I was lucky enough to meet john cooper when i was about 11 in the 90s , he signed a catalogue for me. It made a lasting impression. I can honestly say that im not sure it gets much better than the last few minutes of this video. A sunny day , clear road , twin su's on a brg mini and a john coopers garages steering wheel. Your a very lucky man keith. Much love and i cannot wait to watch this restoration.
Yeah fir.., oh not first. 😂 Paul will be pleased I held off commenting 1st today. I felt guilty being first twice in a row. Keith what a great transformation having the twins working. It made such a difference even body parts were not holding up to the g-force. Good to see you today too albeit briefly whilst you were judging.
That sounds so good and looks really nippy for a 1 litre… Random mini question. What are your thoughts on Hi-Lo kits?? I need to replace all the cones on my Mpi (which is running 10” wheels). Suspension is standard a part from koni gas adjust dampers. Thinking that whilst I’m changing the cones I could put a Hi-Lo kit on it but would be a waste of £100 for a full kit? (Proper mini spares kit)

Sounds great! I have twin carbs on my 1981 Saab 900. Wonderful burble from the exhaust!
Sounds fantastic Keith. Brings back fond memories of my Cooper S............................. which I wish I had never sold!!!
That mini has real grunt 😎 when you smoked that yaris 👌🏻🤟🏻. Those twin carbs look sweet in the engine bay.
Would love a video of you setting up and tuning the carbs to get it running perfectly. Maybe setting timing too?
What a beautiful sounding mini
British Racing Green is my favourite colour and the A-Series sounds great with twin SU carbs on it.
ah the beautiful sound of Twins
That motor pulls very strongly for a 1 litre Keith!

Sounds great kieth. I particularly enjoyed the super pursuit mode in the video
sounds amazing, and very quick too!
Hiya Keith-now that sounds good!! Great video, keep well.
Looking good for the project. I will let you know if mine sounds like yours. I must admit, I think the car looks better without a gutter trim.
I don't like silver gutter trims. Far too blingy! I will put a black one back on
Sounds brilliant Keith! And a bargain too
2nd ! Lol good to speak to you today, the racing green looks to be a winner 👍
As Keith says.......your the first looser 😆
@@paulrobinson3528 I was actually first but edited the post and you snuck in ! Lol 😂
Sounds great Keith, a pocket rocket on steroids.
A few free miles of motoring by not having the speedo drive connected 😀 Good for the resale value.
it's already a high mileage car so probably won't make much difference LOL
Nice drive that. I've done a drive myself when on the road you should see it.
I will check it out 👍
@@classicminiworkshop you can share it when you film that racing green mini. At the end of my film I've involved who inspired me to drive my car.
Sounds great 👍
Looks and sounds like it goes really well mate! Picks up nice and quickly!
Thanks 👍 I'm well pleased with it
Can I ask how adding twin su’s changed the performance on the 998? As I too have a 998 and like the idea of twins. Thanks
Sounds good
Love the t shirt 😂
1st, get in lol. Will upset rrcreation signs lol
Well done - I’m last to the party today.
Wow. Impressive performance for a 1 litre! Other than the carbs, what other mods, headwork? Exhaust?
Yes its has a stage 3 head and LCB exhaust system as well as 1.5 ratio roller rockers
Sounds great,what size engine,you said 1 liter,998,1071,1275 I have a 67mk1 cooper with a 998 twin SU 1 1/4
Hi, its a 998cc
You broke down, call the Rac did we? lol......................you didn't breakdown really did you, just winding me up 😁
Genuine breakdown. Lucky I was only 50ft from home LOL
That sounds so good and looks really nippy for a 1 litre…

Yes, 100% fit the Hi-Lo kit.
Keith when you broke down just down your lane how did you magically back up to your house?
It's down hill so I just let it roll back then I used the starter motor in 1st gear to move it forward
👌
Have you ever done the BMW K-Series head conversion before?
Not yet!
5:55 so many lost bolts, making work for some recovery companies? 🤣 50 yard road test? couldn't have happened to a nicer guy pmsl
If you look closely you will notice I had a load of tools (just in case) in the passenger footwell
Can the 998cc engine be bored out to 1275cc?
No, unfortunately not
Should have been inch and half
Not on a 998? The Cooper conversion kits were definitely 1 1/4". The 1275s were 1 1/2"
two carbs increase petrol consumption. i like single carb better. im no fool
If the carbs are setup right it shouldn't make a great deal of difference. The engine still needs the right mixture ratio be it 1 carb or 2
