Seeing Charlie get used to the squid roll immediately when I was still struggling to remember to do it, as well as see other “veterans” of the series have the same problem, makes me feel like it’s almost easier for someone new to the game to remember it, when they haven’t formed any of the bad habits.
I learned early on in Grizzco matches that if you switch forms quickly while swimming as you drop off an egg you can speed up the process of swimming backwards. Trying to break that habit for the new dodge and wall jump has been mind numbing. 😆 That being said, I can see myself running pure gear for running/swimming speed and enhance once we have a chance to upgrade gear.
Also I noticed him using non motion controls made his higher RNG spread weapons land more hits because his off aim actually works better than precisely aiming exactly on the enemy lol
I can’t believe he actually played this game every time I tried to get someone into splatoon they flat out refuse or make fun of me and he played WILLINGLY

A+ is bad yes. But let that not get to you. Charlie is a certified gamer like us, that gets the hang of things really fast due to high IQ. He is also very good at Fortnite (for some reason) and Doom Eternal, I've noticed. Very few people are born with a high IQ and it's not a reason to brag about it, because bragging is a sin and is against the teachings of Christ (I am Orthodox Christian and everyone else should be too). Also my pfp isn't supposed to represent anything I just put it way back when that expanding mind meme was relevant and it just stayed there haha I've reached X rank just after some 300 hours in Splatoon 2. I haven't played it a lot (only around 450 hours in 5 years and 1000% the entire campaign and DLC) but even this Splatfest I managed to get 11 wins and only one loss when I first booted the game after 8 months of not playing Sploon. Other than that I've also got a fair share of sick replays and team wipes in mere seconds. Also if you use a smurf account, you might be able to achieve X rank as fast as level 13 in Splatoon 2 - all you need to do is absolutely destroy everyone in every single fight at S (not S+) rank and play only one game mode you are most comfortable with.
I doubt he will, he's picked up tons of trending games and dropped them once he's gotten the views. He's done that with other games and never touched them again.

@@brodygray744 in competitive splatoon rollers considered quite bad because it can be very easily countered if you keep your distance , if you cant do that then it is just a skill issue while there are some weapons that are better and worse than others , every weapon is viable. one of the best players in the world got extremely high powers with weapons that were considered the worst in the game which easily proves its up to skill

I love how you’re giving this game a shot. I have been playing Splatoon competitively for quite a while now and it’s so nice to see the game grow out to more people. I still hate the “it’s for kids” thing tho. While yea, many kids play it but when you play this game at a decent level you start to not see as many immature players. The competitive community is actually super nice and mature. I would say it is one of the best there is to offer.
It’s still a kids game, why hate that? It’s literally a fact. So is Pokémon, Pokémon is a kids game, you don’t see that drawing out the adult audience, so why care? This game is blatantly a kids game, that doesn’t mean adults can’t play and enjoy it.

The game is marketed toward a younger audience (especially from early 2014-2015 marketing) and has kept that reputation. Even with that tho nintendo as a whole makes games marketed toward younger audiences so it is not an odd one out. Though with splatoon it definitely got the short string on how much that marketing has effected it thus far, but having streamers play it more (especially ones with bigger followings) is gonna help negate/wipe away that stereotype.

As a new player, and a fps player no he isn't just because he killed people who have no clue what their doing doesn't make him good. Remember these people are 3-9 years old Charlie has spent more than their whole life on just fps. Also it was casual. I'm just saying splatoon players aren't good.

He's played shooters before so I doubt it's much difference. Splatoons pretty easy to get the hang of but at the same time he was probably playing in lower skill lobbies/vast majority of first time splatoon players who are younger or inexperienced. I think he'd do pretty good in an S+ low X lobby
I literally dropped the first splatoon because I worked my way to A rank. And then dropped back to C- because my teammates were so fucking horrible. Never looked back at thos franchise
@@megamanx1291 Splatoon 3 reworks the ranking system. Instead of losing your rank by losing, your rank will just go down over time. So that means as long as you’re a consistently good player, you’ll have a high rank no matter how terrible your teammates are.
from what i've played of the first one, i can't help but admit that it is actually really fun. i didn't play too often though, but i kinda wish i did watching this video. it's a shame that the cartoon-esque artstyle and target demographic is what people focus instead of the legitimately solid core gameplay and concepts.
The motion controls, while awkward at first, are unit for unit more accurate than stick, but Splatoon also doesn't really demand that level precision unless you're doing higher level ranked modes like S+ and X ranks.
you should still play with motion controls, the problem is that he wasn't resetting the camera or was using the stick for more than just looking right or left
I've been playing since the first game and I still don't like the motion controls but it's never been a problem. Got to X rank in splatoon 2 just fine without using motion. It's just preference

