EVER
YAAAAAASS
Dumbledore comes to the Drosleys?? I need to reread this books! I just didn't know it anymore:D
I love the scene where Dumbledore and Tom met for the first time^^
And I agree with you on Draco.
And OMG this scene at the end with Dumbledore and as he drinks the portion...:( And the things which come out of the water, as I first saw it in the movie it was really disturbing?... I don't know how to say it:D
yes it was a quick lil scene in the beginning!
it definitely was disturbing to watch!
It was the first one I read
Now I think to myself WHY I read the second last book of the series first...
hahah oh no!!!!
Wait what did Harry do when no one would really talk to Ginny?
