Best All Around Stand Up Paddleboard?? | Body Glove Performer SUP Review

  • Inflatable SUPs have become hugely popular because they're light, affordable, and can get you on the water within minutes. In this review video, I'm reviewing the Body Glove Performer 11 stand up paddle board, which has been one of the best selling SUPs on the market for a couple of years. They've made some changes to the 2022 Body Glove Performer 11, and so the question I'm going to answer is whether or not this SUP deserves to be one of the best selling stand up paddle boards, and who it's designed for.

    What a nice board & package. I have the model from 2020 and now this one from 2022. The price remains the same at Costco at $399.99 but right now it’s on sale for $ 319.99 it has been for the last six weeks or so. You can’t beat this package and now it comes with a electric pump which is awesome and also the manual pump which is good. The Hyperlite board from Costco only comes with the electric. It’s nice to have the manual pump in case you end up hiking into a lake.
    The new color is perfect. My 2020 model has a lot of white which is not easy to keep clean.
    I love the new D ring placement. This board is very well thought out in design.

    I got the Bluefin Cruise Carbon 12’ for $700 and that package was the ultimate to include kayak seat and a 5yr warranty … I did a lot of research before purchasing and never saw Body Glove in the top ten on most review sites … but that’s not uncommon if that site is sponsored however at that price of edging almost $1000.00 in my ( opinion of course ) it lacks comparison to a lot at that price range.. great video 👍🏼

    I started out paddling on a fiberglass SUP. I just used my new Body Glove yesterday purchased at Costco and I felt it was harder to push through the water than the fiberglass ones Ive used.

    I recently purchased this board at Costco at a terrific price of $279.97. My only real issue with this board I have found is that it's sluggish and I really struggle to paddle straight. I constantly have to switch paddling from one side to the other to attempt to stay on track. So tracking is a pain. I wonder if that 34" makes all the difference in regards to it 😒🤣 Maybe I just don't know how to paddle properly. A nicer would be nice to perhaps get in the future. I use the D rings for my cooler with bungee cords which is great to have a seat on occasion. Just wish I could find a way to make the cooler more stable on the board. So I'm on the fence about returning for something else, Although to get that I'd have to spend a pretty penny more which I'm probably not willing to do since It's not my sole activity lol.

    Unrelated to this video on paddle boards but have you paddled a tsunami 165? I was wondering what you thought of it if so. Like easy to paddle, or glide and cruise at 4.5 mph. I read tons of reviews and am leaning towards that boat for my go to lake and river do it all kayak. I dont have any vendors around to test it unfortunately

    • @danwulffe8077
      @danwulffe8077 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is an incredible boat and you have read correctly! I have a 145 and have access to a club 165, I love them just as equally the 165 is fast, stable for a touring boat and an absolutely joy to paddle because you can truly define a comfortable paddling position with the air pro phase 3 seat backrest or back band. Totally recommend the tsunami boats if you can get your hands on one. Rudders are back ordered currently in the US by wilderness systems but they make a hell of a difference for the extra tracking in addition to the boat’s already well defined keel.

    • @PaddleTV

      Bote warranty sucks. I read where people are still waiting for kayak blown seat replacement from a year ago. I called and they don't stock them and did not know when/if they would get them. Their build quality is no better than a $300 sup and they are way overpriced. They are more focused on the sale vs customer service. Not for me.

    Heads up on this new 2022 model! They moved the D-rings (one on each side) farther back from the center making it difficult to attach a stadium seat. I have the 2018 and 2021 model year Performer's and the D-ring placement is much closer to the center handle. I don't know why BG did this as it makes no sense. Regarding the board: one of the absolute best for all around water types, very high build quality, and now for 2022 they include an electric pump and kept the price the same at Costco. Going back to stadium seats, it's a great option to have on those long paddle days or when in rough water since sitting is MUCH more stable than standing..night/day difference. The stadium seat I use on my boards is from WalMart and works well and I can flip it back to stand in the center or flip it down to sit. I usually carry a large DSLR camera with big zoom lens and I need the seat on those trips for stability. Lots of bargains on isup's so check Amazon, look at actual reviews (and not the shill vine reviews where people get free product for a fake review), more D-rings are better for lashing gear or a seat. Check warranty by trying to contact the seller/vendor and see if they are responsive to your questions. It's a hit/miss with these sellers. I do know DAMA sups are very good quality (friend has 2 and I paddled hers) and when her DAMA brand electric pump stopped working, they replaced it quickly. Btw, nice video!

      I recently purchased this board at Costco at a picture is on the board near the D rings showing a cooler. I used the D rings for my own cooler which can also be used as a seat. I bought recently thru Costco , the air valve is stuck open so when I remove the pump I have to very quickly put the plug in or lose all the air, is that normal? I think my valve is stuck open…

    • @PaddleTV
      @PaddleTV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It should close if you push down and turn the center piece. You'll know it's closed if it pops up slightly. If you push down and twist it the other way, it should stay down a little more, and then it's open. If that's not working, you could have a bad valve. Those valves can be replaced. If you contact the manufacturer, they should be able to tell you how to get the right one for the board.

      Ha! Yup... inflatables can be tricky that way. One tip for you is to 'fold it', don't roll it up. To make more space in the bag, you can also keep the pump out, and use the straps on the bag to strap the pump to the outside. Not ideal, but it works.

    Not everyone has access to a power source for the electric pump, so it would have been more of a real-world test if you would have solely used the hand pump, as many users will be required to do.

      It would be more of a workout than a test. :) Seriously though... all dropstitch SUPs take very similar efforts to inflate, as they all need to be inflated to 10-15 psi in order to have the rigidity necessary. There's not much to compare here between SUPs.

      I've hand pumped my Performer 11's to 15psi and it's right around 500 strokes to get to that pressure and using their pump. I can cut that to around 400 pumps when I use my dual chamber GRI pump.

    I own this board. Do yourself a favor and save just a little bit more money and get a board from a more reputable company. Not only will you get a significantly better board for a couple hundred more dollars but you’ll also get a better paddle. This board has non removable fins and tracks like garbage because of it. I’ve taken this thing out only 4 times and it’s already falling apart and the paddle rattles and shakes and just feels like cheap crap. I’ve seen plenty of people with this board getting leaks on the lake.