I've been playing the Splatoon series for like 8 years now and honestly this adds a fresh coat to the whole series, newer mechanics and weapon redesigns make the game seem more modernized, I'm glad I got to see Charlie play one of my favorite Nintendo series.

I get that motion controls are WEIRD at first, but they almost feel like playing on a mouse once you get used to them. If you plan on playing this game more, I'd HIGHLY recommend getting over the learning curve. It's so worth.

If you have Splatoon 2 save data on your switch it matched you up with more skilled players in the testfire. Charlie didn’t so he matched up with toddlers who didn’t know how to play the game.

@@monkeylemur Not true. There are insane players that use sticks control. When I peaked in Splatoon 2, I was quadruple S+, and I only used stick controls. I only started to rank down after I started playing the game less and less after the last Splatfest. Lost the momentum I had. Sucks because I really wanted to keep that flex lmao.

As for the collateral, it's not because of the Online (although I don't blame you for thinking it was): charger weapons can actually shoot through people, so it's technically possible to even wipe a team with a single shot.

Using a combination of stick control and motion is key. Stick control for the bigger camera movements and gyroscope control part for the fine-tune adjustments when aiming.
Motion controls are definitely something you have to get used to, as it’s more for minor corrections on most weapons, but for full aiming on snipers. Playing with the sensitivity on motion controls is also super important. That being said they really don’t matter for low rank games.
I dont know if people realize how good motion is, I've been playing splatoon since the first game and its like so much better having motion since you can do flicks and finer movements with it compared to sticks. Of course it wont matter much below like S rank, but for things like shooters and chargers, its a must. Kind of like a hybrid between controller and mouse controls (when done right)
Ugh sorry I could never get over the weird camera gliding that comes with motion controls. To me it feels like playing with mouse acceleration on. I prefer my flicks to land in the same place every time ty.
i personally think motion controls fall flat solely because they disabled vertical look with the right stick. If they turned that lil switch on then i would be more than happy using motion every game
Using separated joy cons, the motion controls become so good that they're a no brainer to use. I can reliably hit shots that I simply can't on a stick.
The fact that stick sniping is considered to be a handicap compared to motion sniping, it’s hilarious that Charlie managed to do pretty damn good with them
Motion is the best way to pay the game. Sticks may be more comfortable when you start out but once learnt you'll see a big improvement in skill. Of course you don't have to use them if you don't plan of getting good at the game but they're a necessity if you want to play comp.
They aren't a necessity. I use motion controls, and while I do believe they offer more potential than sticks, there are X-Rank (or S+ in Splatoon 1's case) players who use sticks and play on teams. Some of my friends use stick controls and they manage to keep up and/or outpace my own gameplay. It's really all about comfort though. If you've played many shooters with sticks in the past, sticks are just going to work for you. As for me, I could never touch Splatoon, or any shooter, with sticks. It's motion or mouse for me. lol.

There's a reason the higher up you go the less people play sticks. 99% of comp players play motion (there may be like 1 or 2 who don't). There are things you can do with motion that you can't with sticks. It's the same reason most PC gamers use mouse and keyboard over controller. Of course, this all assumes that you can physically play motion
@@JuniperGreen162 sticks are still a huge skill cap compared to motion, the difference between motion and stick players in X-Rank is disproportionally huge and it is a big necessity if you want to compete in splatoon, having a mouse-like movement in a controller is a no brainer and a huge advantage to sticks in a competitive scenario, but yea, nothing is stopping you from using sticks tho.

