Field Lines of a Coil

A coil is connected to a 12 V car battery. The magnetic field lines are shown by sprinkling iron fillings on the surface of a piece of cardboard which is placed over the coil.

- Coil
- Car battery (12 V)
- Connecting wires
- Iron fillings
- Piece of white cardboard