I love how people say this game is aimed at kids when ot has a serious competitive community thats really Aimed for young adults. The game is really for ALL audiances. Not just kids... same with almost all Nintendo games.

the first game captured my heart and I don't care how old I am I will forever love the franchise my number one strategy is too sneak all the way up to the enemies spawn immediately so while everyone's begins the fight in the middle I'm covering their entrance and gaining turf, they can't get back into battle fast and if they want to take back that turf they risk letting my team push up, had a decent success rate weak to rollers tho but I learned if you move slow enough while in ink the surface doesn't move at all so if you shoot the roller move away from that spot deal with any teammates shooting where you were and then reclaim that turf it's pretty easy to get a good 60% of coverage, major problem is relying on your teammates to win the first Battle and relying on them killing anyone who gets passed you or anyone that comes passed if they kill you
As someone who has played Splatoon 2 for 5 years, motion controls are a Requirement for playing at any level that isn’t the lowest. He was just playing against a bunch of 11 year olds chewing on their controllers. Edit: a lot of people are saying that motion is really hard, and I used to be like that too. I thought motion was to confusing and I couldn’t get myself it use it at all. I forced my way through it and lost a lot of games, but In the end it increased my rank from B- to S. If you want to play well it’s absolutely necessary, though it is hard to learn.

i have 1,000 hours in splatoon 2, and ive used sniper for a solid 200 of those hours, and some of those shots charlie was pulling off astounded me. You should keep playing man you're way better than you think. 👍👍

The motion controls in Splatoon are actually some of the most intuitive out there. Once you get accustomed to how to aim, it's so much better than just using a stick.

Regarding motion aim: Motion is more accurate, but what's more important even than the accuracy is that they allow you to move your reticle so much faster. Your response time to someone behind you just doesn't compare on sticks, especially because, even with motion aim on, the right stick still adds to your turn by the same amount. That said, stick aim isn't really going to noticeably hold a player back until around A rank (or whatever the Splatoon 3 equivalent of Splatoon 2 A rank ends up being). Charlie's analysis that he'll do better right now on sticks isn't wrong; it's just that he's setting himself up to fall behind further up the learning curve when sticks start to fall off. At that point in time, players who have decided to struggle and learn the motion controls in the earlier ranks will eclipse the stick users, and the players who realize they're falling behind and need to switch will need to relearn how to aim and spend a lot more time getting back up to where they were. The only good reasons to use stick aim are 1. that you don't care about improving that much or don't plan to go very high up the ladder (this is totally valid btw, it's very healthy to be honest with yourself about this) 2. that you get motion sickness from using motion controls or 3. you have a physical disability that prevents you from moving the controller in that way.
Ur actually supposed to use the motion controls, thumb sticks for large moves and motion control for smaller adjustments, like using arm or wrist for a mouse
I had no idea this beta was going on in the first place, I loved 2 and played the shit out of it so I downloaded the beta and expected to play. When I was told to enter my credit card information for a free trial of an online subscription however I just immediately deleted the game. It seems more of the same from 2, so I guess I'll hold off from 3, at least until I can find it on sale/used at an acceptable condition at Gamestop to play.
He has absolutely no chance of being matched up with them. For reference they'd be in games where you get 70 battle points for winning, Charlie was only getting 30. He has an entire era of climbing before he gets matched up with people who actually know how to play the game

The game is marketed toward a younger audience (especially from early 2014-2015 marketing) and has kept that reputation. Even with that tho nintendo as a whole makes games marketed toward younger audiences so it is not an odd one out. Though with splatoon it definitely got the short string on how much that marketing has effected it thus far, but having streamers play it more (especially ones with bigger followings) is gonna help negate/wipe away that stereotype.

The motion controls, while awkward at first, are unit for unit more accurate than stick, but Splatoon also doesn't really demand that level precision unless you're doing higher level ranked modes like S+ and X ranks.

I've been playing the Splatoon series for like 8 years now and honestly this adds a fresh coat to the whole series, newer mechanics and weapon redesigns make the game seem more modernized, I'm glad I got to see Charlie play one of my favorite Nintendo series.

Using a combination of stick control and motion is key. Stick control for the bigger camera movements and gyroscope control part for the fine-tune adjustments when aiming.
Motion controls are definitely something you have to get used to, as it’s more for minor corrections on most weapons, but for full aiming on snipers. Playing with the sensitivity on motion controls is also super important. That being said they really don’t matter for low rank games.
Don't need to fine-tune your aim if they aren't moving lol

I dont know if people realize how good motion is, I've been playing splatoon since the first game and its like so much better having motion since you can do flicks and finer movements with it compared to sticks. Motion is the best way to pay the game. Sticks may be more comfortable when you start out but once learnt you'll see a big improvement in skill. Of course you don't have to use them if you don't plan of getting good at the game but they're a necessity if you want to play comp.
They aren't a necessity. I use motion controls, and while I do believe they offer more potential than sticks, there are X-Rank (or S+ in Splatoon 1's case) players who use sticks and play on teams. Some of my friends use stick controls and they manage to keep up and/or outpace my own gameplay. It's really all about comfort though. If you've played many shooters with sticks in the past, sticks are just going to work for you. As for me, I could never touch Splatoon, or any shooter, with sticks. It's motion or mouse for me. lol.

the first game captured my heart and I don't care how old I am I will forever love the franchise
my number one strategy is too sneak all the way up to the enemies spawn immediately so while everyone's begins the fight in the middle I'm covering their entrance and gaining turf, they can't get back into battle fast and if they want to take back that turf they risk letting my team push up, had a decent success rate weak to rollers tho but I learned if you move slow enough while in ink the surface doesn't move at all so if you shoot the roller move away from that spot deal with any teammates shooting where you were and then reclaim that turf it's pretty easy to get a good 60% of coverage, major problem is relying on your teammates to win the first Battle and relying on them killing anyone who gets passed you or anyone that comes passed if they kill you
And Zipcaster makes this strategy SIGNIFICANTLY more viable too
As someone who has played Splatoon 2 for 5 years, motion controls are a Requirement for playing at any level that isn’t the lowest. He was just playing against a bunch of 11 year olds chewing on their controllers.
Edit: a lot of people are saying that motion is really hard, and I used to be like that too. I thought motion was to confusing and I couldn’t get myself it use it at all. I forced my way through it and lost a lot of games, but In the end it increased my rank from B- to S. If you want to play well it’s absolutely necessary, though it is hard to learn.

Regarding motion aim: Motion is more accurate, but what's more important even than the accuracy is that they allow you to move your reticle so much faster. Your response time to someone behind you just doesn't compare on sticks, especially because, even with motion aim on, the right stick still adds to your turn by the same amount.
That said, stick aim isn't really going to noticeably hold a player back until around A rank (or whatever the Splatoon 3 equivalent of Splatoon 2 A rank ends up being). Charlie's analysis that he'll do better right now on sticks isn't wrong; it's just that he's setting himself up to fall behind further up the learning curve when sticks start to fall off. At that point in time, players who have decided to struggle and learn the motion controls in the earlier ranks will eclipse the stick users, and the players who realize they're falling behind and need to switch will need to relearn how to aim and spend a lot more time getting back up to where they were.
The only good reasons to use stick aim are 1. that you don't care about improving that much or don't plan to go very high up the ladder (this is totally valid btw, it's very healthy to be honest with yourself about this) 2. that you get motion sickness from using motion controls or 3. you have a physical disability that prevents you from moving the controller in that way.

Ur actually supposed to use the motion controls, thumb sticks for large moves and motion control for smaller adjustments, like using arm or wrist for a mouse

I had no idea this beta was going on in the first place, I loved 2 and played the shit out of it so I downloaded the beta and expected to play. When I was told to enter my credit card information for a free trial of an online subscription however I just immediately deleted the game. It seems more of the same from 2, so I guess I'll hold off from 3, at least until I can find it on sale/used at an acceptable condition at Gamestop to play.

go watch the average pro player play in x rank and then multiply that by your numbers of seconds to live left (so 1000)
He has absolutely no chance of being matched up with them.
For reference they'd be in games where you get 70 battle points for winning, Charlie was only getting 30. He has an entire era of climbing before he gets matched up with people who actually know how to play the game
